I don't think we have that consensus quite yet. There is definitely a good sized minority out there who believe that bcash is "the real bitcoin".

...aannd there's your problem right there. If you believe that consensus means that 100% of end users are going to agree on what is the real Bitcoin, then you're never going to achieve consensus. Because that's never going to happen.

Here comes that volatility.  This band of resistance/support we are entering has played a significant role in Bitcoins price action since it was encountered last year. I think we are heading towards 10K+ price but it would do well to keep a eye on this area for support if a bounce downward happens.

We have acquired this modified Schiff fork I have been looking at but it is tenuous at best right now. Further movement upwards could validate this trend line. Short term I expect a small amount of shorting and profit taking and perhaps even some consolidation in this area before heading upwards again.

As often the case with Bitcoin I'm surprised how it moves more rapidly then I would expect.   This is true in both directions but I always expect it to take longer upwards then it does.    My very short term view is price confirming above previous resistance, this is working its way through orders overhanging from the decline.     The Tide returning picking up the old bands of seaweed on the shore, not quite sure of that analogy but theres memory in the price is what we are encountering here.   I do rate this positively, I expect some pullback from 9277 but its just stepped over it

No I don't. If bcash was like #17 or #37 on coinmarketcap I would call that consensus and be done with it. But it isn't now is it. It's number fucking 3. THREE! It's FIVE TIMES the market cap of Monero, which is a truly exceptional project.

Bcash should be "just another altcoin" at best. I can say that with confidence because looking at the tech you can show that it's privileged position above all of the other rank and file altcoins has nothing to do with tech, there is no special tech there anywhere. So it must be that it's wildly high marketcap comes from something else besides the tech. I think it follows that the thing that sets it apart in this way is that a sizable minority of people believe it is bitcoin.

So there too is my standard for when I would say there is consensus that bitcoin core is the real bitcoin. When bcash's marketcap is that of any other rank and file altcoin. Or maybe I would say when it has a value that reflects it's utility.

*edit* I said 3 instead of 4 because ripple isn't really a cryptocurrency and it's claimed supply isn't actually traded anyway even if it was.

I dont care about BCH so much, its Ripple I worry about more with a giant market cap and its opaque non liquid holdings that slowly derive a massive benefit to that central authority.     The scary thing is FIAT occurring in crypto form and corrupting its core principles and deceiving the masses into accepting which isnt really beneficial for them.   Such as for example the Petro token issuance on a national scale, apparently there is no cap or limit to how much extra coins can be produced by Nicolás Maduro regime which is worrying to say the least.   The path of least resistance says what unfolds is quite predictable and negative, though I would love to be proved wrong and crypto could be a massive positive nationally.   Events like Mt.gox or whatever future echo of that centralised failure, by mis-selling crypto is damaging to everyone

A few guys with deep pockets can do a lot to increases the apparent value of a coin.

Without pumping by Ayre and Ver, and supply restriction by Ver and Jihan, Bcash would probably be competing with Bitcoin Gold and Bitcoin Private in marketcap.

you need to find an adequate animated gif, pic or meme to go along with your bold statement. Grin
Let's stop kidding, we all know you are being sarcastic

In the meanwhile I am tempted to reduce my alts position to 5% (from 10%). I have few which I care about a bit (because they have never been presented like better than bitcoin)

Anyway I'm getting really tired of this and really annoyed that there isn't one single person to step forward to say that they understand what I mean. Even though I really do believe in what I am saying and I think that I have good arguments behind it even I am starting to feel like a troll at this point. So I think I am going to disengage from this pursuit.
Disengage from Nazi noise too, and you could find even more respect.

Hopefully that is all it is. If it is than it will quickly become apparent. Deep pockets can only prop up a market for so long.

A pet peeve of mine is the incorrect use of the words then and than.  The word than is a conjunction that should be used for making comparisons whereas the word then can be used as an adjective or an adverb.  Most of the time it's just annoying to see but the text above highlighted in red is a perfect example of a case where the word then is being used improperly and altering the meaning of the sentence completely leaving us to guess what you mean.  So I feel the need to complain publicly.  It is not my intention to offend; merely to educate.

...I always expect it to take longer upwards then it does.  <-this sentence indicates that when you expect Bitcoin to rise slowly, it does in fact rise slowly indicating you're an oracle.

...I always expect it to take longer upwards than it does. <-this sentence indicates that when you expect Bitcoin to rise slowly, it does not rise slowly indicating that you're a novice.

Here's a practice sentence for anyone interested.

If I have offended you than I apologize.

I'm less enthused about sailboats than I was. Getting a new motor boat in the water this year, way faster and more convenient to get around, and they tend to have better indoor space. This one certainly does.
Can you share it with us? I'm curious. I love sailing and I love yachts. It should come as no surprise that I really love when the two of them are together in one package but I still like each of them independently.

It should be ready to hit the water this spring, gonna toot around on my first boat until it's ready. And when it is, taking a trip from Denmark down through europe.
That sounds awesome. I can't wait to get to a point in my life where I can do something like that.

This is the test to determine the real Bitcoin, it's really very simple:

I run old original Bitcoin software that was released before the 2017 forks, both hard and soft.
I use that software to make a transaction.
The chain upon which that transaction is accepted is the real Bitcoin.

So... they're both the real Bitcoin!?

Explain pls.

Tx as you describe as being generated on old SW is valid on BTC chain and valid on BCH chain. Accepted upon both chains. Ergo, according to your criteria, both the BTC chain and the BCH chain are Bitcoin.

Whatever my wallet supports is tha reeeeul bitcoin.

I cannot disagree with that. In a decentralized, permissionless, consensus-based system, that is exactly the right answer. We all decide for ourselves which is 'tha reeeeul bitcoin'.

Or to state it another way, any chain's bitcoin-ish-ness is an emergent property of the system.

So I just checked out the bitcoin price and it is rising drastically. Seems the market regaining time has come. All the holders seem to come in relief and all the ones entered in the bitcoin community while it was low around 6k also have great new.
Maybe last years record is about to break soon.

Who is manipulating the market? Where is all that money coming from? Big Whales? Wall Street? Fact for me is, it wont end well. If BCash could achive 4k before the Fork, I´ll sell mine.

[[edited out]

Didn't you know this is the Wall Observer Maximalist thread.

I know exactly what you mean but risk being shouted at to say that here  Cool

On the date of the bitcoin cash fork. Bitcoin core forked too didn't they? That was when segwit was activated. The original bitcoin in reality is an etheric and ambigous thing which probably no longer exists. The real shit slinging match is over the brand.

nonsense.

I think all of the money is coming from all the people who sold on the way down. It isn't necessarily new money. There is still a lot more old money waiting on the sidelines or in alts too.
