Or just a bear trap. This is a classical falling wedge pattern btw.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wedge_pattern
"When this pattern is found in an uptrend, it is considered a bullish pattern, as the market range becomes narrower into the correction, indicating that the downward trend is losing strength and the resumption of the uptrend is in the making. "
Since the creation of Bitcoin we are in an uptrend, so its resumption is in the making.
I expect a strong breakout soon. Moreover, any moment CFTC will approve ICE futures (the so called bakkt) which is with an actual buying of bitcoins. So we may see above 10K sooner than expected!

If we break out to $10k+ very soon, we're probably not going to hold that price point for long. It would most likely lead to lower lows (sub $5k).

I'd much prefer we go sideways for a while.
Sub 5K is too much. Even now the miners are with a very slim profit. At 5K only those who have free electricity (may be less than 1%) will have any profit in terms of cents. Once we are out of the falling wedge pattern, the trade differs of what we've had before. So even if we don't hold 10K for long, the correction will not be in the 6K area, but much higher - say 8K. Then the upward trend will resume until the next resistance and so on.

OT : Hey guys, isn't it great that Ripple has a "product" launching soon?

https://www.cnbc.com/2018/09/17/ripple-hints-cryptocurrency-product-xrapid-will-go-live-soon.html

I mean, isn't that what we all want for our cryptocurrency? To be commercialized and commoditized for a centralized company's profit? /s  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

And of course there's this, lol:

Ripple, founded in 2012, owns about 60 billion of the 100 billion XRP tokens in circulation

Ripple really shouldn't be considered cryptocurrency.

Why even put it in the above list of 10 top coins, when there is no reason to consider it a cryptocurrency if it doesn't need a blockchain.
You could just make the whole system more efficient and make it a simple centralized payment processor.

So many projects nowadays forcefully put their data into blockchains when they don't need them.
Just makes the whole system slower for no reason.

Since they are already centralized, one of these days they will come up with an amazing new unique idea to replace a blockchain with a simple ledger for efficiency purposes. They will become just a normal bank and reach their full potential.

And down we go.

I won't be surprised if we find ourselves the mid 5ks by the weekend.

Please, capitulate. Stop checking the price every minute, will you?

I will check it for you, don't worry.  O:-)

It’s still nothing and could be part of building base for a jump upwards (see MACD cross on the Daily).

Tezos Mainnet Is Live

On June 30, the Tezos Foundation proposed a genesis block that became the seed of the Tezos network. For a time following the proposal, there was an expectation that, while fully operational, the network had a higher likelihood of experiencing unscheduled downtime along with maintenance and adjustments, and so we regarded the network as a […]

OT : Linus Torvalds, a stunning admission of his own flawed behavior when dealing with colleagues.

https://www.cnbc.com/2018/09/17/linux-creator-linus-torvalds-takes-time-off-apologizes-for-behavior.html

I admire the guy for the recognition and self-reflection, and the apologies. Took him a while though.

Last week we were in the $6100s. This week we dipped down to the $6300s. Zooming out shows it's going upwards.

I just pulled the trigger and bought another $1000 from $6500.  Grin

It was a risky decision if you think for short term but since I am here till 2021 It doesn't matter much...
