I don't see the chances for Yamaha like that, but there are only a few days left until the Grand Prix, on Saturday after the qualifying we will already know more if the Yamaha riders have a chance on the podium, last year Yamaha also had problems with the tyres for a long time. It will take a bit of luck to choose the right tyres for the many laps including corners. At Mandalika it could easily be that the Suzuki riders could be the secret favourites.
The engine character between Suzuki and Yamaha is not much different and last year only Fabio Quartararo was able to keep the tires very well so he could win several races, but for Mandalika there is no record of any races (especially MotoGP) except SuperBike.
So if Suzuki can steal the show in secret, then I'm also sure that Yamaha can do it well too.

Yes the Suzuki and Yamaha have the same engine concept the 4 cylinder inline engine. But it seems that Suzuki has improved the engine a lot in the last two years, last year the engine development was frozen, so the last engine was in use for two years and this year there is a new engine, and all teams except apparently Yamaha have made a step forward, whether the Yamaha is smoother than the Suzuki is hard to say.

Decent odds for Max Verstappen actually.  He's is at 3.00 the last time I looked with Hamilton around 3.45.  And yeah that's the thing, we're all guessing here...  Even the sports betting sites are guessing here.  Cheesy  It's why I think some value could be had before qualifying.  And the sportsbetting sites could also be slow in adjusting the lines for the next couple of races if either of the Ferraris win at Bahrain.

Yeah, you might be right. 3.00 is decent for Verstappen. I wouldn't put any money on Hamilton though, I do think some of the Merc problems are genuine and they will be behind Ferrari and Red Bull at least in the first race. And yes, if Max storms through qualifying and takes a dominant pole, those odds would deteriorate significantly. But I'm still not willing to bet yet... a Max win certainly seems possible, but so many other things seem just as possible, too.

I am super excited to see the F1 season starting this weekend. However, with still nothing known about which car being faster than the other, and which teams figuring out the problems and which ones who haven't, it is going to be hard to wager on the first race. We will obviously see which team will be better after the first race a bit better, but it also doesn't mean that we won't have changes after the first few races.

Even if this bouncing problem exists for most teams, after the first one or two races, we will have all teams figuring out a way to stop that, which will be the real season start. Bahrain will be more like testing 2.0 instead of being a real race if you ask me.

Yes mate, a lot of people who are eagerly looking forward to the start of the new season. I am also very curious, in several ways. Would the engines of Red Bulle and Mercedes be the best again or will Ferrari finally compete for the world title again? It would be nice if we have 3-4 teams that are a serious contender for the championship, and not again the clash between Hamilton and Verstappen, because that gets boring pretty quickly.

A total of 42 marshals on special duty to extinguish the fire that spread across the track along with 10 people who are on standby in the paddock area.

These marshals are part of a team, consisting of five people who will be assigned to a guard post on the 4.31-kilometer Pertamina Mandalika International Street Circuit track.

The training and simulation focus on the basics of recognizing the type of fire according to the material being burned, the use of APAR (light fire extinguishers), and techniques to extinguish the red rooster.

in the pre-season test at the Mandalika circuit some time ago Yamaha gave the 2nd best time and it proved that this circuit is suitable for Yamaha motorcycles, in the Race which will start this weekend I think Yamaha will be able to rise and compete in the front row especially for their rider Fabio Quartararo who was very down in the first Qatar Race 2 weeks ago.

I am super excited to see the F1 season starting this weekend. However, with still nothing known about which car being faster than the other, and which teams figuring out the problems and which ones who haven't, it is going to be hard to wager on the first race. We will obviously see which team will be better after the first race a bit better, but it also doesn't mean that we won't have changes after the first few races.

Even if this bouncing problem exists for most teams, after the first one or two races, we will have all teams figuring out a way to stop that, which will be the real season start. Bahrain will be more like testing 2.0 instead of being a real race if you ask me.

Yes mate, a lot of people who are eagerly looking forward to the start of the new season. I am also very curious, in several ways. Would the engines of Red Bulle and Mercedes be the best again or will Ferrari finally compete for the world title again? It would be nice if we have 3-4 teams that are a serious contender for the championship, and not again the clash between Hamilton and Verstappen, because that gets boring pretty quickly.

@FanEagle my gut feeling tells me that this is the season Ferrari rises and dominates all the other teams, because if they fail to do that then I’m surely going to be disappointed cause they promised a lot for this season. @BitcoinAccepted you’re wrong Hamilton and Verstappen clashes were making F1 interesting last season, and I’m pretty sure their that rivalry is only going to get nasty once the season resumes.

Daniel Ricciardo is positive to COVID.
If he can't recover Oscar Piastri will be probably his substitute for the race, borrowed from ALPINE.

He is an elite driver.

So I just heard Vettel got covid too which really sucks for both drivers as they'd be losing crucial time and with knowing the quirks of these new cars and how to adjust.

Vettel did not travel to Bahrain at all - he still tested positive in Switzerland - and Hülkenberg will drive for Aston Martin in Bahrain instead.

I think Corona will be around for a while this season and Hülkenberg could be in a Formula 1 cockpit more often this year.

It will probably come down to who will be the one who fixes that proposing thing first. Whoever fixes that, will be able to get many points at the first races, obviously other teams will figure out a way eventually after that, but by that time the team with no problems would be ahead.

I keep saying that I feel like this could be the year for Ferrari, Sainz is a great racer as well and finished 5th behind two big teams, and I believe that they could technically win this year if the cars has less dirty air. They always manage to get close, but overtaking red bull and Mercedes is almost always a trouble, with these new designs, we could see Ferrari do a lot better.

To me that looks like they think maybe Ferrari have the best car, but Max and Lewis can compensate for that because they are better drivers in slightly worse cars.

My feeling is that Red Bull have the best car, with Ferrari second, and Mercedes some way behind. I fully expect Mercedes to catch up and maybe even become the top car at some point, but I'm not convinced it will happen in the first race. I'd have Max to win, with Ferraris 2 and 3... and the same for qualifying, unless Perez can somehow split the red cars.
