Efficiency on 1080ti doesn't look too great, i mined zec with 4 gtx 1080s FE and my peak efficiency was around 4.2-4.3 sol/s per W using ewbf 0.3.3b(65% power), haven't tried excavator myself.

That is very high efficiency for a 1080 at 65% power. I peak at 3.7 if I move the power there and I got full memory OC and a fair core OC. I need to drop to 55% for that efficiency you got. Is that your best card?

(quotes SNIPPed, see #2287)

btw, here's another thread mentioning some nvidia OC steps for linux. sounds like its also recommending using ubuntu (16.04 in this case).  Huh
EDIT: might take a look at fullzeros nvOC which looks promising...

so i tried fullzeros nvOC which is basically an ubuntu 16.04 image with autologin automatically starting a terminal-window which per default runs a shellscript that does the magic. nice idea, quite convenient to use but sadly, no overclocking possible with this as well as my cards go straight to perfLevel2 after launching a miner (tried several, behaviour is all the same) :/

so it seems not to be an issue of the OS itself neither the configuration as i suspect fullzero is able to adjust clocks when running nvOC.
then it might be a matter of a certain card-bios behaviour? whats odd is that i have two different cards in my system from different vendors/manufacturers.
the gtx 980 is a rather sh***y one from Inno3d (HerculeZ X3 Air Boss), the gtx 970 is an asus strix oc one which seems to be of decent quality.
both cards show the same behaviour with being stuck in performance level 2 when under load thux loosing their OC-setting and failing on re-setting it while not in perfLevel 3 (read-only in pl2).
wondering that i haven't come across more ppl with the same issue, might not appear when running windows possibly...

Hello! I'm very comfortable with the log file with the parameter --log 1, look for errors, but in this mode there is no date and time errors - can this be fixed?

I don't have any Maxwell cards, so I didn't test them.  According to Nvidia, the driver should support them as well.  I'm not sure if nvOC (as is) can support Maxwell Cards.  My first guess is that the syntax to OC Maxwell cards may be different.

I'm sure someone here knows if that is the case; and can also provide an example command to OC a Maxwell card.

Unless the Maxwell syntax is different; setting the perfLevel should be capable by adding:
nvidia-settings -a [gpu:${i}]/GPUPowerMizerMode=2
to the inside of the loop in oneBash

try to increase your ram you can squeeze more hash without increase the wattage

Don't use the Mini cards for mining. They will go hot, throttle and deliver a low hashrate. After a while the Fans will break as well..

no my msi afterburner is

     0
   72% ---------power limit
+233 --------- core
+233 --------- ram
   66% -------- fan speed

my entire system watts 175
my hash rate is about 510h

I will be adding 2 1080ti's to this
newer setting of 75% power = 176 watts whole system about 510 h

161 watts at 67 power setting  gave me about  490 h

For zcash with reduced tdp it might not be a problem with the mini cards, but for other algos like ethereum+dualmining and 100% tdp it is..
I have a few mini cards, and they trottle and deliver a low hashrate over time.

Yeah Zcash algo is not that demanding, but also the Zotac card, is not that "mini". It is still relatively large and has big heatsink and has two fans.

I also have many Zotac mini 1070's; my first 6 I started mining with in AUG last year.  I haven't had any issues with them, even when running them at stock TDP ~151 watts.

Maybe this is an old problem but.. I forced p 0 state on nvidia inspector. when rig is in idle mode I see p 0 state but when I start ewbf going to p 2 state. Even if I forced it on p 0.
Do you have fixed this problem?

I found a work around by changing the P2 state memory clock. Core clock comes from the P0 state for me.

Hello all,

I've been working on optimizing the miner for windows and linux.

Here's my most optimal current setup:

miner v0.3.3b
GTX 1070
Windows 7
90% TDP
+200 Core Clock
+700 Memory Clock
450 Sol/s

I'd prefer to mine in linux, and my initial setup attempt with ubuntu 16.10 - I've not been able to get overclocking to work right so it seems it is at stock - but at 100% TDP, it seems I'm only getting 420sol/s.

Has anyone been able to get better numbers with linux at all or should I stick with Windows 7? I've had a very frustrating time working with trying to get the overclock to work, doesn't seem to be functional via the GUI.
