Jesus. BTC just took a tumble Either someone had fat fingers and entered the wrong number, bots got confused, or a bunch of coins were stolen and dumped. Today's going to be a rough day... Well BTC-E had a big BTC sell for $102 each, which is probably a bigger reason than Mt.Gox being bad. Seriously who are these people who are selling at that price ? Either a broken bot or a fat-finger-dude-guy-person

I'm telling you open Chrome or something that makes the GPU stepping increase? Also run maxcoind with two less cores in affinity. Yields extra hash for unknown reason?
Just put in maxcoin.conf option: gen=0 This will disable CPU mining, and keep low CPU usage on it.

Well, still crashing or getting low hashrate mining vertcoin... UTC crashes after a while as well, might have to lower the oc. I'm open to suggestions settings wise.

Well, still crashing or getting low hashrate mining vertcoin... UTC crashes after a while as well, might have to lower the oc. I'm open to suggestions settings wise. Not sure if optimal, but at least stable for my GTX 680: cudaminer.exe --algo=scrypt:2048 -H 1 -C 1 -d 0 -i 0 -m 1 -l K8x32 And UTC: cudaminer.exe --algo=scrypt-jane:UTC -i 0 -H 2 -l K8x32 E. My two cents for the coin speculation: If the hashrates for vert could be increased, we would definetly gain an edge against all the AMD miners. Nvidia is supposed to give more than half the hashrate for vert, but I'm getting pretty much exactly 50% right now. Haven't played around with the settings properly yet, maybe that's the theme of this evening Also Vert looks like a long-term project instead of just pump and dump coin, I think it has some real potential in it once the scrypt ASICs start to appear properly.

If you are going to leave your BTC on an exchange please send it to this address instead 1GH3ub3UUHbU5qDJW5u3E9jZ96ZEmzaXtG, I will at least use the money better than someone who steals it from the exchange. Thanks

What is your GPU temp? Could you check with GPU-Z? Maybe it's also a power issue. Does just cudaminer crash, or is the whole system crashing? And is it running for a certain time and then crashing, or just when you start it?

@cbuchner1 There's a several BTC bounty for a cuda prime number miner (which should outperform a core-i7 by 2x): https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=257579.0 I think primecoin would be a target for that (I believe the only one at the moment).

Hey guys; have a GTX 780 and have this in bat file "cudaminer.exe -o stratum+tcp://ltc-eu.give-me-coins.com:3333 -O user:pwd" Have a few questions: 1-Does autotune give the highest number hash? 2-Does cudaminer autotune everytime i launch it? 3-if autotune does not give the highest number, any suggestions on how to increase them without overclocking the card? Thanks 1: Yes Its supposed to when autotune is working. In the latest version it is most definitely working. However, depending on what your card is doing during an autotune can effect autotune so run it 5-10 times and see which config gives you the best preformace and play around it the -C argument (0, 1,2) 2: Not if you give it a specific config you want it to launch with. 3: Autotune multiple time and find the fastest config then plug in and play with the -H -C arguments and you can normally squeeze out some more extra bits of hash. Plus try adding one or two to the numbers in your -l T config. Thanks for the info will definitely try that. Here's another question: I have a gtx 460 lying around is it possible to stick that into my current pc and have it mine while not interfering with the 780 which i use for gaming and mining? If so is that possible with a radeon card? How do you differentiate between them via cudaminer? How can you make each bat file only operate one specific graphics card? Yes, you can build the GTX 460 in. It won't do very much though, compared to your 780. Specifying the card works via the -d parameter (-d 0 for primary card, -d 1 for secondary card)... see readme.txt The Radeon might be more difficult, I think nVidia's and AMD's drivers don't like each other very much.

Is it really panic selling when you sell that low ? Panic selling would be to sell at 300$. I wonder if someone wasn't trying to disrupt the market (how much would you need to buy at say well below market value to cover a loss (and eventually make profit) at 102$ ? Might just be profitable somehow, if you are dealing with large volume... (didn't try to make the calculation) or may-be some dude who made huge profit over the maxcoin...

Panic selling is selling as high as you think you can sell something for in very large volumes to get out of a certain type of currency, not in an of itself a bad thing, it's when all the other see this and flip their to follow suit. Mt. Gox tend to go insane recently, Bitstamp and BTC-e tend to have saner head prevailing. Exchanges will always follow another market if it trends heavily. In the case of Mt.Gox vs BTC-e for every 100 Mt. Gox drops BTC-e follows with a 15 drop. MT.Gox is VERY volitile now that China is allowing BTC trading and no longer outlawing bots. It's kinda fun to watch the http://bitcoinwisdom.com/markets/mtgox/btcusd graph when it's set to 1m intervals. you can see the bots throwing the price around like crazy. Saw one the other day that kept posting 40 BTC just below the lowest current sell order and as soon as something posted lower it would pull the sell and redo it under the new order. It did this for like 2 hours driving the price of the BTC from 710 to 600 on the exchange and i watched it recover over the next 2 hours back up to nearly 700 again. Buy low sell high has a whole new meaning when you can drive a market down by sheer force of disposable volume...

I suggested these prime number topics to Dave Andersen. It's the kind of work that takes an academic, not a an engineer of communications ;-) ... Besides it seems like it might be significant effort because some big number operations have to take place. Christian

Memory on Scrypt and Scrypt-Jane is not a bottleneck. It is not worth it to throw extra Mhz at it as a result. Try down-clocking as far are you are comfortable. This will draw less power to the memory leaving more to send to the Core or just reduce power draw overall and increase the stability of the power to the Core. I generally run my Memory @ -502.

A GTX 460 will get between 40-50 khs, I don't find it worthwhile to use this card for Scrypt. Scrypt-Jane is another matter but it's not a terribly good performer even there due to low memory and not a lot of relative extra cores to take advantage of Lookup_Gap. AMD will definitively need to be run in a different box.

From experience, if it crashes after several hours, the OC is too high. Also, different algorithms need different OC profiles because they are not stressing the card the same way. Some examples (not exact values): Max core OC running 3D benchmark (rough estimate with older BIOS): ~60 Mhz before crashing; Max core OC running scrypt mining: ~80 Mhz; Max core OC running scrypt-jane:14: ~120 Mhz; Max core OC running keccak: ~132 Mhz.
