i will never own an alexa/google/amazon voice activated device, unless there is an actual physical switch to cut the mics out of circuit. [...] btw many modern tvs have mics and web cams built in now. and IoT stuff like security cameras, some of which have mics so you can use then for intercoms, are notoriously bad at security and most will never get updates. [...] like any smartphone or laptop with a built in mic is powered off and put in another room when setting up wallet seed words. paranoia? sure but it is based on failings of the current tech used.
The only sure way is to unplug everything and remove the batteries. some devices dont have removable batteries anymore (think latest gen smartphones) and they may have super capacitor backup.. again, not removable. and most all devices nowadays are still minimally "on" even when theyre "off" via the power button. something is always running, if only to monitor the power button status. and if it can do that when "off" it can do most anything else when programmed right. camera, mics, access files ect. therefor they can be compromised even when off. they have to be far enough away that they simply cant spy on you.

You want a magnet-proof wallet? Oops. I'm showing my age again. hollorith(sP?) code storage. gotta run Punch cards would be good for storing a private key, so long as they don't flutter off into the wind and get mixed together out of order. Or if you lose one. Probably better off just writing it down on a piece of paper... Well hey, if they ran the HAL-9000 off those things, maybe they could run a decentralized network. Maybe not.

The mighty Floppy diskThe only mobile storage available back then. Who had one/some? These modern ones aren't even floppy. 8 inches of truly floppy is the only way to move data

Are you saying the Floppy disks are still in the market? don't think so. Haven't flapped one in er, decades I should think just always seemed odd that they were still called floppy when after the 5 1/4 they weren't. I suppose "hard" had been taken...

The mighty Floppy diskThe only mobile storage available back then. Who had one/some? These were called "stiffy" disks back in my part of town. The 8" floppy disks are the much bigger cousin of this guy and is what I used to play Space quest 1 on. God those were the days.

That's an interesting idea... Of course if you're a moron who uses a really simple mnemonic its not going to help you. From the how it works: "These words are pulled from a specific list of 2048 words. In this list, the first 4 letters are unique to each word.
In other words, there are no two words in this list with the same first 4 letters.
That means if you have the first 4 letters, you know the rest of the word by looking for those first 4 letters in the BIP39 list. Some wallets will even fill in the rest of the word once the first 4 letters are entered."Hmm... so its built for a 6 word mnemonic out of a list of 2048 words... well that makes 17.54 trillion possible combinations so its probably OK. Of course how you generate the seed matters immensely as well.
