Hi friends!

For those who has 290s. Im getting 360 h/s. But the card runs at 80 degree celsius. 76% fan speed. Is it normal for that card? I have several 280x. And they run at less then 70°.

 R9 290 was traditionally a very hot running card, much more so than the 280x.

 BIOS from TheStilt helps a lot for mining usage, though you then tend to want to overclock and end up driving the temp back up again....

280X CARDS PERFORM BETTER--

R9 280X cards get 315-320Sols/s, and RX 470 cards get 295-300Sols/s.  R9 280X cards run hotter and use more energy.   None of my cards, R9 280X or RX 470, are BIOS modded.      --scryptr

Haven't played with timings too much, but am using the 1500 strap with nerdralph's tweaks. Running 1150/1750 @ 920mv/900mv, with gpuz reporting an average draw of 74W. Idle draw is around 22W with 900mv vddci (multi-monitor). Gets around 267H/s. Since the machine's running 24/7 anyway, I figure effective mining consumption to be around 52W + vrm/psu losses.

It can do 300H/s at 1250/1750, and around 310H/s at 1350/1750 (memory bottleneck..). Of course, I haven't really tweaked the timings much, so there may be more to be had (stock bios gets around 265H/s at 1250/1750).

You can flash the asus rx570 bios no problem as well. Idle consumption only improves if both monitors are the same resolution

Edit: Looks like I can do 1150@900mv with the rx570 bios (would be stable before but 2nd display would lose sync). GPU-Z reported draw down to 70W now.

RX 400 SERIES ARE SELLING OUT--

If you can buy a new RX 400 series card, you are lucky.  I do not have any RX 500 series cards, but they currently sell for less than a same-level RX 400 card.

On the other hand, R9 280X cards can be bought used for much less (1/2 price?).  They have a wider bandwidth, and perform well.

I am sure that RX 500 series cards will be optimized before the Vega cards reach the market.  Expect a price drop then.

I have a rig's worth of R9 280X cards on the shelf.  I'll likely use them again before selling them.       --scryptr

But the new nVidia cards are expensive.  GTX 960, 970, and 980ti cards mine well, also.  The AMD cards are popular because they cost less at the start.       --scryptr

Having issues too. I have the following:

MSI Z170A
RX580 x 5 cards - was suppose to be 7, but can only do 5 with the AMD drivers (17.4.4)
Kaby Lake processor
two PSU 1200 & 1300 EVGA and HP 94% platinum
Windows 10
claymore 12.4 - basic settings as outlined by claymore.

I have 3 machines that are all having similar problems. After a few hours they freeze up my computer. It is always the same GPU in each machine - GPU 1. It's also the same GPU that gets error 43's. I then disable it in device manager, then re-enable it and it's working correctly again. I have a feeling its the new AMD driver. I can tell it's just not very stable and it hates 5 cards. Does 4 cards okay and won't do 6 cards at all.

Anyone have any good advice? Or same conclusion I came to? I also tried -old 1 and pretty much all the intensity levels.

Reposting mine - hoping for some help/advice. Anything at this point, the only conclusion I can come to is the AMD 17.4.4 driver sucks. It's always GPU 1 in all 3 rigs. Exact same setup, and that's the one that hangs in open cl every time.

any idea on the best pool to mine zec that is very profitable?

currently i use minergate pool, but it seems i only get penny after a block is found within 3-4 days of mining despite zec calculator says my little hashrate of 165h/s give $1 a day but on minergate i get only penny in 3-4 days.
