So we basically have to post in this forum before we are allowed to do so elsewhere?

I can understand to a degree,  but now I have to post a few meaningless messages before I can request assistance in the other ones.

Cheers anyways

Yea, exactly. For new users trying to ask questions and understand things it only serves to come off like the 'community' doesn't want to listen.

what are the odds of questions getting answered in here? Slim to none?

I can understand a restriction, but perhaps a third party authentication system (using a phone perhaps) would do the job? I've been around since the blockchain was only *this* high.  Smiley

An idea: implementing StackExchange OpenID authentication, and checking a user's rating on bitcoin.stackexchange.com - if it's > x, automatically promote user outside of this area.

Well, posting 5 times isn't really hard, but it'll certainly result in spammy garbage posts.

It seems like a fair and hardly exhaustive restriction.  Smiley

Mix some PGP crypto into this idea and it IS a portable reputation Smiley

Due to a mass of trolling, only established posters are able to post in non-newbie sections. You are considered "established" if you have spent 4 hours online and have made 5 posts.

If you have really good posts, you can post a request for preemptive whitelisting in the appropriate topic.

Also:
- You must have made one post in order to send PMs.
- You need 10 posts to put a link in your signature.

Note that it may take up to 10 minutes for your PM or posting permissions to be granted.

Very unfortunate, I know linking to an email account isn't a good idea for discussing bitcoins (maybe?) but 4 hours isn't so bad. Having to make 5 posts in the newbie forum though...alright then, lol!
