OG Bitcoin bulls were the only ones excited. Hadn't broken previous ATH of 1150 yet. MSM was hardly reporting anything. Trolls were long gone. Volume was still low. Nocoiners were still oblivious.

Then we rounded the corner into 2017 and broke the previous ATH. And then all hell broke loose. MSM went crazy after that.

So we've still got all of 2021 to go before we see "crazy shit".

Agreed.  There has got to be some ways to boot up such hard drive to see if there are any wallets on there that might have some BTC/LTC... even fragments such as .5BTC might be worth the investigation. 

I am not a very technical peep, so probably I will read that others have responded to your post with better and more specific information, so in that regard, there are likely plenty of technical peeps here or able to direct you to a better thread for discussion of such matters.  Hopefully, you will report back regarding your getting into such disk and inspecting its contents.

a USB to PATA adapter was already mentioned upthread. and then a free program like everything to index it. or to be super thorough, use some other proggie to do a raw sector search for strings unique to wallet.dats

I paid $1000 on sale for my first flat monitor...  It was amazing.  Nineteen inch square screen WOW!  Still works ~20 years on.  ALL intervening cheaper ones died in a handful of years.  They just don't make them like they used to.
