Yes , but --pec is very good to compare cards.

Maybe someone can paste --pec @gtx1080ti ?

True!, it is!.

interesting that the results of the 1080Ti is better at 135W, similar to the 1080 which is at 110W, not at the lowest setting but a little higher than minimum.

thanks cryptohminer for the data.

I found the --pec numbers to be really close to my Kill-a-watt meter.

MY EVGA GTX 1060 in my gaming system seems to work pretty well for ZEC Smiley

Hello all,

I've been working on optimizing the miner for windows and linux.

Here's my most optimal current setup:

miner v0.3.3b
GTX 1070
Windows 7
90% TDP
+200 Core Clock
+700 Memory Clock
450 Sol/s

I'd prefer to mine in linux, and my initial setup attempt with ubuntu 16.10 - I've not been able to get overclocking to work right so it seems it is at stock - but at 100% TDP, it seems I'm only getting 420sol/s.

Has anyone been able to get better numbers with linux at all or should I stick with Windows 7? I've had a very frustrating time working with trying to get the overclock to work, doesn't seem to be functional via the GUI.

You have to play around with the xorg.conf file and trick Linux into thinking their are monitors attached to each card. Not sure if dummy plugs will work, but I have overclocking working. Highest I've hit with my Gigabyte Gaminig 1 rig is 430-460 with just playing with mem. Cards crap out at anything over +50 clock speed.

Here's a guide I used to get iverclocking working in Linux. Hope it helps:

https://forum.ethereum.org/discussion/7780/gtx1070-linux-installation-and-mining-clue-goodbye-amd-welcome-nvidia-for-miners/p1

thesmokingman, that guide worked very well actually, I was able to use a number of things there to boot strap my configuration - Thank you for the heads up on where to find this info, exactly what I needed to make a lot of progress.

Currently, I've got:
Fedora 24
cuda_8.0.61_375.26
NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-375.39

Running at 135W
/w Clock + 200 @ 1950Mhz
/w Mem + 1500 @ 4551Mhz
435 Sol/s

Much better performance than I had earlier, but compared with my windows config still under-performing by ~4%
On windows @ 135W
/w Clock + 200 @ 1850Mhz
/w Mem + 700 @ 4498Mhz

455 Sol/s

I can't account for all the differing values of mem clock offsets, nor am I sure which measurements I should trust of the absolute clocks. No idea why in windows I apply +700, but linux takes +1500 to raise it an equiv actual 700Mhz. Very odd stuff.

Either way it seems if taken at face value - I'm running slower on windows(1850 v 1950, and 4500 v 4550) and getting 4% more solutions/sec.

EWBF - is there some optimization that you might be able to recommend for linux? What optimizations should I look at further to close the gap all the way - and my hope was to get better performance in linux.

P.S. Very happy I got this working in Fedora 24 - I got 25 working, but it is... messy due to having to hack away at the nvidia installers.

What are the four different solvers?   So far I'm not seeing any difference in performance.

EDIT solver 3 seems pretty bad, 0,1,2 seems fine

I' am facing strange thing with my rig. I can't start 4 x Gtx 1060 cards. Only 3 of them working on the same time. If I launching any random 3 of them it just fine. At 4x driver crashes and you have to restart OS.
W7
latest nvidia drivers
0.3.3b miner version.

Any ideas? I have only 4G RAM, maybe here the issue?

What mobo are you using?

I have kind of same problem with a MSI z170. I cannot use a 5th card on it. I know it is a recuring problem
with this board but I didnt have time to "mine" the solution yet.

I am using Asus Trooper B85. I added more 4G Ram, same shit. But kinda strange if I am putting one of the cards directly to mb without PCIe adapters - works great.

Thanks for the link. I am trying to emancipate myself from GUI overclocking :-)
But its been pretty confusing following that guide.
For example he states
Quote
nvidia-smi tool is documentent just find your max clock and set it, if your lazy you can copy/past this:

nvidia-smi -ac 1911,4004

and your set.

Which is wrong, because he swapped the core/mem. It should state nvidia-smi -ac 4004, 1911.
But on my 1060 it also does nothing. Supposedly -ac command overclocking works only on Maxwell cards.
Also I have no idea why he uses GPUPowerMizerMode=1?
Does not do a thing on my side.
Anyone had better luck?

Hi friends diggers, I want to ask maybe someone encountered such equipment ... I have 4 power supplies here are those with 2 servers IBM 570 (5628 IBM 1600W AC Power Supply 44V3086) but the problem is that they do not have wires! I would like to solder the standard wires to connect to the motherboard and video cards, who can help to be ready to reward such power supplies, please help me to unzip 2 pieces and 2 pieces I will give to you. Maybe someone here lives with ukraine from Kiev. There are many more similar units but slightly lower power from 1200 to 1400 watts. Thanks in advance. Roll Eyes

Hi was the same problem that you had on 4 graphics cards 1060 3GB found a solution that I had 3 were connected through a riser and a 4-mouth in the slot on the board was a snap from the slot on the board and inserted into the riser and it all worked well and without crashing.

Hi was the same problem that you had on 4 graphics cards 1060 3GB found a solution that I had 3 were connected through a riser and a 4-mouth in the slot on the board was a snap from the slot on the board and inserted into the riser and it all worked well and without crashing.

Just yesterday I added my 4th card (Gigabyte GTX1070 G1 Gaming) and at first I had a similar problem. The rig had already 1 of those 1070s and 2 Galax GTX1060 6GB. It is an Asrock H81 Pro BTC motherboard running Windows 8.1 (unfortunately - would rather run Linux), all GPUs on the powered risers that use USB3 cables.

When I plugged in the new 1070 one of the 1060s "disappeared". First I tried a different riser because my experience tells me that 70% of problems I've had in the past (mining ETH for about a year with AMD rigs) were riser problems - most risers you buy are just badly made, untested mass manufactured shit.

Eventually I "fixed" the problem by just plugging one of the 1060s into a different PCIe slot. The Asrock H81 Pro BTC has a x1 PCIE slot above the x16 slot, so I put the riser into that slot instead of the one it was in (2nd x1 slot below the x16 slot).

I have no idea if it was just because I moved the riser and seated it in the slot properly, or if I have a bad slot.

Anyway - the point is, my suggestion is to try different PCIe slots and ALWAYS have a spare riser or three around to try because they are mostly shit and they fail over time. Actually I have found that at least 1/5 of them don't even work when you first buy them. I always order twice as many as I need.

Crypto currency enthusiast and miner since 2015. Mined approx 200 ETH during 2016 and 2017 and sold it at approximately $US40 each. Then I watched it reach $1000+ each. If anyone bothers to read this stuff pay attention to this: HODL HODL HODL HODL HODL HODL

I started mining with 1 AMD 7950 and 1 R9-280X. Then I gradually built my AMD operation into 12 R9-290s. Awesome ETH hash but ridiculous power consumption and heat. Over the last year I defected to the Nvidia team. I now use GTX 1070s. They were expensive to buy (probably a bargain now) but awesome hash rate vs. power consumption. blah blah blah blah

@EWBF - firstly thank you very much for your fantastic miner.

I have a big request for your miner, which I believe will make it a killer for those of us who wish to use Nvidia based Linux rigs for ZEC or ZCL mining.

If you can somehow include the setting of individual core & memory clocks and powerlimit, in either percent like MSI afterburner or just in watts - for each card in a mining rig using your software - you could probably totally corner the market for people mining with Nvidia cards in equihash on Linux.

I currently use WIN8.1 and MSI afterburner on a rig with 2 x 1070s and 2 x 1060 6GBs. I would so much rather use Linux! I tried looking at PiMP's Nvidia version, which includes your miner but I don't think they have separate OC/powerlimit control. I also had a look at the link provided in a previous post https://forum.ethereum.org/discussion/7780/gtx1070-linux-installation-and-mining-clue-goodbye-amd-welcome-nvidia-for-miners/p1 but that stuff was way over my head.

Maybe I should just accept that I have a working Win8.1 rig doing 1400sol/s for only 500W but I just HATE using Windows if I can avoid it.

Many/most of the other major miner software variants out there seem to incorporate overclocking control. Claymore has it in his miners but he doesn't yet have a CUDA capable equihash miner. He has it in his ETH/ETC miner.

I have no idea how much work this will add to your effort, so I don't know whether this is a big deal for you or not, but I think it would be awesome to have overclocking in your miner - then it would have pretty much everything!
