Hello bitcoin world... The sad fact is, I started mining not too long after Bitcoin was first spun up. Boy do I wish I had been mining all that time... Now, I'm just trying to get a few things squared away on a rig, wondering if the whole ASIC debate will make mining less of a good option than just flat out buying BTC.
Depending on the Mh/s of your older rig, it may be more profitable to just buy BTCs. But, why not mine your heart out until ASIC's have fully been integrated into the market and made everything impossible for the little guys..

I'm new here. Been using BTC for a few years now and am simply amazed at the technology around them and their success.
I've been lurking on this forum for a long time, but never posted, so here's to it.

Hello there. Brand new in the whole BTC world. "~8678 blocks remaining" says the app I just got from bitcoin.org :-)
2 questions:
1): why do we need to trade back to fiat currencies (yes I know the obvious answer, but I would love to see a push toward the other way around, fiat money -> bitcoin.
2) could bitcoin survive on Mars? I understand that the network is shared and all transactions proofs are distributed (mining) and saved, in a simple description. A mining rig on Mars would need to be connected back with the network on Earth 24/7 so not to break the chain and all. But could this little mining box slow down the whole system (because of the time it would take for the updates to go back and forth?)
Anyway I am here to learn :-)
"~7481 blocks remaining"...

I bought my first bitcoin a week ago because bytesized hosting offered a 20 percent discount this month if you payed in bitcoins. Needless to say, I'm now hooked. I only wished I bought some a couple months ago.

Hi, the ASIC boards have me excited and feeling iffy about things as well. it seems like you should maybe invest in both? I'm trying to buy BTC and getting a "new" Mac Pro on Ebay w a Graphics card upgrade as the Mac is totally stripped 160 gb HD lol and 2 gigs ram (i think im gonna get but my Mac Book Pro was the model just before the 64 bit so I'm like kinda bumming right now as i spent a day synching and can't run rpc miner, not that it would matter, but i want to get something going a bit haha. maybe gonna put in a pre order for an "aw sick board" n see. if anyone has mac mining software that will run on a 32 bit coreDuo let me know but i guess i will have to wait. and watch. ps windexh8er--that really kinda is beat you were in at the beginning then took a long, long, long break--better late then never i guess. Thanks to the programmers and knowledge-able people here and in the pools.

Hi, I'm pennywise. It's not a joke, because I've chosen that nickname from that Stephen King movie. Obviously I'm stuck in the newbie hell and have to write something, so I figured I could at least greet a member whose nickname is complement of mine

Greetings to everyone. As I am interested greatly in the success of the one and only Bitcoin, I hope to establish myself as a devout regular within the community. Best wishes to all of those here who would like to pursue this very same endeavor.

Hi guys. I'm new here, but not really new to BTC. In the past I daily traded for fun (and a bit of profit) and then when I got bored I had this idea to leave myself 100BTC and see what happens. I checked BTC price few times - every few months and I was happy to see I don't loose money, but few days ago I checked again... And... It's crazy!
Only problem is... Intersango kind of doesn't want to let go of my BTC...
