Ah it's easy to be brave with bets less than $5!
I'm normally reluctant to bet against the favourite but I saw Australia at least on par
with Croatia and the same for Italy.

It was the impromptu doubles pairing of Thompson and Purcell who beat the formidable
Mektic and Pavic which was the stand out match.

I would say for today I Italy don't win the first 2 matches and it goes to the doubles
decider Canada would be stronger. Anyway my bet is on Italy.

You've known about the game and have gone with the odds over Italy. Auger-Aliassime have took Canada to the finals. Disappointment for Italy, which is being expected to win the trophy. Italy got an opportunity and it is missed. On the other hand it is Canada's first entry to the finals.

Yes, unfortunately it was a doubles decider.

Shapovalov was beaten in his singles match by Sonego and Felix AA beat Musetti to
take it to the decider. I believe Shapo was replaced with Felix and that was a good call.
I believe if Shapo was not replaced Italy would have a better chance.

Final today, Canada v Australia.
Hmm I'm not sure which way to go with this....Maybe Australia? Canada are favourites.

Yes the Canadians were solid in the final today, I thought Shapovalov might have been the
weak link today but he performed well to get the win. Felix AA has had a super run at the
end of the season, definitely a player to watch next year, he has definitely improved over
the course of 2022.

I didn't make a bet on today's final, I was half looking at Australia purely on the better
odds but it was hard to ignore Canada.

After a century Canada have won the championship. Davis Cup termed as the World Championship of Tennis. Canada had its first participation back in 1913 and today it have marked it's debut championship. The country that was almost out of the tournament have finally won the trophy. Canada have got to be good with its team performance over the years. During the year 2019 they reached the Davis Cup finals and this time they've won it for the country.

There is plenty of tennis in the Davis cup. It was quite an exciting match. I also read something about Canada, that they would go to the final as a lucky loser, but I have no idea what that is based on. Maybe that's because they were still allowed in the schedule because a country has withdrawn, for example? The next Grand Slam is the Australian open in January, in which all eyes will be on Djokovic. He is finally allowed to participate in the tournament again. He will have many fans but also the necessary opponents due to his attitude in the corona era.

De Minaur is indeed a talented player, he is still young at 23 and is ranked 24. Is he a top
10 player? there is a lot of quality players he needs to leap frog, from where he is there is
a very talented top 20 players like Tiafoe, Berrettini, Sinner, Norrie and Rune before getting
into the top 10.

De Minaur is indeed a talented player, he is still young at 23 and is ranked 24. Is he a top

into the top 10.

Being young and within the top 25 will surely land him into the top 10, if he was able to continue his kind of game without getting into injuries. With tennis players, injury is a big thing that could completely change the career progress. More talented young players keeps emerging, so it is the younger generation of tennis. If I'm not wrong, all that mentioned sits down to the age of 30.

It obviously harder to get from 24 to 10 than it is to get into the top 50 for example
and harder still to make it into the top 10. The talent gets better and better the higher
you climb.

Which players being De Minaur will likely enter the top 20 in 2023?

One that stands out for me is Tommy Paul, he had a really strong finish to the season.

and I think we need to reserve a spot on at least the top 20 for Dominic Thiem !

There are a lot o potential on Alex De Minaur and I will admit that I'm a fan of him in the beginning. Unfortunately, he has a tough matches against top 5 players, but he had his first success against Medvedev,

I feel like the improvement was hindered when he started taking things a little easier, especially after he had moved up through the ranks, very fast, and got into the 18th rank. He has to understand that the work that he had to do when he jumped from 208 to 31 rank, he will have to do much more work to get to the top 10 positions or higher. This is why it is so critical for him to be in the top 10 because that is when he is entering elite level competitions.

It’s like we see things being done in a video game. It is easy to beat hundreds of pawns but it is really hard to beat one king. Right now, things are looking rosy for him. He has started to improve. So, I think next year the expectations are going to be higher for him.

Obviously in the ATP and WTA there are no tournaments happening. We can be sure most
of the players are hard at work training for the new season.

There are still lower tournaments happening at Challenger and ITF levels, just wondering if anyone
is betting on these?

Alexander Zverev is back after 7 months. Today he played against the Austrian Thiem at the show tournament in Saudi Arabia. The Round 1 is played in match tiebreak. He won this round in 2 sets with 10-8 and 10-7. Now he will play the next rount against Medvedev. From round 2 onwards it will be played in 2 sets as usual.
I am happy that he can play tennis again and hopefully he will be back in the top ten soon.

in attendance.

Yeah, the matches were played between the 12 big names of Tennis. Three days to have some power packed matches from the top players. As said the format isn't understanding, and for today the singles and doubles matches are being played. It completely looks like an compliment event conducted in Saudi Arabian Town Diriyah.

Indeed, the format is unusual. But this tournament is certainly a change from training for the players. Zverev lost the match against Medvedev 0:6 and 4:6. But it was clear that he would not win after this long break. But it was important for him to be able to play.

But there were two surprises: Wawrinka won against Rublev and Tsitsipas lost against Norrie. Considering that Wawrinka is already 37 years old, that was a strong performance.
