The final game in Gaastad tournament between casper Ruud and berrettini was as promised it was a total war and ended with 2 1 to Ruud, berrettini managed to win the first set but Ruud was able to make a comeback if it was on grass i think berrettini would've been my favourite.
Yea I watched the last half of the match, Ruud was pretty much on top for that time. The commentators said that Berrettini's forehand abandonned him in te final set so the score suggests that 6 - 2. Yea if it was grass he would have overcome Ruud who didnt have a grass season really or possibly if Berrettini was further along with his recovery it could have been closer. Ruud though is such a strong performer, and has been fairly consistent. and In Hamburg Musetti was able to beat Alcaraz in 3 sets. I did a cheeky bet on Alcaraz half way through the second set and got odds of 2.85. Alcaraz went on the bring the second set to a tie break and won it but Musetti was able to claim the third. He was able to break Alcaraz in every set early on. This is his first ATP title.

He was prick enough to not say anything and just continue like nothing happened. Not cool by tennis fair play but it worked out for him in the end. We could see a rematch in couple of days since both players are playing Umag next. Hopefully I'll manage to go and watch a game or two live.

I did not see that defeat of Alcaraz coming. He seemed to be able to easily win today, especially when you see how he easily won the previous rounds. And he was also placed 1st this tournament. I have no idea how good today's opponent was. We have often seen players in the past who are mayflies. We haven't seen much of him at Roland Garros, for example. It's all preparation for the US open, where Djokovic will in any case not appear at the start

I think very few people saw this coming. For most people it was clear that Alcaraz would win the final. And now Musetti has won it. I did not see the match, I have only read the reports. And according to the reports it was an exciting match. But Musetti kept his nerve and in the end we can only congratulate him.

Congrats to the Musetti - well played and we got to see some amazing strokes.

Too bad for those who bet huge money on him and thinking this is an easy game. I have to check what @Trofo is describing though, might be controversial to me. I'm not saying that Musetti cheats or what, but could be a question of sportsmanship? I don't know, most likely borderline.

We have seen it many times where a player will call their opponents ball in after it was called out by an umpire, all the top players have done it and have that mentality. They are also quick to challenge calls too if they are close but if they are 100% convinced either way the accept it and move on. This is not cool by Musetti and can be looked on as cheating IMO.

Very nice Trofo, I hope you get there too! I wonder did Alcaraz discuss the double bounce with Musetti after the preceedings?

I wouldn't call it cheating, as someone pointed out it is not his job to call it, it should have been done by ref. It is definitely bad sportsmanship and no thought at all about fair play. You do stuff like that couple of times and I am sure players look at you differently and you lose a lot od dressing room respect.

It is possible that he didnt notice the 2nd bounce. It is unlikely that he wouldn't know..but its possible. The racquet could be obstructing his own view to the ball and he's running full speed towards it. In any case, it wasnt a crucial point that could decide the match and eventually Musetti did end up winning.

Yes, most of the peoples were in strong favor of Alcaraz because currently he is one of the best player and have very good record against Musette but still this is not strange because we all know any result can happen in any match with now most of the players are doing good and having quality to beat top ranked players at any court, so this happens in this. After losing first set he fight backs very strongly but again in third set Musette was on top and break service with title for himself.

Yea I agree, the players know, Alcaraz knew straight away but had to continue playing the point until the end and then discussed it with the chair umpire. Thats what I was wondering about, surely it ould be talked about in the dressing rooms or behind the scenes. Anyway as you say there could definitely be a revene match coming up in UMAG. Musetti plays Bedene tomorrow and Alcaraz plays Wednesday, interesting to see how it all pans out and if they will acvtually meet one another again at some stage.

Not the smartest thing to do of Musetti, sportsmanship is always very important and when you do stuff like this, you will get looked down from a lot of players. As you mention, do this a couple of times or do it against players of Nadal/Djokovic/Federer, who have a lot of influence, the respect will be gone and very hard to win it back

isn't there fires at the moment there? as I heard over the news (maybe it was misheard on the radio), but there are large fires right now in Slovenia and close to border and within Umag region? it is a good chance to see tennis there, I didn't want to go to Belgrade open to watch Djokovic Alcaraz is entering top5, closing to top

1.91x on Millman vs Popyrin might be decent odds. Millman has never lost to Popyrin but the matches have been close. Another 3 setter on the cards? Should be a decent gamble on Millman but its going to be close.

Since I watched Alcaraz play in Umag last year I have been saying we have a future number one here. He is complete player without week point and already strong mentally with just 19 years under his belt. Furthermore he seems humble enough to not let fame get into his head. For instance Umag was his first title and tournament that sort of launched his career and he is still coming back this year to play even though it is arguably below his current level. I was keeping one eye on that news since it is usual that top players cancel these small ATP 250 tournaments.
I actually hope to see him live there in a week or so. I bought tickets for the semifinals, he should be a big favorite to win the tournament in Umag once again. I hope he plays Rune or Fognini in the semis. I will watch both SF matches so I'll hopefully see Sinner live as well.

I also think that Millman can win this match but I somehow think that it's going to end in two sets, so a riskier bet would on Millman to win 2-0 which is pretty high @3.11, I might go without or probably just go with a safer option which is on him to win.

That makes it 5-0 for Millman over Popyrin. They are both Aussies, so, they'll get to face each other more often and I'll probably go the same route, unless something drastic happens in their careers.

Good, just take a break from my tennis betting, lots of game on the Atlanta Open. And good call on the Millman win, so he has a mastery of Popyrin afterall. Paul Tommy -1.5 at 1.80 might be a good bet for me. Looking for Kyrgios but so far it's only ML that has been offered, no handicap or other options. Brooksby vs Paire, I'm liking Paire at +5.5 although odds is 1.64. Might do another multi betting.

Paire is really risky player when you are betting on him to cover handicap. He is very capable but mentally unstable. I have seen and lost money on too many his matches to ever include him on my tickets agsin. He can simply break apart in any period of the match and not win a single game afterwards.
