Brooksby vs Paire, I'm liking Paire at +5.5 although odds is 1.64. Might do another multi betting.
Paire is really risky player when you are betting on him to cover handicap. He is very capable but mentally unstable. I have seen and lost money on too many his matches to ever include him on my tickets agsin. He can simply break apart in any period of the match and not win a single game afterwards.

Right, and Paire lost with that huge margin, 6-3,6-1.

Nick match against Gojowczyk was cancelled when I did check the scores and it seems most seeded players went through to next round.

In the round of 16, top seed Opelka will go up against Ivashka. Then Americans Isner, second seed vs. Shelton.

Paire is not a reliable player as has been mentioned, I wouldnt bet on him at all.

I have changed temporarily my outlook on Kyrgios, I had a bet on him to win against
Gojowczyk. Lets see how he performs in Atlanta after his result at Wimbledon.

I also had Musetti to win yesterday which he did at Umag and plays Cecchinato next.

Good to see Thiem back in decent form after the injury. He said "I'm almost back at the level I had before my injury during training. There are still a few things left in competition. still week to week I've improved, and I'm feeling good. I've mentally progressed a lot.

This was before his match against Sebastian Ofner, who he beat an hour ago. Thiem now reaches his 3rd consecutive Quarter finals and will be close to ranked 170. He will face Yannick Hanfmann next.

agree, it is good to see Thiem back close to top form, he can actually win one of these 250 tournaments
and with Berettinni out now, this tournament looks good to win it, for him, Agut is still there, but others should be easier to beat

from next week focus is back to USA tour, and Djokovic possible play

Lets hope he can reach his old level again that he had in 2020 where he reached the final of the Australian Open and won the US Open. If that would be the case, we can get some interesting grandslams as you still have Djokovic and Nadal and on the other hand the "young" generation with Medvedev, Alcaraz, Thiem,...

He has reach the QF or SF or his last tournament if I'm not mistaken, so definitely he may have gotten his form already.

As for the Paire bet, yeah, if I have seen @Trofo's advise, I could have stir away from him. So as a result my parlay was destroyed by Paire not covering that handicap, but that is ok.

So Nick has pulled out, that's what I read due to injuries. But fans are giving him credit now, unlike before, wherein he is the most hated player.

Holger Rune has had a crazy drop off in terms of quality and levels after some commendable performances in the slams. He beat Tsitsipas in Wimbledon and then lost to Ruud and since then, he hasnt won a single match. Lost 7 matches in a row. He's lost to Carreno Busta, Peniston, Giron, Husler, Griekspoor and very recently to Zapata Miralles. High hopes from this kid and at the moment seems to be on a down ward spiral. Hope he picks things back up soon.

I was also looking at Rune after that upset win against Tsitsipas. But after that never heard from him. So he lost 7 matches in a row? There are some names in their, however, Peniston or Giron or Husler, he should have won that. Anyhow, let's see how he goes and hopefully he can get over that slump. Ivashka continuing his winning form in Atlanta, winning against Johnson of USA, and should be facing the top seed Opelka.

A few seeds dropped out of Atlanta Open because apparently its unbearable weather there. The heat + humidity makes it even worse for most of the players. Big names include Nick Kyrgios, Riley Opelka citing injury concerns.
Also, an injured Zverev will be world no.1 by 15th of August unless Dani Medvedev reaches the final at Los Cabos (or) reaches quarterfinals at Canadian Open (or) semifinals at Los Cabos + at least 3rd Round at Canadian Open. This is all assuming Zverev himself doesn't play in Canada.

Seems 2 Australians are going to play against each other in round of 16. De Minaur and Duckworth, haven't seen the odds, but maybe I will bet later and go with the Over in this match as this could be a 3 set match between this two.

Only 3 seeded left, Isner (2), De Minaur (3) and Brooksby (6). The games though are kinda late in my timezone so I have to bet this early. Los Cabos tournament though, lots of good name, and defending champion is Norrie of England so this could be an interesting tournament in the coming days.

One of my rules for betting on Tennis is: Do not bet on a person who'd just won a title couple of days ago. That's because generally the drive and fitness is just not easy to sustain for 2 tournaments in a row. Unless you are part of the Big 4. Those guys are a different breed but almost anyone else, is bound to lose to a decent quality opponent. That's what is happening now at Umag. Cecchinato is a set and a break up against Musetti and looks very likely that Musetti will go down in 2 sets. If Musetti somehow makes a comeback, I'd be very surprised.

You are right vennali, I suffered last year with Sinner I think but this year one player has defied
that rule! Alcaraz won a number of tournaments and finished quite high in others.

Rio Open - Won the final
Mexican Open - Semi final loss
Miami Open - Final win
Barcelona - Final win
Madrid Open - Final win

So betting on him would surely have made anyone profits but yes I agree with venalli, usually
it doesnt work out and maybe Musetti doesnt get a "double bounce"

He is still a kid. You cannot expect him to play at a top level all of the time. Even Alcaraz dosent play at that top level all of the time. This kids need time,Rune is lost now and will need time to get back on track. This players that he lost to are all solid players he still needs experience to win them all easily

Alcaraz is now especially very changeable. I think he's still a little under the pressure. But he, too, is only a child in fact. When he is a bit older and more experienced he will withstand the pressure better. We have seen that he has what it takes to become the next Nadal. Nadal was looking for a new gravel king because he is now at the end of his career, but for now Nadal is still the clay king. It is impressive how many times he has won Roland Garros. I don't think we will ever see a player who wins Roland Garros more times than Nadal has.

Alcaraz is already very mature and I am really impressed with his mental resilience. That is something we almost never see in young players and I am quite sure we have future number 1 one in him. Don't even see who can compete with him after Nadal and Djoković finish their careers.

Musseti on the other hand is just a talented youngster. We have heaps of those and very small number of them actually make a great career. He is definitely one of those that I am surprised he even won one tournament and wouldn't dream on betting on him to continue the streak.

You are right vennali, I suffered last year with Sinner I think but this year one player has defied
that rule! Alcaraz won a number of tournaments and finished quite high in others.

Rio Open - Won the final
Mexican Open - Semi final loss
Miami Open - Final win
Barcelona - Final win
Madrid Open - Final win

So betting on him would surely have made anyone profits but yes I agree with venalli, usually
it doesnt work out and maybe Musetti doesnt get a "double bounce"

He might be the only exception the what I've said earlier. This kid is built different from the others. Highly motivated(well, at least for now and hope it lasts) and highly skillful + the physicality to go along with it. He is quintessentially the next Nadal in the making and he's from Nadal's academy as well.

In other news, Thiem loses to Yannick Hanfmann in Austria. The crowd were buzzing everytime Thiem won a point irrespective of whether it was an error from Hanfmann or a winner from Theim but, in the end it wasnt enough. Hanfmann was playing some high quality tennis while Thiem made a ton of unforced errors. There might still be a few months of injury free match practice before we see Thiem back in form.

I made the big mistake to place a bet on Thiem Smiley he has the chance to close the match and wasted everything... crowd screaming is something normal in such condition, I am not surprised at all...
However I think he has to recover a lot after his injury, he is far away from TOP condition Roll Eyes

The first set just ended between swiatek and garcia and the result was shocking garcia managed to win 6 1 a really bad set from swiatek i didn't see her perform so poorly in a while, it seems french players have figured out how to stop her but i don't think its over swiatek still can make a comeback and now we have a decent odd for her winning.

For his age, Alcaraz is mature and he will become world number 1 and will win some grandslams. But do you think, he will be able to dominate the field in a similar way as Djokovic, Nadal and Federed did ?
The competition is quite fierce nowadays: Medvedev, Kyrgios, Tsitsipas, Sinner, Thiem, Zverev,...

-snip

The competition is quite fierce nowadays: Medvedev, Kyrgios, Tsitsipas, Sinner, Thiem, Zverev,...

I do not see these players as fierce competition, especially not one able to fight with Alcaraz
would even argue that generation with Berdych,  Del Potro, Soderling, Cilic, Wawrinka was much better and won few GS with Federer, Djokovic, Nadal in their prime

nowadays, that fierce competition cannot win GS, even with Djokovic and Nadal in their 35's, Alcaraz is the one to dominate it
