Ethereum: Good alt or stay away?

Current trend ethereum is goin down . For ethereum success there was lots of Ico happened based on ethereum backed token . In that ico lots became loss for investor some became huge failure.

You don't buy when it's up, you buy when it's down. But I don't think people are obeying this basic rule, and by looking at the marketcap, a lot of people can get burned out of it.

I am sure those who went for the option of staying away would be blaming themselves now that, they should have done otherwise. ETH has actually made a come back from the sleeping position it rested in the past months that makes a lot of people wrote it off. But now, its now a corner stone. What I expect is to see campaigns being paid with ETH, gambling sites start adopting massively, faucets coming out massively for ETH among other improvements to the currency.

Ethereum was run for long time ago, so I'm confident that this altcoin was not scam. I think no risk if we are deposit and invest to this coin because we are all know that we incurred income to this coin. How ethereum could become scam while all the coin have been distributed for so many people around the world? and it's decentralized. it just doesn't make sense if you still think that ethereum is a scam.

Well it already have an impressive result, for the past years that it have been existed. As you can see it is now in the second place of cryptos. And many ICOs have chosen to fork their tokens to Ethereum and quite some of them are successful, so it affected its market price and got boomed at today's state.

Hi everyone, I've been around for a while now.. 
I've seen a lot of posts positive and negative about Ethereum.

At the moment I am holding Bitcoins, but I have invested in some Ether as well.

Now I am wondering, what are legitimate concerns about Ether (except for IPO, as I've already read this in a lot of posts).

So can anyone bring real other issues to the table, to enlighten me (and maybe a lot of other readers?)

By the time that you posted this thread I hope you at least doubled your investment in eth because it is a good coin next to btc. It's normal to have doubts with other coins especially if they just started. We have no idea how it will compete with the crypto community so it's normal to have doubts. But eth we know is the next best thing after btc and thus, have proven itself on its own time. We should remember that btc also started as a valueless coin so we should give other alts the benefit of the doubt and give them a chance to prove their use.

Yes Ether is also my favourite altcoin to invest and after reading the above link i am much more confident that ether have bright future and its will go up surely, all details give in the above link, and all doubt cleared after reading the above link. i think eth in the future will really surpass btc market cap, eth has too many ico recently some are good coins some are not, i can see eth hitting $1000 couple of years from now due to this big market when its ico coins grew very big eth soon will follow, flaws? it also has like its security eth devs must upgrade its systems its smart contract are good points also

Bitcoin is the first cryptocoin, and its application is in a much larger range at the moment.
Ethereum is a good competitor, so if its inventor kept updating and offering competitive advantages, it would a good investment.

I came across this interesting article the other day about the Ethereum 'flash crash' that took place on Coinbase back in June of this year, and how Coinbase is now being investigated by the CFTC for their margin trading service (now discontinued):

I'm wondering if anyone here was impacted by this and how something like this was even possible? It didn't seem to affect the price much at all considering it apparently jumped right back up to the $300 mark but it makes me wonder whether or not something similar can happen to other exchanges?

Yup, correct.

Holding bitcoin and not holding ETH would be the worst decision.

ETH is still under-valued, we can see it being close to at least a half of bitcoin in coming years.
