Your refund will be sent to this address. Please note that you will not receive funds instantly. We will send a batch transaction for all validated claims at the end of the claiming period on Monday, July 1st, 2013.

And this is why I want a police report number of which you have so conveniently ignored requests of such.

Currently, 2 wallets URL revert back to a static home page with only one wallet showing forms. Upon completing the forms, the page just acts like it's loading for several minutes, not generating another page. I have no idea if this is normal for I'm not that tech-savvy in this area.

Maybe the servers are just overloaded now. I don't want to revert to jumping through the hoops as others described, i.e. copy/paste URL/keys. I desire to do it via a single page like I've already seen, but isn't working at the moment.

One more time: Police Report Number.

It would be foolish in the extreme to wait 90 days to see if these guys cough up any Bitcoin at all, much less the amount stolen, before verifying (or provoking) a legal investigations of this crime.

I've not yet gotten any actionable leads via my solicitation for legal services on the marketplace of this forum so I guess the Bitcoin economy and ecosystem as some room to grow.  I'll be tied up until the middle of next week, but intend to continue activity along these lines when I am free.

I would appreciate it if anyone who may have collected information which might be of use to investigators would keep ahold of it.

One more thing:  If any of the principles of 'Paymium' had any integrity, they would be in full support of the actions of those of us who wish to see this crime investigated.  That they have shown no such sign of any interest along these lines, and have been evasive is, to me, a pretty strong indication that they have no intent on doing anything more for their 'customers' than is required to minimize the impact upon themselves.  And very possibly to maximize profits resulting from this crime.

Thanks,

 - Tom

i think i am going to claim the instawallets for my friends and relatives. i even think i can provide the signed messages for most of them.

does anyone think this will be a problem if i claim multiple wallets to my name?

No problem: your friends and relatives trust you ;o)

The problem is on our end if and when we receive multiple claims for the same wallet: we would have to sort things out.
So far so good we are receiving only unique claims.

Hi Boussac,

I'm pleased everything is going to plan and that people have calmed down a little Cheesy

I'm curious what will happen after the 90 days and the claims have been processed, will Instawallet be relaunched with a bit more security added?

Also what will happen to the undoubtedly many BTC that won't be claimed, can I suggest that as a gesture of goodwill it goes to the Bitcoin Foundation or maybe to charities and the Bitcoin community gets to vote on which charities?

Haha forget that. Split it up amongst all the many users that were inconvenienced, like a small tip. Smiley

some of my wallets just say :

The page you were looking for doesn't exist.

You may have mistyped the address or the page may have moved.

Can anyone shed some light on this ?

The way i have been doing it is this

go to instawallet.org

use the cursor keys on the browser and press to the right once

this will make it look like .org/

then i type it all in there

it has worked for all mine so far. Smiley

Thanks for your input,

glad to hear yours work just fine Wink

but for my 8 wallets :

- 5 of my crypto code still state that message
- 3 of them still display a zero balance
- 1 displays a positive, minus one transaction balance

And to top it all, i can not access the site anymore.

 Undecided

I'll claim the wallet as soon as i can access it again,
i'd guess they're ubber busy with this, plus the ddos attack...
Still, what's the best way to contact them ? here or through @bitcoin-central ?

thanks for all inputs,
word of mouth

Still have the same problem.

@ Boussac,

Seconded. This matter still stands as a serious issue. We are all happy that the claims process has begun. But there is a trust issue with Paymium based on their refusal to provide proof that a police report has been filed.

Boussac, please supply it. You are trashing Paymium's reputation as an ethical company by not doing so.

I Made 3 claims last night and have only received two confirmations by email Huh

 Boussac

Please can you confirm that you have 3 claims with my bitcoin user name and  email.
I do have the 3 reference numbers, But I just want to make sure as i have had only 2 emails.
all so the balances of each claim form was 0.00 on all of them ?! i get the impression from others on here that the balances should be the amount of bitcoin that is missing??

I understand your busy and stressed and understand the logic of waiting 90 days.
But can you just confirm that my claims are genuine & safe

cheers

As long as you have the claim ref number and wallet key you are safe. I suppose you have checked your spam folder, obviously.

Thanks again, Boussac, for once again dancing around the police report issue. One question: Was it a Tango or a Waltz, for I was highly distracted with your dick up my ass during the dip.

Thanks again, Boussac, for once again dancing around the police report issue...

It should be abundantly clear that no reference to any investigation is forthcoming from Paytunia.  Occam's razor strongly suggests that this is because there is none.  That would make sense if Paytunia has staged this 'theft'.

Since it is unlikely that there is an investigation, and Boussac clearly stated that one does exist, it follows that he is a bald-faced liar.

We have discovered that 'Boussac' is a fake identity that this individual has created.  Also that 'Paytunia' is a tangle of relationships none of which seem to lead to anything more than some private apartment addresses.

My sense is that it would be a minor miracle if anyone gets anything back at the end of the 90 day period.  90 days would, however, be a reasonable amount of time for a fraction of the victims to forget about things, lose data, and for various trails to go cold.

Some people have suggested to me that a PI is an appropriate person to hire, and that certain monitoring regimes on individuals and businesses are possible.  I was never sure if such a thing as Private Investigator even existed outside of TV shows.  I really have no interest in taking things this far and I'm not interested in footing the bill or entangling myself with such things.  I am, after all, not out more than the modest amount that I budgeted to potentially lose in this theft.

I am, however, quite interested in making sure that a coherent set of documentation is formally presented to the French legal system such that they can choose whether to pursue this crime, and if they do, that they have material to work with.

I have yet to find an appropriate person with a good grasp of the French legal system to retain in an advisory role so I again would request that anyone who has such leads please ping me.

Thanks,

 - Tom

Boussac, Davout - should all be labeled scammers at this point. Then the tag could be removed, if there's comunity consensus later on that they're in fact not.

Boussac has already demonstrated his inability to deal with customers in a professional manner, he's also caught lying, and he will not share any details about what's going on with the community.

But hey, he's a frenchman, and when you're not - you must be an idiot by default.

While we wait for a police report number, here is a fun French story.  All true.

Deep in the wilds of Alaska, the (filthy socialist) state has build  beautiful cabins on various of the lakes which dot the terrain.  Many of them are hundreds of kilometers from the closed human being.  They supply these cabins with firewood, a rowboat to go catch fish, and various other accouterments.  One thing that is lacking is any form of communication as such a thing would be technically unfeasible in the 70's and but for satellite phone, still is to today.  The amazing thing is that the cost to rent such a place is trivial.  In the range of $10/day.  The catch is that an interested party needs to get their ass out there, and that requires paying an air taxi service who flys floats.  We continue...

One summer as a pre-pubescent whelp I was hanging out with my dad on Kodiak Island where he had a small air taxi service.  I entered the office on one fine day to find two French couples who were probably in their 50's noisily communicating among themselves in their mother tongue.  Eventually my father interjected something in French.  The conversation came to a dead-stop.  Eight wide eyes staring at him and four mouths agape displaying a distinctly alarmed expression.

Later I asked him what he said (being myself ignorant of the language and being unaware that my dad was even fluent in it.)  All he had said "closer to $400."  The reaction was a function of the four French-persons having been in a decisions about whether the proprietor was trying to rip them off, and it would have been fairly rude had said proprietor been a Francophone.  None of the four had considered the possibly.

So, the four decided to commission the transportation, but had neglected to acquire batteries for their camera.  I knew that if I ran, I could get the batteries that they needed before a certain store closed and offered to do so.  I accomplished the mission and proudly returned with the prize, but to my shock I didn't even receive a thank you (in any language) much less a tip.

My father delivered the guests to their destination, and some days later when he was to pick them up he says  "Well, I guess I better go pull those frogs out of the lake."  Then he looked up in the sky and judged that "it looks like it'll be pretty socked-in up there.  Maybe better wait until tomorrow."  Then he went about his business flying cash out to cash buyers, flying injured/fired fishermen off of their fishing vessels, and so on.

For each of the next few days the routine went on pretty much as the day prior.  There were mirthful discussions about how long a group of people could survive by deriving nourishment from one another's bodily secretions.  There were theories about whether especially powerful body odor indicated particularly high caloric quality bodily secretions.  And that sort of thing.  All good fun.

Eventually my dear dad jumped in the plane and went to retrieve our fearless comrades.  He said that when he buzzed the cabin the 'frogs' piled out the door of the place and actually ran into the lake waving their hands wildly.  He said it was the funniest thing he'd ever seen.

---

My father learned to speak French conversationally when he'd been stationed in France while serving in the Air Force.  He apparently had a lot of 'luck' over there.  Seems that French men tend to be a bit on the effeminate side, and French women tend to appreciate a more 'rough and ready' approach to male/female relationships sometimes.  Enough to where there were actual physical confrontations among them for mating rights.  Also they appreciate it when a man does not pay undue attention to the anus at the expense of other more distinctly female body parts.  Who knew?

It is thought with a high degree of probability that I have one Francophone half-sister.  Probably another half sibling of unknown gender, and very possibly some others besides.  I occasionally wonder if they turned out like their American siblings.  That is, strongly progressive and highly capable persons who have, net/net, given much to benefit the less fortunate of society while not carping about it all day long.

Dear Bruno,

Instawallet has always worked like a shared wallet, nothing has ever changed in this respect.

The fact you used to see coins remain at the deposit address simply means that :
 - there used to be less coin turnover,
 - the cold storage was less used,
 - any combination of the previous reasons.

Some stuff does change though, you used to get your transaction ID back immediately when sending coins, that's not the case anymore, sends are now asynchronously handled by a background worker. That's much more secure in terms of potential race conditions, much more robust in terms of infrastructure, much more maintenable (since now I can simply stop the worker, do some work on bitcoind and switch it back on).

The traffic also increases a lot, to give you an idea, our average weekly turnover is around 10kBTC in, and 10kBTC out, it recently peaked at around 50kBTC/week.

Your wallet has exactly the amount you expect to be available, you can't rely on blockchain.info to tell you how much is available in an account on a shared wallet.

This is how your balance is calculated :

Hope it's clearer Smiley

Another request of Team InstaWallet to put us at ease: May we have the police report number please?

Thank you for your response.

I had 7 wallets at instawallet.org. For the moment, only 3 have been claimed succesfully.

The ones which are not working have been created on January, February, March and the latest one on the 1st of April.

Seems like the claim process isn't functionning perfectly by itself  Undecided

I'd like to see my 7 wallets taken into account...

Let me refresh your memory as to what we have been requesting.

Is the July 1st the earliest possible date to get our funds back or is it the date for last claimer to get his/her funds back?

In other words, if I made the claim in first 24 hours of the process starting, when will my coins be refunded?

English is not my first language, so the questons may be little strangly formed.

Your request has been heard.
It seems perfectly legitimate specially for the wallets that were unfunded until after April 1st.
The "page not found" allows you now to file a claim for a "missing wallet".

Here is what it reads:
"Your wallet maybe missing because it received funds only after April 1st when instawallet was suspended.
If that is the case, please use the comment field to tell us the transaction that you would to be taken into account for a refund.
Please do not report a missing wallet if it did not receive any transaction."

Just like people could abuse the service by storing large amounts of coins on instwallet (a service that was clearly not designed to that end), some people may file bogus claims.
I hope there will not be too many of them as this would result in longer processing time for legitimate requests.
