Right, nothing has change on Nunn's style of playing, as coach Vogel said, it was just a test and he will rotate more player entering the regular season. So nothing to be taken seriously in this game, the second stringers did have some time on this game though and it was good for them.
-
I don't know why you're all trying to downplay what I said. Yes it is just a preseason game and yes he won't be a regular starter but you have to understand the main point of my post which is him spending too much time on the ball. If the time comes that he will lead the second squad and he still dribbles too much, what do you think is the impact of that on the result of the game? I'm trying to see where he could still improve but it seems you're all content with how he is now.

Yes, I get the point you are trying to make and I kind of agree with you. I do think that he spends a bit too much time on the ball and maybe over-dribbles it sometimes, which sometimes could backfire in getting the ball stolen and resulting in a turnover.  Maybe he can change his playstyle a bit and that might help his team more. But he will get his minutes and I hope that he can make the best of his minutes.

Ben Simmons will start to lose $360,304 for every game missed, starting Monday night in Toronto.
New information included on whether Simmons can recoup the loss in game pay if he is eventually traded: https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/32135075/everything-know-know-ben-simmons-philadelphia-76ers-their-trade-impasse

That is gonna be pretty tough for Ben. Being fined over 360,000 dollars for every game he misses is gonna be a huge financial hit to Simmons. What I think the best option would be for both the parties is for the Sixers to trade Simmons off. But the problem is, the Sixers are looking for better options in order to trade Ben off. But I don't think any of the team will be looking to trade their start point guard for Ben at this moment. Even if Ben is traded to a sub-par team, they won't have the quality player to add to the trade. Let's see what we get to see next.

It is crazy to think someone would pass on that sort of money for any reason. I can relate to him though. When you have a shitty boss that doesn’t have your back, sometimes it isn’t about the money. It’s about getting away from toxic people who will turn their back on you when you need it. People like that are beyond useless and I get where Ben is coming from. I hope he finds a new team and sticks it to the 76ers whenever they play. The way that city turned on him during the playoffs last year was disgraceful.

I am assuming the game would change a bit wouldn't it? I mean without this rule it was three point era and everyone is shooting three pointers that is for sure however how well do you think will this rule work?

I assume that people may end up not creating their own shots too much anymore, defenders will eventually realize that these fouls won't be called and they will defend better and shooters will realize they can't get that foul anymore so they will try to find even more open places. All in all I believe this may hurt the all around three points taken in a game average down this year. Not that I am complaining, I believe it is a marvelous decision, just waiting to see how it will work.

I award the NBA for instituting this.  Tired of watching guys lean into defenders from 40 feet out.  Will see how good Trae Young really is.  He relies on people not covering him because of his leaning into fouls.  Harden gonna feel this one too.  We need to wheel this back to 90s basketball.

Ya, Paul George is the worst to watch sometimes when he's doing his jump into defenders thing.

On a different note, I can't believe the Suns are not wanting to give DeAndre Ayton his max contract.  He was the reason they had such a good playoff run and if he hadn't completely disappeared vs the Bucks things might have been different.  He's still young and probably not worth the money to be honest, but he's developing fast and if he can find a way to keep that energy that got him through the first few rounds of the playoffs, dude will be a beast.  Not sure salting the relationship is something Suns management should be doing, but it's Suns management...  Did we really think they were going to be able to keep a team competitive?

He has to be there at most times and plays safe so that he doesn't get injured and get to play for the team for each of their matches.

Yeah if I were the Suns I'd lock him up.  Dude is a good one.  Not many true centers in the league and the (man)kid is going to only get better with time.  They need Book and aytun for the long run and can keep.piecing around them.

Crazy idea to let him go knowing that dude have a huge potential, he has so many years to improve since he's young and this is a huge loss for their organization if they let this guy out on their team for not giving him the contract he deserve.

Its good to have him with Booker for long time since they can build more good chemistry together and then grab some quality players that can help them on the court for sure the Suns will be a good contender each year once this guys lock up in this team.

Damn, what a condition.

He has to be there at most times and plays safe so that he doesn't get injured and get to play for the team for each of their matches.

WAT?

LOL. What’s the condition? His mental condition of being afraid to shoot the ball, or his insanity that makes him think that he’s standing up for himself by leaving millions on the table to miss a few practices?  The only thing on him that’s injured is his pride. His hometown fans turned on him and he won’t be gifting them with his presence again as a result. I actually think if he’s financially set, he is probably doing the right thing for his mental health. Sets a bad example though and as a fan of the NBA I think the players are wielding a little too much power these days.

There are rumors that Simmons is selling one of his residences in Philadelphia. So I guess he may not worry about fines at the moment, but it's worth noting that he can still lose $30 mln after the end of the season if nothing changes. Anyway, Simmons needs to improve his mental health because he should be resistant to stress even if he finds a new team.

I agree that Ayton is one reason why the Suns reach that far last season. And it was a resurgent play on the part of DeAndre in their playoffs series against tough opponents, even against Giannis, he stood his ground.

Well they open up some options now for Ayton and think about his future about the Suns. Perhaps it will rub on him the wrong way and maybe left the Suns.

This is a good change IMO, things are getting better with the new rule as there are players who are really good at it although they are the one who initiate the contact. It's one of the major improvement to make the league more interesting, I also hope that the flopping will have a bigger penalty as it's a disgrace to the league.
Yes, that's true.
Most of the players that do these tricks are ball handlers with shooting skills. i.e. Harden, Kyrie, Trae, Curry, PG13, and even Kobe before.

1. Trae has a method of stopping while the defender is chasing him and then using his butt to take the hit for a defensive foul.
2. Harden using his foot mid-air to gain more space and make the defender commit a foul even at a vertical position.
3. PG13 entangling the arms of the defender when they are stretching them while doing a shot attempt for a shooting foul.

All of these examples might not be called anymore or worse they will commit an offensive foul that could be a game-changer when there are seconds left in the game.
I think the NBA will be slowly going back to powering up the inside players like Jokic and Giannis to balance the game.

Fan favorite (at least when he was on the Lakers) Alex Caruso put up a double double off the bench for the Bulls in his first time out with 10 points and 10 assists.  I think the Bulls got themselves a good deal on Caruso as the Lakers decided to draft a younger version of him.

With just 2 weeks to go until opening night for the NBA, it feels like we haven't gotten to see much of the players.  I guess because we're still trying to make up time from the whole Covid bubble thing...

Sixers is not losing grasp with Simmons, they still in control and like how willing
Simmon, in losing a huge chunk of money they are also in the same boat, they don't want to sell this trade as bargain asset.

Whoever team seeks for Simmon's service needs to offer more. Sixers is willing to bench him but keep him still inside their squad.

Only a good deal will change sixers' management minds, I guess. Simmon's case still hanging even the regular season is almost starting.]

Whoever team seeks for Simmon's service needs to offer more. Sixers is willing to bench him but keep him still inside their squad.

Only a good deal will change sixers' management minds, I guess. Simmon's case still hanging even the regular season is almost starting.]

I don't think that's a good idea for the sixers, so you are saying that they are willing to play undermanned this season and sacrifice their chance just to give Simmons a lesson? I guess they should focus on the goal, and that is to win since the management invested a lot of money for their roster, and knowing they are not complete this season, they should not expect a championship, or even a chance to be in the ECF.

That's detrimental to the team, if they will not release Simmons, they are losing every season, instead, if they will release him and get at least a player that could contribute to the team, then Embiid has someone that could help him. They have to think wisely, there's a reason why Simmons was not yet traded and other teams would not just give their player in return for a problem Simmons.

Honestly, I don't expect the scenario would happen, Simmons value = other player value. It could be 100% vs 80% to make the deal successful.

I agree that the referee will have to look closer, if the shooter is going on the defender's body and the defender is going vertical or shall I say straight after the shooter, then it should be a foul on the shooter.
Curry is know to abuse this before, so we will see if referee are going or a "no call", or worst offensive foul on him.
But the one earlier is a clean mistake from Curry's defender. He's really good at attracting the contact,
for sure, Steve Kerr knows the new rule, but he is not convinced that this one is part of it. He smiles while talking to the ref.
But I agree with this new rule as players is no longer can initiate contacts,
Young and Harden are really good at doing this one to get the refs attention,
if the refs will call offensive foul, we will see more adjustment in the players side,
they won't take the risk of doing this old trick.

I think, I kind of like this new rule implemented. Though we might need some more time to judge it perfectly, but from a naked eye, it seems kind of fair to me. Players like Lebron and Harden are good at abusing this technique but I think if this rule is strictly followed, we might see a shift of attackers trying other kinds of playstyle. Maybe just let some games fly by and then we can come to a conclusion about this rule being fair or not.
