Or you can switch to ETC or EXP. Probably considerably safer to choose ETC as it's value typically mirrors ETH almost minute by minute.

You mining and holding or mining and selling? Well I'm mining and holding, there is a good chance of an upcoming temporary pump. I'd suggest holding too.

nice tuto, But a 1200w power supply is too small for 6x rx480! Let us assume a maximum consumption of rx480 = 180w 180 x 6 = 1080w Then add the rest of the components, cpu, ssd, ram, fan etc ... Imaginonsu 120w. 1080 + 120 = 1200w Alim certified 80 more (85%) = 1020w 1200 is too small for 6 rx480.

If you have good psu which has 1200W on 12v rail it is enough. 6 x rx480 is around 160W from the wall if you don't overclock much (it's better to undervolt them) which gives around 136-140W from PSU, other components are 40-50W (if you don't mine with your cpu) which gives less than 900W from psu, at the wall is more but this is not important here.

1200 is too small for 6 rx480.
Overclocking or even leaving it standard isn't very efficient (hash per watt). You want to undervolt and underclock and it will be using ~120w per card (including system components).

I consume exactly at the wall: 970w
Gpu settings: 1200mhz / 0.920v 2250mhz / 0.950v memory
It's true that a 1200w can go, but personally I prefer to have a margin, for example has a future change of gpu.

There is a really common misunderstanding by miners, including the author of this article. A PCIe riser works fine in the 16x slot. The little 1x adapter board fits in the first part of the 16x slot. The notch fits perfectly and holds it in place. You just need to make sure you get it seated properly. You never want to use ribbon cables. They are poorly made. The power to the ribbon cable is usually from a cable that is hot glued to the ribbon cable. You can see the globs of hot glue in the photo on the product picture for the 16x ribbon cable at Amazon. (I bought one when I was a newb too.)
