This is a food distribution center (bread line) in Las Vegas.

https://arc-anglerfish-washpost-prod-washpost.s3.amazonaws.com/public/UNIIHBEQUAI6VEZCUKPHL374SM.jpg

I have to note that every single car there is much nicer and newer than anything I own.

Hm.

Well, at least they are helping to stabilize the oil price...
To take a car to a line to get $5 in bread is actually a bit strange.
Some people just like freebies, I guess.
One time when I volunteered at a food bank, I saw a couple of guys in Mercedez coming by and getting a box (with food items).

Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

To be fair they could be passing that supply onto people who cannot leave their house, elderly relatives or something.    Lexus is one of the finest brand cars, thats like Japanese Cadillac so yea Cheesy  Love Volvo and Jeep also, even Police cutting in :p

The ironic thing with that big sell off is I got a merit for pointing out that in the extremes the best source would be to look at people who've seen it all happen before; big peaks then sells after is not news very long term.  The giant swings is not a new phenomena and I think I mentioned this thread for gauge of sentiment, ie. not outright panic just observation etc.    But yea unfortunately theres the theory and the practise and the volatility is bonkers and can force anyones hand, theres definite worth in experience.
Theres often shenanigans around 10k I reckon, both false expectations in either direction and we'll test and trick shorts and longs especially on leverage before choosing a direction and I'd guess that occurs mostly after the half reward event as that kinda pins us till then.

Dollar index fell quite consistently for most of 2017 and we had a good year for BTC but it looks that DXY has recovered back to similar levels and not put too much pressure on BTC.  DXY is of course in reference to other FIAT standards.

Hahahahaha

That's what you get when you try to play too BIG with kingdaddy... especially betting against it.

Good riddance... another bear reckt.. I am sure there will be quite a few more of them coming into the space, believing that they are smarter than everyone else, using traditional tools including ones that might be engaging in fractional reserves, just like there were a lot of the betting against bitcoin bears reckt in 2016 and 2017 - they had fewer tools back then, but doesn't mean that they are not going to get reckt when they try to tame the beast with their fancy new purported "bitcoin-taming" tools and bet the wrong way... the potential players are likely BIGGER... so they have to play with BIGGER amounts when they are "taming the beast" and getting reckt moar bigger.

We're currently  on our 8th green weekly candle. The last time was April-June 2019 and before that was September-November 2015, after we double bottomed off $200.

Could be worse. Could have panicked and pulled a mindrust, dumping your breeches near the bottom. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

One of the arguments for incrementalism
....

So, even if any of us ends up panicking.....  which could happen.. not saying that it could not...  We should panic incrementally.. rather than fully.    Wink

Welcome back $10.000!

The road to $100.000 early retirement is on.

Have a nice weekend WO. Smiley

In the words of Prince Buster:

It's good to be wise when you're young
'cause you can only be young but the once
Enjoy yourself and have lots of fun
So glad and live life longer than you've ever done

Enjoy yourself, it's later than you think
Enjoy yourself, while you're still in the pink
The years go by, as quickly as you wink
Enjoy yourself, enjoy yourself, it's later than you think and have another drink.

I know that jbreher has a lot of respect and sympathy for members like jonoiv,

Not so much as I have respect for the truth. My support of jonoiv is to the effect that some here were repeatedly attacking not him/her, but a straw man misrepresentation of him/her.

Huh?  there is hardly any redeeming aspects to how jonoiv was behaving, and sure sometimes some of the responses to him needed to be exaggerated to make the point.

Jonoiv has come in with his various arrogant know it all assertions on a number of occassions, including when he sold his whole BTC stash (less than .5BTC or whatever mediocre amount) around $6k...during the April to June 2109 run-up.. so he was arguing for months about how inevitably the BTC price was going much lower and even suggesting $2k as inevitable or whatever...

He even had a chance to redeem himself around the March 12 crash, and so I stayed quiet for a bit while I thought that jonoiv might end up kind of turning out to have been able to redeem his position.. and even though he would NOT have appeared to be a genius, he would have appeared to be less dumb.

Instead of redeeming part or all of his position around the March 12 crash, he pulled asserted a position that was similar to mindrust.. in essence waiting for more down, and mindrust gets less bashing because mindrust has been showing himself to be a lot more genuine, and jonoiv had ongoingly been taking ridiculous and outrageous positions.  How can anyone become richie if they are continuing to play all or nothing games.

One of the redeeming aspects about yourself, jbreher, is that even you seem to place a certain importance in terms of exercising incrementalism, and maybe that is part of the reason that we have been retaining such buddiness.. because we agree on placing a certain high amount of value on that aspect of dealing with what seems to be inevitable volatility risk in bitcoin.

Sure, maybe some of my attempts at beating up jonoiv might go a bit over the top, but not only his arrogance deserves such beatings, but also his nearly complete lack of appreciation for incrementalism.  I don't see any need to be sympathetic to that approach, even though there do seem to be some guys here that are better able to deal with some of their lack of abilities/will power to employ incrementalism tactics, but some of the guys here end up getting forced into some kinds of incrementalism because they go "all in" at various points that are a bit too much gambling.. but at least they do not leverage and they are only using cash that they can afford to lose in the event that the BTC price ends up going to zero... so their frequent "all in" ends up playing out as a kind of DCA, even though they don't necessarily appreciate that they are engaging in a kind of DCA tactic.  I am sometimes lecturing against that kind of an approach, too, but I don't have to be so imposing on that kind of approach because it is way less arrogant and does not really end up in various kinds of selling too much too soon, like the jonoiv approach has frequently demonstrated.

The rest of your post is just too silly to bother responding to.

I may have made some jokes, but in essence I am largely trying to be nice to you, even though some of your character has come into question at various times for your ongoing inclinations to argue BIG BLOCKER nonsense... so how much of a joke is that?   Not a whole lot in my opinion.. even though I have been trying to have a wee bit of fun with it.

Seems to me that I am trying to be somewhat nice about the whole thing, but I might be deluding myself, too.... and surely my interaction with you in any kind of way might cause some members to become more pissed off at me for being too nice to you..and by even recognizing any of your points... so maybe you consider some parts of my interactions with you as "silly," when I believe that I am merely attempting to find a less stressful way of making certain serious points responsive to whatever points that you may have made... maybe even hoping that you might be able to come around someday... to tone down with some of your devolutions into misleading nonsense...  perhaps?  Perhaps?  I have said that I have a lot of doubts, so it would not be right to me to concede in regards to some of your points.. you know what I mean?

Humor has less impact when explained...

Anywhoooo... Largely, I am thanking theymos for the rules as they currently exist...

Which largely means that ranking up takes the passage of time.. which means that the activity level of anyone who ranks up has to come up before they are allowed to get to the next rank.  In other words, there is no way to rush the passage of time, but any member could screw up his/her activity level by not staying sufficiently active or sufficiently posting on the forum in order to advance in activity points.
