Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

Hi Everyone, my nickname is Mookid and i'm new to this bitcoin world. I'm doing some mining right now.
With a ATI HD6850 i'm getting aprox 225 Mh/s.
I currently have 0.133 bitcoins in my wallet and my objective is to get enough bitcoins so i can trade them and buy a steam game.
I'm using the default OPENCL miner with GUIMINER, and i have the latest Catalyst 12.8 drivers, is there any tips that you can give to improve my mining numbers? so far i have been using the -v -w128 extraflag in GUIMINER to squeez all the workrate that my GPU can offer.

For anyone who doesn't understand why it would be a good idea to bring down the federal reserve

BTC will also further bring down the traditional music industry and give artists and musicians much more freedom and possibilities.

Hi Everyone! I'm Jovi and I'm here to introduce myself. I've started a small smoking accessory shop (Jovi's Emporium)and decided to take BitCoin payments! I figure that the more merchants that jump onto the BitCoin bandwagon, the better. Since I'm a new start-up business, I hope that we can take this into the 21st century and successfully grow together!  Smiley

LOL!!! I can only hope that you are right. I would really like to see bitcoin put the power of economy back into the hands of the people rather than the corporate superpowers, including the traditional music industry!!!

Glad you enjoyed it!!!

They might not actually even be aware of bitcoin, I think I might head over to their site and send an email or two, maybe they can even help promote bitcoin as an alternative to a centralized currency market...

Hi! My name's Josh, but on all the online games I play I go by Yoshu! So we'll stick with that. I've just recently gained an interest in the bitcoin, and the community that goes with it. The thought of a decentralized currency like this intrigues me greatly as I see alot of flaws in our (the US) monetary system. I'm pretty eager to start bitcoin mining myself and am working out a current business plan to upgrade into full scale mining rigs. The knowledge on this forum seems invaluable and I'll do my best to contribute to the system in any way that I can! If anyone has any tips or just wants to talk about bitcoins in general I'm more than happy to listen Smiley thank you for letting me be a part of this.

Hello everybody. John here. Pretty new to Bitcoin. I have read about bitcoin some time back, but did not really did much about it until recently. My initial thoughts were that it would die off. Surprisingly (and pleasantly), it is very very much alive.

I have great interest in computing. Hope to contribute to the bitcoin community.

Yo heard about bitcoin long time ago, maybe 1.5-2 years but let it go until just a few days ago (wished I had gone in with both feet back then har har). Anyhow, started out by downloading the 0.6.3 bitcoin-qt client on Friday evening. Earlier today more than 36 hours later, it was still downloading the block chain. I have an old computer, about 10 years old on Pentium IV 2,4 Ghz and it was absolutely crawling along. In the end I couldn't keep it up. I calculated that if after fully synched, I would have to spend nearly an hour every day synching that day's blocks. So I'm going with the blockchain.info wallet and it rocks. I really liked the idea of running a node at home and being a good bitcoin citizen but I just ain't got the hardware for it I'm afraid. Anyways, dropped by to say hihi to y'all.
