Probably just someone pissed off that most of the pools raised their minimum difficulty to 2 to keep the botnets out.  Not government, if they wanted to shut things down, there are much higher value targets than just mining pool servers.  And anyway, they could take out most of the pool servers via forcing Amazon to shut them down - if they really wanted to.

Pool seems to be up but nothing reflected in user interface - are shares being counted?

I'm working on all of the servers at the moment.  There's a lot of changes going on behind the scenes to hopefully make it more resilient to DDoS as well as provide better performance and reduced latency.  I apologize for this downtime, it's been quite a messy past few days.  There's some light at the end of the tunnel, but it will probably take a few hours more at least before things start returning to normal.

You haven't answered the question about whether shares are counted during GUI downtime.

Yes they are counted if they are being accepted.

Things are mostly back to normal now.  DDoS is peaking at over 12 Gbps and 3 million PPS, pretty insane.

Make sure you have backup pools setup for US1, US2, US3, EU, etc... and things should fail over properly now.  Still some work to do on the back end here, but it should be mostly stable.

Yeah, that is insane.

I had all three EMC servers plus two backup pools in my config, and at one moment (a couple of days ago) cgminer just stopped because there were no pools alive to work with. All of them were under a heavy DDoS.

I want to say dial 911 and report a serious crime in progress.  But sadly you'd get arrested for wasting police time.

Why is it that the authorities don't give a damn about DDoS....?

Yeah, happened to me, too.  Having no idea what was going on, I just put it down to my ISP being flaky.  I mean, what are the chances of three major pools being down at the same time - must be close to zero, right?

This is why you set up p2pool as backup - at least a public node.

EMC down again?

ETA: Oh, just us1 and us2 down.  Am I really supposed to add all the servers to my config?  I figured it would be counterproductive (and antisocial) to do that as I'd be tying up excessive EMC resources for no benefit.   But maybe it really is the right way to configure?

All servers are up to date, there shouldn't be any lagging shares at this point.

We are having issues with US1 and US2 at the moment.  They are running slow and/or will go offline as I work on them.

Use US3 or EU for the moment... I will have US1 and US2 back up and working properly ASAP.

Work continues on US1 and US2.  US2 seems to be in better shape than US1, which is under attack constantly, US2 is sporadic.

I'm spinning up a new server, it's going to take a few more hours yet to bring US1 and/or US2 back to full capacity.

I just brought the new US1 online and switched the DNS.  Your clients should be switching over at some point.  I will continue to monitor US1 through tomorrow to see if the problem is resolved, if so I'll get US2 taken care of in a similar manner.  So far, all tests look great for the new US1.
