Why do they say Tezos can rival Ethereum? What would this rivalry be like? Of course it would be necessary to know what kind of rivalry, the fact is that great people are betting a lot on this project, ICO was extremely successful and with a few tens of millions of dollars to work with marketing, Tezos will be a giant.

Given the current numbers, a total of 607,489,040.89 ꜩ will be created in the genesis block for fundraiser participants, a further 3,156,502.85 ꜩ will be created for early backers and contractors, and 76,330,692.97 ꜩ each will be created for the Tezos Foundation and DLS. The allocations to the Tezos Foundation and DLS will vest monthly over 4 years. This implies a total initial supply of 763,306,929.69 ꜩ tokens with 20% locked in vesting contracts.

So, out of 763m total tokens there will be approx 600m tradeable tokens, then figure approx 75% of tokens will be staked (a guess here, maybe someone has a better one?) which gives about 150m maximum coins offered for sale on exchanges (this figure will of course be less because many will just hold the coins rather than sell or stake them). Given this, expect a misleading mkt cap and coin ranking when simply looking at total tokens vs price. This is why it is very unlikely to plunge below ico price, which is what some believe will happen.
If this platform proves to be solid with clear advantages over eth, and popularity takes off, expect ridiculous prices because the higher the price the more people will be encouraged to stake.
Of course, there is the risk of the platform showing a big flaw, or God forbid it never even launches, so there is risk for ico buyers mixed with the huge potential.

To be honest the September update looks very promising for me. I really excited to see the roadmap and what's coming in future. Tezos fundation has a hugh potential

yes ,  we do need to see the  process of  tezos development,  there are so many investors  are  expecting  the  success of  this  project.

Staking (baking) can swallow the big supply... Few  days hype, price rise and fall is not enough reason to dictate the future of Tezos. It can get to Ethereum price level at the moment, yes...but it may take years

Not necessarily, Tezos actually has the chance to be usefull to companies and people, unlike shitcoin pump/dumps like Lisk and Stratis. Additionally, no coin including btc has even scratched the surface of mass adoption - if btc attains a trillion dollar mkt cap, Tezos could end up at $100+ in 2-3 years. But you are probably right, inside of a year it won't go beyond 10x.
In crypto, never underestimate what can happen.

That's the impression I'm getting, that once they go live, you swap your futures contract (or whatever they call it) with, the real tokens, but I don't know how they do that. I guess it would be good to do more research on it. Ask the exchange how they presell the token, I guess there must be other who have contributed there tezies to the exchange.

I for one, have not sold any.
