Yep, after beating Medvedev I kinda expected Kyrgios to go through. I also expected Berrettini to be a tougher challenge for Ruud - so overall a quite unexpected day yesterday.

I will go against the herd today and bet on Sinner against Alcaraz. I do feel Alcaraz has more chance of winning - but I think the bookies made him a much bigger favorite than he currently is.
I have to say I like the odds on Rublev as well - so I'll probably try betting on him too.

Good to hear that Nick has nothing to say bad against Karen in their gruelling five sets match. Two big servers, in the end it was Karen to make some pressure shots down the line. I must admit that I was surprised because we all know that Karen is somewhat very inconsistent, but in this tournament he was really focus. And so he will have Casper Ruud to face next. Probably this could be another five setter for him.

it gets really interesting, Ruud and Khachanov in first semi-final

Going by the Tennis live rankings Ruud is now up to 2nd place! " If " he wins the final he will go into 1st,
thats unbelievable! I didnt see that coming at all.

Khachanov has become it. After Kyrgios was more convincing against Medvedev before Khachanov was more focused this time. This is the first time Khachanov has reached a Grand Slam semi-final.

If Rudd wins and he will be #1 was not on my list either. But he played very convincingly against Berrettini and I would not be surprise if he reaches the final.

Yea its hard to believe that he is #2 already.

Berrettini was winning 5-2 the third set and he was able to loss all 5 (FIVE) game in a row !
Dismal game by the Italian player, he is strong (some shots are always impressive) but such performance are really unbelievable .
Probably Ruud can reach the final, he is playing good tennis and this is not the first good result he achieve this year.

I wonder if his fitness levels can be questioned? and you still gave Sinner to cheer for.
I think Janick has improved a good bit this year and I would like to see him getting
past Alcaraz.

Re: Kyrgios, I didnt realise this but seemingly before the match with Karen he said he was
feeling a lot of pressure, I didnt see the match but well done to Karen, he is on a roll

Yes, most likely we might see a new no. 1 after this tournament, as Nadal and Medvedev is out and so is Djokovic. And it looks like the era of big 3 is coming to an end now, but hopefully we can see another set of players coming as the heir apparent, like Alcaraz and Sinner. Rublev vs Tiafoe, let's see if Tiafoe can continue his giant run. One of the favorite, Nick is gone so the crowd will have to find someone to cheer and it could be Alcaraz.

About Berrettini yesterday was really "out of head" and play without concentration. He also admitted this in some interviews.
Probably he was also tired and not fully fitness, however Ruud was very great Sad

Below there are the statistics for their previous matches (Sinner vs Alcaraz). It's interesting to see how they will perform this time...
Yes for sure I love to see Sinner as winner but probably this is not the right time ... but let's see! a surprise it's always possible since they are both young players Tongue
....
They have played on this surface only 1 time (Alcaraz win).
On 2022 Sinner has won all match (2 !) , and generally speaking they have won 2 match each!
It would be a great match... As Italian of course I am a great fan of Jannik Sinner, And I hope I could achieve semi-final Tongue

Every good thing is going to end, and now we are heading for new era with new quality players are going to replace old ones even still chances are bright as Djokovic will fight back and give good challenge to these youngsters in coming matches but sadly due to restrictions he can't go Australia and USA which is big set back for him and his game Nadal is fighting with his injury problem so can he survive it is big question as well with Roger Federer is already out of this race with his injury issue which mean just Djokovic can do something with now these new generation players are having much better chance for staying here and give their best.

I was positive about Nick Kyrgios, but his mental health is not allowing him for going at top and now Ruud, Alcaraz and two Russians are having better chance for staying at top.

Kyrgios is most likely to win this if I am asked, he has persisted long enough and deserves it.
Big dissapointment, I am part of those who expected him to go all through to the finals, it looked like he expected that of himself as well, guess that's why he was really frustrated and smashed his racket after the game. It was a tight game between him and Karen Khachanov and to Khachanov who emerged the winner, it meant a lot to him as he was really thanking everyone during his interview after the game, It is the first time for him in his career to progress into the semi final of this competition. Congratulations to him and since he was the one who defeated our champion, I personally now expect much from him.

And Tiafoe beat Rublev in 3 sets, almost all of the games went into tie-break. But Tiafoe converted one in the 3rd set and it was enough for him to win against Rublev.

Waiting for the result between Alcaraz and Sinner. They are schedule to play at in 3 hours. But since the match of Tiafoe and Rublev ended much earlier. The Alcaraz vs Sinner could be advance as well and hopefully I can still watch it my timezone.

From the fourth round onwards we keep on seeing unexpected results. The same continues with the quarter finals. Everything is going good, players won have reached semis for the first time. This Match too is completely un predictable. Jannik Sinner have got the highest winning probability, but we don't know what is going to be the outcome.

Just checking in on "the result" of the Sinner v Alcaraz and I cant believe they are still playing,
and in the 5th set. I see that Alcaraz has a 61% win probability and the 5th set is on serve.

I would love to watch it but cannot, It looks like a right thriller.

I dont have a bet on this one, the odds ATM are 2.1 - 1.75

Just checking in on "the result" of the Sinner v Alcaraz and I cant believe they are still playing,
and in the 5th set. I see that Alcaraz has a 61% win probability and the 5th set is on serve.

I would love to watch it but cannot, It looks like a right thriller.

I dont have a bet on this one, the odds ATM are 2.1 - 1.75

Yes still playing 5 sets and it's been 5 hours, what an amazing match this is.
Alcaraz saved 1 match point this became the turning point. And now leads 5-3 in 5th set
Whoever will win this match he has a shorter rest time than the other semifinalists and fatigue can affect his match in the semifinals.

But when the time showing 3.00 am still a healthy time for athletes to keep competing?

Edit : Alcaraz won the match, big appluse for both

Great game from Tiafoe. Very concentrated and with the audience as a backup he managed to reach the semi-finals Rublev realised early that he would only make it to the quarter-final again. That must be really frustrating to realise that it is not enough for the really big tennis match. But that is a matter of nerves. And with the right mental coach at his side, he could solve this blockade.

Classic tennis match between the next two gen player, Alcaraz won over Sinner in five sets.

He was down 1-2 and then he come back rallying in the last two set to win in more than five hours and will now face Tiafoe in the semis.

It was like watching Nadal and Federer, a rivalry that was fun to watch because each one is so great that you don't know who is going to win in the end.

I just saw the highlights and it looked like a great match. I planned to watch but it was during the night here - so I managed to catch only a few last games when I woke up.

Alcaraz looks most likely to win it now - if he did, he'd claim the 10th spot in the 'youngest GS winners' list. Since Sampras in 1990, only Nadal won it younger than Alcaraz will be if he wins.
He'll be the youngest no. 1 ever though - with both Hewitt and Safin being over 20 when they reached no. 1.

Both would be terrific achievements and would be well deserved.

agree for Alcaraz, he is probably the best player that turned up after big three, and with a litlle luck for him we can be back to Federer like era between 2005-2010, where he was as dominant as one can be

Sinner had it all, but lost his chance in tenth game, fourth set, give it a thought to put some small bet on Alcaraz then, but it was during breakfast and missed it

with all said, I would not count out Khachanov to give Alcaraz hard time in final, if it comes to that, still remember his win over Djokovic on Masters, he could play great when it is his day
Tiafoe and Ruud have chances, but I do not think they could win it

We have been waiting for who is going to replace the big 3 and it seems that we have found the answer in Alcaraz. And his game doesn't have any flaws right now, Sinner has the chance to win this game but Alcaraz save the break point and won it. And then he put a lot of pressure on Sinner, in which he wasn't able to respond. And I guess whoever wins the Alcaraz vs. Tiafoe will most likely raise the trophy this year.

What speaks in favor of Alcaraz at this point is the moment when he turned the situation around in the fifth set when he was a break behind. My reason for that is that Sinner also looked extremely strong and stable, but still it wasn't enough to beat Alcaraz. The defense game of Alcatraz partially reminded me of Djokovic. You just can't get the ball pass him without Alcatraz getting his racket to the ball no matter what. Speed, precision, everything was insane by Sinner, but Alcaraz returned it. The guy is fun to watch and given that he is 19 years old, that is a great player in the making for the future.

After this thrilling last quarterfinal Possible word confusion lineup is completed for semifinal with no big one is available in this lineup, and we have all new faces which is very interesting Alcaraz vs Tiafoe and Khachanov vs Ruud here predictions are not easy as things are going to be tricky with Tiafoe done great job in last two matches against Nadal and Rublev and have good record against Alcaraz with two wins out of two matches hopefully this time he will be done again good job and try to win this grand slam for his country.

Khachanov vs Ruud is also very interesting match with after beating Kyrgios he is on his best but Ruud is also very good promising player who can do anything in this match and for his first Grand Slam title.
