But maybe.

I decided I would take one for the team and sell some BTC, this usually triggers an upswing immediately afterward. You're welcome!  Cry

Chinese Extinct Creature Slumber Method prediction for Sunday Mar/09

Prediction valid for: Sunday 2014-03-09, 19:00--19:59 UTC (not before, not after)
Huobi's predicted price: 3596 CNY.
Bitstamp's predicted price: 588 USD.

Huobi

The red and green strokes are actual Huobi hourly prices.  The current prediction is the rightmost magenta rectangle.  The blue rectangle is the last prediction (see below), and the light blue-gray rectangles are the previous ones.  The orange and grey dots are the Slumber Points, the mean Huobi prices at 19:00 UTC every day.  Each point is a Glyptodon if the hourly volume Vh for 19:00--19:59 UTC is less than 0.005 times the daily volume Vd 00:00--23:59 UTC; and is an Albertosaurus otherwise. The grey lines are trends fitted a posteriori to the Glyptodon Points. The orange line is the trend that was assumed for the prediction.

Today was a Glyptodon, barely (Vh/Vd = 0.00437 < 0.005). This point is roughly aligned with the three previous Glyptodon points (and even with yesterday's Albertosaurus), so it seems reasonable to use the least squares straight line defined by those four Glyptodons; namely, p(d) = A+B*(d-4), where d is the day of the month, A = 4056.20 and B = -91.97.

(This Glyptodon point may also be the start of a new trend, after yesterday's Albertosarus; but this hypothesis would not allow a prediction for tomorrow.)

Bitstamp

The red and green strokes are actual Bitstamp hourly prices.  The dots, dinosaurs, mammals, lines, and rectangles are Huobi's Slumber Points, dinosaurs, mammals, trends, and predictions, scaled by the currency conversion factor R (6.40 for Feb/07--09, 6.12 for all other times).

Checking the previous prediction

Prediction was posted on: Saturday 2014-03-08, 01:00 UTC
Prediction was valid for: Saturday 2014-03-08, 19:00--19:59 UTC

Huobi's predicted price: 3891 CNY
Huobi's actual price (L+H)/2: 3668 CNY
Error: 223 CNY (~36 USD)

Bitstamp's predicted price: 636 USD
Bitstamp's actual price (L+H)/2: 614 USD
Error: 22 USD

NOTE: Apologies for the delay in implementing the pterodactyls and icthyosaurs, but they are stuck because of a bug in the bitcoin protocol.

Does anyone know of a page/site where I can watch the spread between the different markets? To spot arbitrage opportunities.

If a bank creates a BTC fund they make money every time someone buys or sells a stake in that fund. If people want an easy way to buy or sell BTC (and I suspect they do), then the banks will want to profit from that need.

...and it's also possible they want their own positions; I assume if that's the case they're already buying (and I haven't looked for evidence of that).

Unlikely they're buying anything right now.  The total dollar value in play on the exchanges is so small any activity on their part would change the market.
It's the same reason big investment blocks don't play with penny stocks.  There just isn't money to made on the scale a bank would be interested in

Add to that the fact that the exchanges at this point are unreliable. Banks aren't about to put money into something they can't easily get it back out of.

Ironically part of the reason exchanges are unreliable is because banks aren't very inviting towards businesses involved in Bitcoin.

Likely because of where this thread started - regulation. Banks are heavily regulated, and can't operate outside that.

NOW>>>> if we could just get up to $666 again...  Maybe that could be the new poll question, even though the old one has NOT been met and the time has NOT run, yet?  I am inclined to think we will NOT quite make it to $666 today.. but maybe tomorrow or Monday.. even though we still seem to have the Monday (two bit) news looming over us...

How long does it take to get your money? I've wondered if normal international wire transfers would be about the same speed. But if Coinbase takes just a few dollars for small transactionsthen that would be ideal too.

Up to 4 business days. It said by Thursday March 13, 2014, though usually it comes earlier.
Edit:
From the site: When you sell bitcoin, the money usually arrives in your bank account in 1-3 business days. The amount of time it takes can vary based on who you bank with.

^ Brother confirms Dorian suffered a stroke and has memory issues. That would explain his speech problems and why he might not have a clear memory of his involvement with bitcoin.

(off topic)

i've been looking for the best/secure way to make a customed wallet address lately and that vanity website seems to be the simplest way to do so. however, i'm quite worry about the fact that my private key could be leaked at some point if using such web based service. anyone could enlighten me regarding this matter?

thx

edit: i understood that i generate a part of the private key (moving the mouse on the screen) and they would then give me the other part of it but how can i be sure the part that i previously generated through their website hasnt been saved/stolen too?

Rather than use a website, just run vanitygen on your computer

arf, i just deleted the post to create a new topic in some more relevant part of the forum.
Thx for the answer tho.
I'd figure running the vanitygen on my computer would be better, but as im running on a mac, it seemed quite complicated to do so  Undecided
(im not very familiar with github - any guide you could recommend me to get this done?)
