Somehow I can't get my miner to mine on Alpereum pool

Anyone knows how to join this, my miner just crash everytime it tries to join this pool.

I am having an issue where my rig is mining but it isn't being displayed in my simplemining.net/dashboard. I have saved my email address to the config.txt.

I have noticed that in Ubuntu it says when starting,

and nothing updates when I change options on my dashboard

I just got my 7th GPU up and running on an MSI Z170A Gaming M5. So far so good, and if you have a local MicroCenter (I forget if you are in the US), they tend to have several open box discounts. The salesperson I spoke with said they tend to get a lot of returns for this board because it is an entry level "gaming board," and a lot of 12 year old kids end up buying the wrong processor. I didn't know how to feel about that. Regardless, they are available for $100 here on a fairly regular basis, and $120 all the time.

If you buy this board, this is all you have to do to get it working with 7 cards:

--upgrade to the latest BIOS
--activate 4G decoding in PCIe BIOS options
--select IGE (i.e., integrated graphics) as the preferred video source upon bootup.
----there are a couple posts floating around where people state you have to select a different PCIe speed. DON'T DO THIS. It will cause all sorts of problems and is unnecessary since the release of the latest BIOS update.


That's it, and you can run 7 cards with it.

Yep, new Beta updates (which you need to use yourself) :
- first beta kernel update 4.11
- then beta amd driver 16.60
And the speeds are very close to windows.
And i dont need to tell you how windows vs linux works in other maters

IMHO, for 6XGPU motherboards, I think mining purposed : H81s (Asrock) and TB85s (Biostar) is the mobo to get.

If you want the 7xGPU variation, then you can either use the PCI splitter method, in which this will be an addon to your H81 or TB85. Although it allows you to do up to 8xGPU, only up to 7 GPU works with Windows or Linux. The 8th GPU may need some custom driver or other Windows Enterprise hacks, to work but I gave up getting on the 8th GPU to work.

OR

Get mobo that supports Z170/Z270 Intel chipset popular for gaming often with nerd-approved features... multiple crossfire or SLI capability, highend hifi sound, blinking lights, "R" - racing stripes, etc.... hence this mobo usually have a lot of PCI slots, which just perfect for mining (although it was not designed for mining). Standard Z170/Z270 mobo usually works up to 4 x PCI slots out of the box (I guess no gamer is mad enough to have 2 x SLIs or 2 x Crossfire configured GPUs). To enable the remaining PCI slots to use for 7xGPU mining.... well thats not straight forward. I myself have the Biostar Z170-GT7, and after many attempts, BIOS upgrades, etc... it just too many things to do to get it to work (meaby... ). However, I know some miners have got them going to 7 x GPUs. I wish they share their secrets so that we know what to do...

Now, I am working on my 2nd GPU farm, and I decided I will use only the H81 and TB85 motherboard, mainly because it's purposely designed for mining, so it has no-frills features, below $100 bucks or less, need smaller PSU, supports LINUX, smOS and SRR. Using non-mining specific mobos like MSI Gaming 5s, 7s for example; it will be an expensive board for mining unless you have plans to resell it to gamers. Also, it breaks my heart to see such high-end on-board audio and other gaming features sitting collecting dust on the Biostar Z170-GT7.

For smOS to work.... I highly suspect if functionality of an operating system like Linux or Windows, is dependent on a popular gaming motherboard architecture like the Intel Z170 chipset. I bet you that if mobo can run Windows - it will run LINUX and smOS have no issues running on that mobo. Maeby... people have complaint about smOS cannot run on Z170 motherboard with 5 or 6 or 7 GPUs -- but have no problems with smOS with 4 x GPUs or less.

Sorry for long sharing and reading. I know many experts here so welcome any feedback or correct me if I am wrong.

I have 7 x R9-Nano rig working with smOS and SRR perfectly, with this PCI splitter.
The Nanos are can mine ZEC up to 420-440 sols/s per card with Optiminer v1.7
The rig is powered by EVGA-G2-1600w PSU and current draw about 1150watts with 1000/500/-20% power-limit.
Previously the Nanos are with -100mV undervolted custom rom mainly for ETH mining but the Nanos are best for ZEC due to HBM and 64 compute cores so I flashed it back to stock rom and -20% PL to manage the amps and the 7xGPU config with lower but stable sols/s.
BTW, using this PCI splitter, only 7 GPU ok, 8 GPUs not OK or I dont know how to make it work.
I have asked around but 7 x GPU is easy with Linux.
Anything beyond that need some special hacks and special drivers; and goes into the realm of deep learning systems.
This 16 x GPU rig monster is an exciting project but probably not practical because it's too expensive.
Imagine the monster power supply to handle this rig, and keeping it stable.
The risks of having too big of a rig is huge power consumption and a big drop in hash when it's offline for any reasons.

Linux support is unknown Form his side.

I habe 2 Gigabyte fx990 ud5 rev. 3. Just can run 5 cards, Windows and linux. Want per board 7 or 9 cards. Besteht case would be every port witha Splitter. So theoretical 15  cards.

In Summery we have to time 6x R9 290x & 10 RX 470 (Brand mixed for study. To time running in 3 boards. Want to decrease the need oft boards.

Wouldnt the CPU run out of PCIE lanes with that 20 port PCIE monstrosity? I think as a miner reliability is important and staggering the systems helps mitigate risks. I run 5 / 6 cards per rig and never go above. I have one machine curently on SMOS and may move some others also. (In AU here). Getting those 6 pcie boards in australia is just impossible.

Since a view days 1 rack with rx 470 is making troubles.

Hangs in OpenCL Fall (always same GPU) after reboot it stuck offen in Boot cause a network-job is waiting. After 5:30 minute counter it boots up, but it cant Connecticut to the pool and is still offline in dashboard.

After fixingit with hardshutdown, wait 5 Minuten and changing lanport it boots AS usual.

But now there are New lines i never habe Seen. See picture below

I see you have a lot of cards which do you prefer thats the best bang for the buck I'm looking to retire my 270s they have been great cards and running since litecoin but its time to move on my 390 is running at 385 but I keep seeing everyone talk about the nano's just wanted your opinion on the best zec cards thanks I appreciate it

@FFI2013 - best ZEC card (believe it or not) are the NVIDIA 1080s, 1070s -- easily double the fastest AMD ZEC champion the R9 Fury X. The Nanos (the little brother of Fury X) are good for ZEC like Fury X but it's bloody expensive, I am thanking my lucky stars I didn't sell them last year. To be honest, I rather have a cost efficient RX470 farm and able to switch from ETH to ZEC to XMR - whatever of the 3 main coins which profitable to mine (see www.whattomine.com).

Also, go for newer RX cards because 390s are power hungry cards. "Low power, undervolted and stability at slightly lower hash speed" is best mining strategy vs very big kick-ass rigs that are expensive and need constant attention....

@cryptogastein - I dont think you can just put an array of splitters on a motherboard and "technically" get 15-16 GPUs to work. I have tried it and the rig won't even post. 8 x GPUs possible with Windows Enterprise and special drivers and custom roms (see Pandaminer B1)

but i wanted to ask you, how much do you charge for this service (i assume you take a % of the mining like claymore does?)

of course i don't expect it for free, (hosting / bandwidth doesn't pay for itself) but i just wanna know if you ask for much or you are reasonable   LOL
