I almost forgot my own personal welcome message.  Hello from Thailand.  I represent AwarenessForex which has developed the only free, non-lagging trend indicator for forex that measures price distance in real time.  I also have complete automated trading systems.  Too bad there isn't (yet) a tradable BTC/USD currency pair.  I heard about bitcoins through a privacy advocate and the more I researched, the more intrigued I became.  It's more or less like LibertyReserve, without the central authority.  It's just a matter of being able to buy/sell these things that might be a problem initially.

I live on a pittance so I'm hedging my bets. I'll wait until BFL starts rolling out the new ASIC's and take a look at the mining environment and make a decision then. My greatest concern is that between the halving of rewards for blocks, and large capital investments in ASIC's by individuals, mining will require large capital investment and be beyond the reach of hobbists like myself. On the other hand, I may get a return on my initial investment of 50% and end up with two decent gaming rigs. I know there are BLF products out there, but a cardinal rule of dealing on the internet has been not trusting dealings by wire order.

Why can't you trust any dealings by wire order?

Wire transfer's have a reputation for being the prefered payment option of internet conmen, although logically a good con would take your money any way they could get it. If I see a company that takes paypal, credit cards, and wire order, I think they are probably legit and have no real reservations. If I see a company that takes just wire orders I am really wary. Though, in trying to find an example, I came across this statement "As long as you avoid transfers via cash offices and stick to transfers performed bank-to-bank, wire transfer is a very safe way to move money around." so it's probably bias from my ignorance in regards to wire transfers

And up and coming bitcoin banker (yes i know an oxymoron dont worry I also mine). But what can i say i'm a wall street guy. Really liked the whole secretive and dark side of the bitcoin. Undetectable and untrackable virtual currency  Cool But for real what got me going was that the normal exchange sites seemed to contradict the very essence of the backhanded (in a good way) nature of bitcoins. So I created the first dark pool http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dark_liquidity of bitcoins . An exchange place that is totally annoymous, fast and uses private transactions with your very own virtualxchange banker (me LOL!!!).
The site is
http://virtualxchange.webs.com/
You can also message me on the forums
PS Whats the point of mining and using an unregulated and undetectable currency if when you go to exchange it, it becomes just another normal currency that can be logged . Keep the whole process under the radar like it was supposed to be.
Hoping to get pass noob status!!!  Grin

Hey everybody. Last summer I was really into bitcoins but then gave it up. Now I'm thinking of getting back into the bitcoin game. Not much money in it anymore but I enjoy the geeky and technical side of bitcoins more than money anyway.
I also have a website http://www.thingsthatintrigue.com/.

You might as well ask, what's the point of using untraceable cash if you're just going to put it in an easily traceable bank account? The answer is the same in both cases: bitcoins and cash are both more convenient than other ways of moving money around. No exorbitant fees, no daily withdrawal limits, no risk of chargebacks, no risk of identity theft, no waiting forever for transactions to clear, etc. The potential for anonymity is just a side benefit, which not everybody wants or needs to take advantage of. They can use bitcoins any way they want for any reasons they want, regardless of what other people think. That is the way it is supposed to be. Smiley
