It seems the "old ones" doesn't understand what bitcoin is or the whole cryptocurrency. The so called experts are also old and calling all fud against bitcoin. Yet almost all crypto enthusiasts are the younger generation, mid 30's and below. There is the barrier. The technological gap between old and young. Give it a few years when we "young" are the old, then we'll see it flourish. Early 30's here. Steady. You will find in this august thread many fine gentlemen of the older persuasion. That said, you're right, it is hard for someone in their fifties or more to change their mental and personal financial model utterly to suit the demands of bitcoin. You pesky kids though. It is all very well being 'enthusiastic' and talking of 'whole cryptocurrency' as if that were a thing. If you could just stop all your meddling and blathering on until you are actually 50, you would be doing bitcoin a great service. There are many more pressing concerns than you seem to be aware of.

I'm young and I have some FUD for you. Just when the older generation finally starts accepting it, the underlying encryption will be broken and they wont have any idea what that means. They'll be like 'what are these youngsters jabbering about? bitcoin just got licensed in new york! so what is the ceo and the board of directors doing about this bizzare issue? Did they halt bitcoin yet? These low prices are a steal and you better get in before Goldman Sachs.'

There is no need to break any encryption when you have several centralized scamcoins in the top 10. Those into scamcoins are the first in line to get burned, which by the way are both grandpas and kids who are just after the price action.

Looks like the lightning network applied to any blockchain. Figured it would be coming. Does this undermine Bitcoin’s competitive edge with lightning network innovation? Will ethereum and other altcoins be using teechain or lightning network equivalents?

Um, first of all: what does this have to do with Bitcoin Price Speculation? And secondly, how could Fake News possibly the "biggest threat humankind will ever face"? How about global warming, nuclear war, or over population / famine, just to name a few? Well, for starters, global warming and overpopulation are fake news So it's kind of a catch-all. I like the one where they say we are running out of water (then the article goes on to say fresh water) Or the one where female circumcision is mutilation but male circumcision is healthy I like how after 50 years and more of research no cure has been found, for anything, with all the f$%kin charitable research around (only vaccines, weird) etc, etc , etc wait, wait this ones good we need to reduce carbon, we can tax it, yet we destroy more trees and pollute more water, the actual thing that creates air Famine- this is another good one End Last year western charities, newspapers and government were concerned for the famine and disease in "YEMEN" The very f$%kin country they are helping the saudis to blow up.... I can see your point on all but the one highlighted in red. Female circumcision is removing the hood from the clitoris which in and of itself is not much different than male circumcision (which is likely an unnecessary ritualistic behaviour that mankind has medicalized) but female genital mutilation covers a few more "procedures" which are not as seemingly benign such as: intermediate infibulation, total infibulation and vaginal fusing. These procedures are designed to ensure that the girl will never experience sexual pleasure in her life. These are barbaric procedures which involve removal of the clitoris and/or partial to full closing of the vagina by lacerating the vaginal walls. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Female_genital_mutilation

Same here and jumped in 2013 building a gpu miner with borrowed money. In the young uns defence though, when i was 30, i thought 50+ was a lifetime away and technology to that age group was beyond comprehension. Of course i was wrong, as they are now

Or they could also, I dunno, do some actual fkn research instead of blindly throwing money at every crypto just because it exists, or has "coin", "currency", "cash" in the name, or because it is a "token" that "ICO'ed", or because it will supposedly solve some future problem that doesn't exist and never will. As if the whole crypto space is a thing and is worthy of investment across the board. That's like saying every stock in the whole stock market (penny shit stocks and all) is worthy of investment "because equity space". Remember the "dot com space"? Yeah we saw how that turned out.
