Avalon batch [2] countdown!

Since, TMSC has the specs they can easily produce many chip in a single day, could be avalon is getting all the qty and batch them together for 1 single production or they are waiting for their turn.

I still don't think that avalon batch 2/3 will have a negative roi, and i'm most worried about the production capacity of avalon itself, not of bfl.

they have plenty of capacity. They are in china. They just don't have the motivation to do it since they have the machines and your money/btc already.

I personally think that they didn't/don't have any bad intentions. They just wanted to produce batch 2 on their own production line - and guess what, that of course is a complex operation which causes the one or other delay.
I would however appreciate being informed brutally honest about the status and given a choice to outsource some production steps - I wouldn't mind an extra payment for that. Time if really of the essence here and I don't see that factor honoured like it should be.

Would be nice to have more updates, but it's very unlikely that's going to happen.

It's the second week of May today though, so really there should be an update on the way or (hopefully) a trickle of tracking numbers.

One thing's for sure, if this is so that they can ship them themselves with tracking numbers instead of sending out ghost shipments with no guarantees, I think it should be considered a step in the right direction.

It's hard to troll something you know is legitimate. I'll try anyway though:

"Hey Yifu, what happened, another spontaneous Chinese new year?". There. I said it.

Edit: despite not being able to "troll", it doesn't mean we can't remain critical. When someone says they'll ship in May and then don't, you should be able to legally demand a refund (despite any online agreement, as state legislation supersedes all) in most cases as long as they're late up to a certain point. I'm fine with hanging out another 2 weeks and seeing what happens though.

I don't think any hate-on's for Avalon are warranted. They are a bit late. No big deal. They are providing a rare and professional product anyways, that is on spec. There isn't any evidence they are partying it up with lovely Chinese prostitutes or running away to Spain or anything.

I think every Avalon pre-order person should cut them a bit of slack. At least refrain from getting too upset until they are at least * 1 / 10th * as late as BFL. After they are over one tenth as late as BFL then you can have a bit of license to complain.

I'm as anxious as you guys (I'm in batch 3) but can wait a bit longer...

BFL is about a year late? let's say 10 months, at least.

Batch 2 was supposed to ship April 15th.  It's not even May 15th yet.

Batch 2 was supposed to ship from the 5th of march to the 5th of april. Then the 5th of april was moved to the 15th of april. Then they came out with their "new smt line" stuff and said that they would be online and ship "really fast" starting from the 15th of april, until the end of the month. The 15th of april they said to have started shipping, now they claim to have shipped 20 units (certainly not to the trade ins as they have yet to pay) and that since that some people of their team is sick, they are late, and that they received the smt line but that it could take until the second week of may (now) to put it online. No timeline was given about how fast they will ship after that their new smt line is working.

No update was given, and that's is a 2 months delay.

Also, after that they sold out batch 2, they claimed that the trade ins customers, that did not paid at the time, 1) where not part of the 600 units limit (they probably have 1000s of trade in units) 2) they would ship before the regular customers, cause "we are not special".

Batch 2 customers paid at the firsts of February because they needed to buy resistors & capacitors "to be able to ship on time". I'm quite sure that they have the resistors and capacitors, and that they could have shipped on time too, if they wanted.

The only problem I have is the shipping dates. I would like a good explanation for the (minor) delays, When I ordered it stated April 5th shipping, then 15th April... It is 7th May and we have no update. I mean, they seemed pretty damn sure they would meet those dates.

If I would have known this it definitely would have affected my decision to hand over what is a lot of money for me at the time.

Apart from that, I still can't wait for that 'special' delivery!

As a Batch 3 92xx Order I am at the end of the avalon line - I just hope the machine arrives before the chips get delivered.
