ZEC seems stagnant at the moment, so if you can afford to lose your investment, I say go for it.

...but if you think about it, you have a 50/50 chance, just like every coin that's still popular. Just don't let emotions control your trading...let it sit for a while before choosing to mess around with it. Good luck Smiley

According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

I have a few friends alllll lose in this project, they are NOT happy.

They will DUMP when and if price goes back up LOL.  I think many will be in same boat!  No way it can see huge rise (unless mega whales want all coins which are useless) with SO many bagholders especially with massive price spread!!!

ZCash can go up because a lot of people, who were mining Etherium, now mines Zcash because it is much more profitable. I dont think that it will have a huge rise, but still you should receive a little profit from this one Grin

Since Zcash launch, prices have been around the $1000+ mark, however after a few days the price has gone down, and I think that it will continue to do so for the following days until it reaches the total supply of 21 million coins.

In my own opinion, Zcash has been overvalued, (considering that there have been privacy oriented altcoins before like Monero) and the fact that Zcash does not enforce anonymity by default (unlike Monero), it makes me wonder whenever Zcash would be a good investment or not.

If there is one thing that I don't like about Zcash, is the fact that it is behind a company, as well as having a sort of premine called Founder's reward, which seems kind of fishy to me.

Please let me know what do you think about this.  Smiley

Everything mentioned above clearly takes to result as Zcash is not suitable for investment. There are many reasons for that few are as follows :

Higher price entry in market
Major premined coins

As Zcash introduced to exchanger it has very high price against Bitcoin but in few days it goes down tremendously. It means who have already bought or mined Zcash have dump there coins to market which results to decreased price of Zcash.

Well that is fishy actually, sorry for the term. But its true, zcash for me is like a zencloud way back 2014 I think that will be close in the long run, I cannot forget that experience because by that time I was a newbie very unconscious about in this things so all of my investment was melted and totally gone. Maybe I said it because of traumatic experience, I compared it zcash in the other's, but who knows that my thoughts was wrong, I guess I'm wrong with my thinking.

I think ZCash could be worth WAY more that it is now. Just look at all the poor people who bought in higher. Yes they will probably dump it when zcash breaks even and at the same the volatility increases.

Maybe you are right.
I still feel so sorry for the people who bought ZCash for a price 10x (or even more) higher than it's now, so it's only logical there will be a very high preassure to pump the price.
But on the other hand, it's nothing easy to pump 50 dollar coin back to 1000 usd.. it's more than 20x increase and remember, we are not moving in levels of few satoshi..

I'm not crazy but i'm expect "another one" easily we can see 2x or 3x i cannot ask more.  It will happen when you relax and forget what happened.. Many of us will join pump again , we all love this game, win some lose some. I'm watching it every day. This is not my favorit anon coin but who cares. Profit is what is important.

Miners are interested mainly in dumping ZCash actually than in keeping. That dumps the value, but behind all the pumps on ZEC, I'm guessing there is some much bigger group, maybe a group of AMD administration or something. So if they pump, that could overcome all those little dumps actually.

Their biggest drawback is the founder's rewards, and the anonymity, this coin is over hype, zcoin is a much better version I prefer the later than the former..

Soon this coin will lose hype and we will see it's real value.

The founders reward spread apart the total number of developers is really not bad compared to the major premine hoarding that other larger coins have had. The developer bonus phase is also for a limited time anyway. Given the total circulation and scarcity of the coin, it really is not that bad. It's not a bad thing for devs to have a decant supply of the coin themselves because it gives them motive to keep their project running and in value. Worst part if a group of people can all dump at the same time if it offers a profit but that can be said with so many other coins right now anyway

I am however curious about what the alternatives offer besides no dev fee. All in all I don't think ZEC is unique enough to actually overtake everything else but I'm curious because its not a bad coin on its own and unlike the others it isn't all owned by a few whales who got in early. It's been mined by everyone and the only unknown is who is buying it as many keep dumping.

Agree. If ZCash didn't have the founder's reward, then I think that the price would've gone higher and would remain in its original levels. Those who invested early into ZCash had huge losses in profit due to the massive price increase. That is why I always wait for a few months after a new coin is released, as the first days of launch, the coin would be full of hype making it reach high price levels that are just speculation.

Now, I think that the prices being reflected on the markets for ZEC has stabilized and may be a good time to invest some BTC into it. It has managed to stay around the $45 - $50 mark, making the perfect opportunity to invest in it.

Nevertheless, the day when ZCash becomes accepted at major merchants worldwide, and its anonymous technology becomes usable around the darknet markets, would be the day when ZCash would really spike in price. Just my thoughts.  Grin

You are correct by saying that Zcash has been overvalued and it is true also that the negative about in Zcash is back up by the company. This is same what happened in bitfinex before which is also behind a company. And most often they used this to hype people/investors. Though we know that Bitcoin became popular  without any back up of the company.

Hi, any idea where the best place to mine and earn some zcash

From my experience, the best Zcash miner is currently EWBF's CUDA Zcash miner (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1707546).
It delivers the highest sol/s numbers from all miners (even with a 2% dev fee) and it is often updated.
You can connect to a mining pool of your choice, personaly I use Flypool.

I don't see Zcash sticking around for long. I see a lot of negativity in it . First It is not open sourced and then There's founders rewards to deal. People are not too comfortable with all these. Currently The price is controlled heavily by whales. Majority of the fanbase of Zcash are miners.

I remembered when the time of campaigning zcash the price was too expensive, I just can't even imagine its not practical for ordinary investor to go on through for that kind of value. And zcash is more on hyping people for them to get interest of the investors. Then it happens that their developer can't find it, that is sounds questionable to me. So its not really good for me to invest in, not worth it.

Ztrash seems to just be a pump and dump from what ive observed.

It seems so. ZCash was worth nearly $45 a few days ago, but today it has declined to $43. I have the feeling that it may continue to decrease in price until the first 4 years of mining for the founder’s reward have passed.

Even though I'm not planning to invest in ZCash yet, it would be great to have some free coins while I make my move. If there would be a ZEC faucet around that would help me earn some free coins, then it would be great. I have seen one called Zeropond, but it is in testnet mode.  Undecided

Zcash is interesting as an academic exercise. Some people with advanced degrees are trying to see if they can make it work..

But it can never succeed IMHO because we can never know whether the keys were destroyed and that new zcash coins are being minted.

Zcoin is far better because if those "keys" were not destroyed the extra coins will be visible

ZCash is probably hitting the lowest value since it's birth right now, today. Right now, I'm buying a lot of it as I'm predicting a good panic-buying for by tomorrow. The value, in my opinion, should get back up to almost 0.05 BTC till tomorrow.
