With the drop in difficulty, could I mine this on my computer?

I would like to support Ethereum Classic but I've never downloaded or used Ethereum before. Bit of a noob. Undecided

Can someone point me to a tutorial on where/how to download and build an Ethereum Classic node? And then how to get started with mining? I'm on Windows 32 at work and Linux/Ubuntu at home.

Thanks in advance.

Okay, scratch that. I've managed to get Geth running and am syncing the blockchain. Does Ethminer work for Classic same as before?

Make use you use the flag --oppose-dao-fork or use the software here https://github.com/ethereumproject/go-ethereum which does not contain fork code. I don't know about Ethminer. I use claymore with -allcoins -1

Thanks. Yeah I got the build from ethereumproject/go-ethereum which contains oppose-dao-fork. I also came across Claymore, working on getting it installed and running now.

Also I've never held any eth, ethc, ethf nor dao.

So why the hassle?

Just let Ethereum and its braindead users consumers community cryptonoobs die.

May it be slow, painful, with a lot more hax & forx.

I just checked the Blockchain Height to be sure to mine on the right blockchain.
ethc.epool.io states :  Blockchain Height: 1,923,476
Ethereum Wallet states: 1,925,853

While the ETH-HF says 1,930,229

How comes the difference between ethc.epool and my wallet?

Only time will tell. I've read that Bitfinex and Kraken will both be issuing ETH token holders with ETHF and ETHC. That's a start. Kraken didn't give a hard yes or no to the notion of allowing trading of the minority chain's tokens. It sounded like they were leaving open the possibility.

For now, just Bitsquare. We just need Classic to survive in the short term -- that's the biggest hurdle. If it's not officially dead in some days or weeks, I believe there will be a resurgence of interest, and the possibility of being listed on exchanges is not unreasonable.

Wouldn't that require another exchange as a source for pricing and to actually execute trades?

Not sure where you're getting those high numbers. Wallet with "no fork" option is currently at ~1925000 and that matches epool and the explorer.

Network hashrate is 35 GH/s down from 50 GH/s yesterday.

seems like eth classic is dead for the sole reason of two chains existing (sell twice)
