Let see the logic:

-if Mtgox announces "no withdrawals yet", price on bitstamp goes down.
-if Mtgox announces "withdrawals now", price on bitstamp goes down.

Why the fck doesn't the price on bitstamp fall right now?

If MtGox announces "All your coin are belong to us you have no chance to withdraw make your time ha ha ha ha ha", price on bitstamp goes up, as goxheads scramble to replace their lost coins.

I don't see the reason anyone should panic over something as obvious as that but..
it seems like goxcoins are officially launched today right?

japanese police is investigating mtgox. that´s why mk is talking strange stuff. they were forced to move out. japanese government will declare bitcoin illegal in japan. insiders know it, dump their coins for any price, since they know they get the dollars after investigation/dissolving of gox is over.

confirmed.

Bitcoin will be illegal in Japan... you really think this ?

no, it was a joke.

actually this whole gox thing is a joke. wtf will happen now, after this non-announcement ? what is next ?

yeah sorry, I got that  now : ) I have just woke up and got 20 pages to read through... got an itchy trigger finger hovering over Bitcoinbuilder gox coin buys right now......

Also got a real twitchy eyelid today... I am sat here looking at this forum and MtGox price/Bitcoinbuilder, with my eyelid going for it full spaz mode...   I look like a madman.

This MtGox thang is dragging out huh?

 Grin

Not even an ETA for the next update. I can't see this ending well. (Except for me, because coinbase issues prevented me from buying yesterday:D)

My input as an average Joe public... I have some buy orders in the low 500's but am seriously thinking about cancelling them now, I'm new to bitcoin, discovered it in December, but frankly, it's beginning to look like a joke now and I have other places to invest if this is going to drag on and on with no obvious change in sentiment on the horizon.

Also, to someone new to BTC, the fall of MTGox from it's December figure to todays mess is beyond disturbing  Cry

Gox mess is disturbing for many. Don't want to scare you but if you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. Investment is risk. If you want a more sure thing then try the interest rate at a local bank or maybe government bonds.

Another option is to not buy more BTC than you need. Buy it, use it quickly, then your risk is next to nothing. Whatever you do, keep your investment at a level that doesn't impact you if lost. The cold feet you're feeling is a good indication you shouldn't be investing in anything at all.

OK I'm fed up with this now.

Mt.Gox, do us a favor, keel over and die.

Karpeles, go run a sandwich bar or something where your fuckups will have less impact.

that 54 sell at 594 was a wise move. IMHO.

Not selling fud, but we're at the edge of a precepice - I'm already well in the red thanks to my greed, so goign to wait for this to stabalize before buying back in.  Even if i have to buy back in at 1000$ and be totally wrong.

Good grief gox, what the bloody hell I'd never imagined it would be this bad

Didn't Casey Serin sit on one of those? It should have a label that says "Warning: might suck brain out of ass."

Let's all chill out, let them fix it. I think it is highly likely they'll have a better descriptor of what is going on tomorrow.

I do find it funny that the insider traders didn't dump just after the announcement maximum effect Cheesy

Highly likely.

I'm going to go with d.) Mark forming a groundbreaking strategic partnership with Starbucks for settlement of USD funds and BTC Payments for Frappachinos with whipped cream (only)

Gox selling coins for goxdollars , and now selling fake coins?
I wonder how many coins were supposed to be there (not on the orderbook only) and how many $.

I'm tempted to send just 1 btc (or use bitcoinbuilder) to mtgox and turn it into like 50btc with all the crazy volatility. I did something like this with the flashcrash in april (but on btce). Even if gox defaults and I lose it all, the initial cost was nothing and I don't care. I might even be able to get them back out through bitcoinbuilder before then.
