They have now Westbrook as their facilitator and if LBJ averages 20-25 PPG, he can surpass the current record in 1-2 seasons. This includes also playoffs and if he will get injured. I would love to see that event happen though that Kareem himself will cheer on LBJ when he surpasses the record Smiley.

That's achievable for Lebron James in 2 seasons, I also made a computation on my own, 72 games in the regular season, plus playoffs since the Lakers will certainly enter in the playoffs without a problem.

He just to ensure he is healthy, so he can score every game and he will be able to make a history being the number 1 in scoring in 2 to 3 seasons.

Lebron still looks young, though already at 36 years old, he is still very dominant, so nothing is impossible because he is a special player.

It just surprises me that John Wall is already out of Houston? He seems to be doing good, maybe Houston is going to rebuild again with young guys, the Harden and Paul was really the closest they can get to the finals and win another ring for the franchise. Yeah, a Simmons and Wall trade might work both ways, so let's see if Sixers are willing to do that.

I was exited to see Jalen Green playing alongside with Wall, thinking that he's (Wall) leadership will help the youngsters to build their names inside this league. It was a surprise knowing that he's done now. The trade between him and Simmons might work in terms of stats and value. Maybe Sixers managements will accept this one if Houston is also interested, fair enough if there's no other demands from both ends.

Great to see Aaron Gordon get his 92 million dollar bag today. He has in my mind the greatest dunk ever in a dunk contest and was robbed of two dunk championships by terrible judges. He deserves the $ just for that in my opinion. It’s been a long grind for him getting all his skills in order, but he’s a threat from anywhere now and a great pickup for any team.
Nuggets have to give him more touches on the ball, they should not rely so much on Jokic as they are easy to predict that way. Next season, when Murray comes back, this Nuggets team will have a big 3, I'm talking about players that could consistently contribute to the team.

A silent Big three but stats wise, they are good all-around players.

This 4 years $92M extension will inspire Gordon to play harder, with a healthy Jamal and Jokic, expect
to see Nuggets playing much better.

Do you guys think he can manage that amount?

Huge possiblity that LeBron can break that record If he continues to play till his 40 or even 39. He only needs to average 10+ ppg.
LeBron can still score 20+ ppg, but with the current Lakers roster, he might not be able to score that much as most of the Laker acquisition this year is an offensive threat.
However, LeBron can do more triple doubles with a team who has a higher consistency scoring rate and he needs to be active on grabbing the rebounds as well.
I hope so. Maybe it's time for some change in the rankings and I will be glad it happened in my era. Though I am not one of his big fans, I think he deserve to be on the top. Punctuality, taking care of your body, hard work and so much more, he did it all and showcased it in the basketball floor to entertain and achieve his goals.
He may really break the record  as @rhomelmabini said. 1k+ points per season will be enough for 3 more years and he is just 39 after that. He could play another year if he feels like he can still do it, just to give the next player a difficult time to break the new record.  Grin

I'm always thinking LeBron is aiming to create his legacy by cementing records after records, and he might consider retiring at the age of 41 or maybe more. I mean Vince Carter has retired at 42. So, who knows LeBron is in a much greater shape than Vince when he's 37. But the main reason why LeBron needs to be healthy and play basketball till he's 40 because he's son might get into the NBA at age of 18. So, LeBron will have another record in the NBA as the only player who are still active that also have a son that actively playing in the NBA as well, or might be better If they will be on the same team.
Bronny is 16, LeBron's contract in the Lakers will end in 2 years. So, I guess there will be a huge possiblity they'll play on the same team "IF" Bronny will be drafted to the NBA.

4 years contract. Wow. This is something to be thankful about, they gave them the break that he needed and I bet he will enjoy his next 4 years with good players around him.

I agree. Give some proper rotation for him. But last year was okay since he was newly added in trade for Gary Harris and the chemistry is not there yet.
This season though may be a lot different. With Murray back in November or December from recovery they will be at full blast again.
MPJ should also start sharpening his outside shots because there's a chance they will be in the Semis again or more.

It would be interesting to see how Lebron and his son play together or against each other. However, his son won't be able to play in the NBA at 18 because all players must be at least 19 years old to be eligible to participate in the NBA Draft. So we can expect that Lebron will continue to play even after the end of the 22/23 season.

That will be the best ever experience for LeBron James.
He is now at the 3rd rank of All-time scoring leaders (35,367) and above him is Karl Malone (36,928). At the top is Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (38,387).
Lebron just lacks 3,520 + 1 more point to achieve it. Do you guys think he can manage that amount? He stopped being an offensive guy (points) and most of the time he finishes in double-double or triple double. His stats are now stretched because he became the facilitator of the Lakers.
It always depends on injuries. When Kobe retired he looked very far away from Kareem, however that dude was averaging 27+ points and retired at like 36-37 years old. If Kobe didn't get injured, he would have at least 3 or even 4 more seasons with at least 25+ points (not because he will keep being awesome which might happen but he was given the ball at all times in Lakers) so that means he would had 8k+ points instead of 3-4k on his last 4 years, add in a few more years of him being old and not as great as he was, dude could have reached nearly 45k points let alone 40k, the chance was there to break over 40k very easily for him, it wasn't even a question of "will he?" it was just matter of time.

However he got injured and eventually retired. Same exact thing applies to Lebron. It is not about "will he?" obviously he will break it without a doubt, but if he gets injured enough to never make a proper comeback? Then he is out as well.

That would be fun for sure, and when Lebron retires, he will also see his son playing in the NBA, but I don't expect him to be as great as his father. Lebron lasted this long and able to keep his health because he is not only talented or gifted, he also knows how to take care of his body.

Lebron has to take care of his body, and having surrounded by star players, he won't have to sweat that much in order for the win to the team and the risk of getting injured is slow. Westbrook and Davis could do the offense more while Lebron just has to do whatever thinks he can help the team.

He doesn't need to chase breaking the record so fasts, even at 15 ppg, he would be able to become the number  1 in the ranking if he keeps himself healthy all the time.

Also, seeing his son playing in the NBA, that's another major achievement and he will be so proud of himself.

I'm just excited to see jalen play.  I think in the end he is better than Cunningham but I can still see why Detroit took cade.  Jalen probably has more risk to him but just watching some of his clips, he looks ready to compete day 1.  So ready for the season to start again.

There are some factors that might affect this but with how he is playing these past seasons and as long as he will be healthy all throughout the season, I think that he can still surpass Kareem's record.
We've seen Lebron as a passer and with Westbrook as his teammate and we know how he is playing, I think that Lebron will focus more on points than assist but still we don't know what are his plans.

Everything is running smoothly and everyone is expecting Lebron to pass Kareem within 3-4 seasons since he left the Cavaliers but injury spoiled that momentum on 2018-19 season where James was sidelined for long and the Lakers didn't make it to the playoffs. 17 games missed on that season.

The next following season, 2019-20 the Lakers, now with Anthony Davis, now becomes fully in shape to chase the championship on that season. LeBron is now returning to his usual phase like he's not aging or what and in the end, they won an NBA title.

Moving forward from 2020-21, LeBron James suffers an injury again and that makes him sidelined for 20 games during the season.

Imagine around 40 games missed and let's say with a 20-25PPG average, that's about around 800 to 1,000 points that James is supposed to achieve right now. He's now seeing hitting the age and 25 PPG now is a tough task for LeBron. He is turning 37 this year. Good thing there's Westbrook that will now act as their PG so LeBron no need to be athletic fully per game.

I agree, $92 million contract is really good for him. One of the best dunker of our generations, although lately when he transfer to Denver we haven't seen some highlights because he is being used as a defender as opposed when he was in the Nuggets wherein he needs to score more. Denver still looks solid, with reigning MVP and the Michael Porter Jr, and hopefully when Jamal Murray comes back, they are still going to be one of the best in the West.

Most times basketball players start nose diving at this age in terms of minutes played and points per 36min as well.  Lebron is different for sure but between all of the playoff games, international games, etc he has a lot of nba miles on those tires.

James can still score more than 25 PPG, and I guess he will be able to focus on scoring points next season. By the way, Westbrook will make this task easier for James because he will do other work on the court. I'm sure that Russell won't leave the court until he makes another triple-double (it's a joke Smiley).

Naturally I don't think he's even wants to be a 25pt scorer he was in his career earlier on and in games where he had no one around him he has to press the issue.  But he wants to more be a point forward than anything, and run the game.  He has brow, Westbrook etc to light up the scoreboard.  I can see him settle in at 18-20 points a game.  They are going to manage his minutes so long as the bench is healthy.

Perhaps the points was being projected to be his average if he ever want to break Jabbar's record. If he can't score 25 ppg then maybe he will need more games to tie and surpassed it.

I agree that there are a lot of options in the Lakers, unlike before it was him and AD. But we have Westbrook and a bunch of experienced players that can have their prime back and give us a game that we can remember.

Great decision. Yes!
As a Denver Nuggets fan, this will really be helpful for Jokic. Paul Milsap is already out so he needs a power forward that could help him take defensive and offensive rebounds below the rim. Porter Jr. is still young and they should also consider him as a shooting guard where he is good at.
With the help of Jeff Green and JaMychal Green, yes 2 Greens  Grin they now have a solid painted area defense.
Campazzo can take care of the outside and be a pest to point guards.

Nice to see that Kyrie Irving is still his same toxic self.  After a myriad of wild antics last year it seems the Nets have decided that they might want to move on from the diva guard.  In response to the Nets showing an interest in trading Kyrie, his agent has come out and said publicly that Kyrie will retire before playing with another team, seeming to tank his trade value and force the Nets to keep him on the roster.  Today Kyrie tweeted, My mask is off. Now take yours off. No fear.  He then clarified that this had nothing to do with Covid.  Assumingly, this is his response to the team's trade desire and him playing his "retirement" card.

No surprises though if Nets wanted to trade him, yeah he made his own drama while in the Nets uniform and he thinks that he is untouchable in this league. And for sure Nets have been looking for a way to move him out of the team. Still a win win for Nets if they trade him, for sure they will get a lot of caliber players in exchange. And then the team receiving him could use his service. I think Durant + Harden will be enough for the Nets to win a ring, and let this diva and head ache teammate get out.

Wow. He is really full of himself. I understand why he doesn't want the Nets to let him go, he want to prove himself first putting the Nets to a championship game so that his value will go up again. Because right now, if they let him go, his value will surely go down due to injuries and that bad playoffs event against the Bucks.
His agent is wise also saving his ass from losing a lot of money, use the retirement card because this means like a buyout, right? Correct me if I am wrong.
