I think we should first wait a bit and take a look at this year is going to bring us, rather than guessing about the next one already.

How so? I've heard the same multiple times for both 2015 and 2016.

2015 got squashed by the blockchain mania.

I`m pretty sure this year will be the big one.

2017 could be the year of the bitcoin. We will have the SegWit implemented, the 2MB block size will also be there.

In 2017 one year after years of halving occurs maybe the beginning of change in bitcoin if followed by that users began to grow and demand will automatically rise. then I will be very happy in that year I'm not too concerned with the "year of bitcoin" I just want high prices and got some benefit from it

Many people don't like it? Where have you heard that? As far as I know the sentiment haven't been better than right now. People are happy and excited the price has gone up nicely.

Don’t know about 2017 but 2016 is really the year of bitcoin, as in this year bitcoin has got a lot of success also the halving is occurring in this year, with that a lot of people are adopted to bitcoin.

And that is why it is too early to say if 2016 will be successful, because we will have that stir around halving being close.
I think that around October it will be safe to say if halving was good for bitcoin market or mess things up.

I guess 2017 has the potential to put all the scalability crap behind us. That's a biggie and the way will be a lot clearer. Other than that I can't really think why it's going to be a wonderful year but I'll wait to be surprised.

I see another thread that bitcoin is the year of bitcoin and i see this thread. I can say the year of bitcoin is this year because the halving event occur on this year and thats very good news and good success for bitcoin enthusiast like us and if in 2017 is have another halving event well i can say its another bright year for bitcoin industry and another earning success to us. And good to get attention globally

I think now is the year of bitcoin because we will see that the price will increase more around 600-900 after block halving..
This is just my though.. but if we see more great opportunity in 2017 about bitcoin and more store are accepting bitcoin as payment.. maybe 2017 is the year of the bitcoin..

Everyone is hoping that the value will be more worth in the future and that is because they want to sell it soon in the future and that should be perfect and also nice for the currency itself.
But the bad thing is that you never know what can happen with the currency itself so you have to also now that it can takes a long time until it would be more worth.

what upcoming events are you talking about? there is only the block halving that people put too much faith in and maybe the block size that will get increased to 2mb this year. the latter will most likely have only a very short term price increase as result.

I believe also that bitcoins will rise its value in 2017. It will become more stable with the support of massive adoption from different industries, I hope that time the online stores industry will have a massive adoption so we can choose a good merchant. Right now the gambling industry is very well adopting and I believe it will multiply by year 2017.

If 2016 halving makes the present year effective, we'll see a big price and this gives a gradual increase in price on 2017. So only if 2016 doesn't look to be effective 2017 might get small probability of being the year of bitcoin.
