According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

Whoa. You have to be luck to intercept deep thought posts in WO, where it get quickly devoured in memes and one liners. I’m going to cross reference it in my monthly post to scan for good analysis..

Thanks. Your analyses have been excellent and very comprehensive BTW.

This chart would suggest price is likely to stay around $4k (=/- 1k) until June 2020.

I would guess that is not a popular view. Most posters would refuse to believe it.

I know you've posted about this a few time before, but can you give a quick rundown as to your rationale?

My GF knows I wouldn't hesitate to do that if she suggested selling even *HER* Bitcoins. (*)

(*) After the last bubble "fiasco", I gave her permission to start trying to convince me above a certain (undisclosed) future price though.

Lucky girl hehe:D

let's wait for Mrs LFC and Mrs Mic perspective also.

I always have difficulties remembering when I had my first BTC’s but it was @350-ish right in front of the BULLrun (the one introduced me to BTC “told the story many times...https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2827596.msg50321842#msg50321842” was in around or just in front mtGox...”)
He kept accumulating etc all the time and when he met me properly he introduced me and my GF to BTC and we jumped on it with not to much thinking, I was lucky cause I won the first pieces easily and thats just a good start with something that was unknown for me....

To make it short that game grew out as one of my better friends and my GF end up working in his BTC-related business ....

She was lucky and really bought them on the cheap and did HODLed it all the way till today, with no selling intentions ..... i’m a very lucky Guy that we have similar thought on this matter, cause I can guess in a bearmarket its not easy with all other couples....

+2 WO merit.
One for you and another for your girl friend 🙂
Also tell her that I thanked her to believe in bitcoins.

Do you think that these neato 4-year cycles would continue forever?

Nope. Only until the world at large has an understanding of how to use Bitcoin.

My gf was moaning throughout most of 2018 telling me I’d thrown away the chance for us to be rich. She was upset & cried a lot to be honest Cheesy
She said bitcoin is dead & I threw away X amount of money etc but I told her this is how it goes, a normal cycle.

Now she’s checking the price 10 times a day again, telling me to buy all the time.

Fucking women hey Cheesy
LOL
Thank God that she relaized the potential finally.

Still unanswered: How LN is going to help when Layer 1 is already clogged to the point of uselessness.

We will cross that bridge when we get there.

If this price pump continues, we could get there next week. Unfortunately, there is no solution on the horizon under discussion.

And, get the fuck out of here with your exaggeration that there is no plan in BTC..

OK, JJG. Tell me what the plan is to deal with the fact that once blocks are persistently full, then average fees rise uncontrollably, average wait times raise uncontrollably, LN channel openings and closings get economically prohibitive, and number of new entrants gets hard-capped.

What is the plan, JJG - what is the plan?
