Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

Breaking news... Australia have cancelled Djokovic's visa again!

I think this is the right decision. He should never have got a visa in the first place as he didn't meet the criteria, he tried to cheat and lie his way to getting one. His apology or explanation (or whatever it was) the other day really sealed it for me, and removed any empathy I might have felt for his situation. It was so obviously manipulative, and the way he tried to cast himself as a well-meaning innocent and throw all the blame on one of his team was just pathetic.

The whole thing doesn't reflect well on Djokovic, and the way it's been handled doesn't reflect well on Australia. But it's the right decision.

... is there time for another legal appeal before the tournament starts?

The events surrounding his travel and COVID results is just too vague, the incorrect filling
of the immigration papers is also something unbelievable and also I wonder if what he said
in the interview at the airport with border force was different to his statement from a
couple of days ago?

The situation may have been handled a bit badly but I think the situation was complicated
given that the AO and state or Victoria were involved, The Border Force did their job initially.

I think this decision is aligned with popular opinion.

couple of days ago?

He's tried to lie his way in, and then lied to cover it all up.

It does lend weight to the theory that whenever he appears to get "injured" at critical moments in a match, and throws his opponent's concentration out, and then miraculously makes an instant 100% recovery moments later, that it's all an act. More lies and deception, just to get what he wants.

He's one of the greatest tennis players ever, arguably the greatest... he shouldn't have to stoop to these tricks to get into a country, and he shouldn't have to do the same in matches, either.

I think this decision is aligned with popular opinion.

It is, yes, but it's also aligned with the law. Popular opinion was against him because he's seen to have tried to bypass the law.

... I suppose the next question is: what happens when it's time for the French Open? The French president said just the other day that he wanted to make things difficult for the unvaccinated. This story may continue in another country.

I would liken it to the cheating which has poisoned soccer,  feigning injury, fans would
probably call it gamesmanship. Prove your greatness with your skill, not your acting abilities.

He is definitely a controversial figure, his fake injuries, his bouncing the ball 15 times
before every serve, his disqualification from the US GS, setting up an independent
players body with minimal support and now this, it all had to come to a head, unfortunately
in a big way like this which really affects his future (short term)

Yeah, he can still appeal though. Not sure that he will - after everything that happened in the last few days.
According to Australian laws - taking his visa comes with a 3-year entry ban. He can try to fight it on ground that his entry is for the benefit to Australia.

Rublev will take his place in the draw so the draw will be balanced after all.

from what I hear on TV he will appeal this decision, but TV commentators said he has little chance of winning the case, in short he is in a bad situation. maybe it would be better if he didn't resort to avoid losing and seeing his name with criticism in the media, I'm not a jurist but I doubt he could appeal and reverse this situation. it would be better for him to just conform

I don't think an appeal would work, the AO starts on Monday, it seems very unlikely he'd get a hearing before then. And even if he did, I don't see how he'd win the case.

As for the 3 year ban thing, I don't think that will apply, they can just waive it so he can try again next year.

The events surrounding his travel and COVID results is just too vague, the incorrect filling
of the immigration papers is also something unbelievable and also I wonder if what he said

He's tried to lie his way in, and then lied to cover it all up.

It does lend weight to the theory that whenever he appears to get "injured" at critical moments in a match, and throws his opponent's concentration out, and then miraculously makes an instant 100% recovery moments later, that it's all an act. More lies and deception, just to get what he wants.

in a big way like this which really affects his future (short term)
But this is will probably go down in the history books as probably a cheating scandal on his part and will add to Djokovic being a controversial figure in tennis and could be talk about for many years and could affect his name for the discussions of greatest tennis player of all time.

Unless he really gets to beat the record of Federer, but still his name will be synonymous with kind of scandal in AO 2022.

Here we go again  with the cancelled visa for Djokovic. I still dont understand why most of the people want to kick Djokovic of Australia and think is the right decision. If they told him he couldnt come to AO without vaccine he wouldnt. But they gaved him a medical exemption and to a few more players. This is all Australias fault. If they said from the start how it was we wouldnt have this problem now.

Australia have certainly handled this really badly. But the issue is that legally, he had to either be vaccinated or have a genuine medical reason why he couldn't get vaccinated. He had neither of those things, and knew it. Australia were stupid to grant him a visa, they should have anticipated the problems it would cause when he arrived. But equally, despite getting the visa, Djokovic was surely well aware that he didn't meet the criteria. He's far from blameless in this.

Yeah, he can still appeal though. Not sure that he will - after everything that happened in the last few days.
...
Rublev will take his place in the draw so the draw will be balanced after all.
I am quite sure he will appeal and fight the ban with everything in his disposal. He came to far already to give up unless he really forged that positive test and they offer him some kind of the deal of not investigating things further.

Nice for Rublev, could be the kick he needs to make a big result in AO. He certainly has the game on the good days. Problem is when his shots don't exactly go as planned and he has no plan B.

Ah you beat me to it !!!
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-australia-59991762
The events surrounding his travel and COVID results is just too vague, the incorrect filling
of the immigration papers is also something unbelievable and also I wonder if what he said
in the interview at the airport with border force was different to his statement from a
couple of days ago?
The situation may have been handled a bit badly but I think the situation was complicated
given that the AO and state or Victoria were involved, The Border Force did their job initially.
I think this decision is aligned with popular opinion.

I think that this is the best decision considering what the situation is. I'm not saying that letting him play would be a bad decision, but this decision is less worse than letting him play.

The govt, AO Federation, and Djokovic all are to blame in this case as no one is innocent. Everyone thought that they'd get away by lying or taking the illegal way but when the news came to the limelight and the public got enraged, everyone was busy saving their own ASS.

I think Djokovic shouldn't have gotten this special treatment from them in the first place and I'd say a good decision made by them.

Things have already become very dirty in terms of both Djokovic and the Australian Govt. In my opinion, he should not be appealing this time as he is also to be blamed for this as he broke the rules and he should be punished. Even if he appeals and by any chance even wins the case, I will actually lose my respect for him which I had over the years for him as a sportsman. I think he should just return home and apologize for his deeds.

Today's hearing in Djokovic's appeal has been moved from today until tomorrow 9.30 local time.

He is now also back in the same detention hotel where he was detained earlier.

Yeah, I feel the same. As I said earlier, his behaviour in this instance really casts a light on his behaviour during matches, and the convenient "injuries" he gets at key moments. He's showing his personality to the whole world here, the way he is trying to bend the rules in his own favour, or just pretend the rules don't apply to him. The arrogance here is astonishing. And I think for most people, if they are refused entry to a country, and the public are vocal in saying they don't want them to come... then you just don't come. You don't take it to court, lose the case, and then continue the legal fight... actually fighting the country itself for a right to break their rules. I think a lot of people have lost all respect for him.

How messy can things get!! I just want this to be over as soon as possible. As I don't know about anyone, but I myself am disgusted by Djokovic and his behavior and his arrogance. A public figure like him should not be this much arrogant towards rules. That too in a time when the Omicron variant is spreading like fire all around. I also think he should be sent home right now.

It is really a pity that these days almost everyone writes and talks about Djokovic instead of mentioning other tennis players and the tournament itself.
The tournament in Australia already has a huge reputation damage from this affair, and I can see from the comments that other tennis players have had enough of this story about Djokovic.
As for those normal tennis news ... Grin

''Andy Murray loses Sydney final to Aslan Karatsev''
''Andy Murray's bid for a first ATP title since October 2019 ended in a straight-set defeat by Russian top seed Aslan Karatsev in the Sydney Classic final.
The Briton, whose last win in Antwerp came nine months after hip surgery, lost 6-3 6-3 to the world number 20.''

Source: https://www.bbc.com/sport/tennis/60007026

I love Murray as a tennis player but his return to the top of tennis will be very difficult, if not impossible.

It's more disappointing as this is coming from a huge public figure like Djokovic. Lots of people make him their idol and they look up to him but he let everyone down. I heard that his visa was taken away by the govt and rumors are that he might appeal again. If he actually does, this is gonna get really obscene in front of everyone. He himself broke the rules, entered the country, the court detained him, he appealed, won the case, the govt took his visa, he might appeal again. This has become a shit drama show.

I love Murray as a tennis player but his return to the top of tennis will be very difficult, if not impossible.

Yes, it's difficult to see him challenging for slams again.
He was good in patches last season, and in a one-off match he was capable of playing with the top ranked players. It was just that his body couldn't maintain it, and it seemed like every good victory was followed by a disappointing defeat as his body struggled to play consecutive matches in a short space of time. That is where this week has been encouraging, he's beaten some good players and been able to keep going, round after round.

So he may not challenge for slams again, but he is certainly getting closer to that level, even if it may be impossible to regain it exactly.
