Meanwhile in the vassal states, things are a bit behind we are told, but beginning to brew up, with a little rioting in Austalistan, the usual? Saturday night stabfest in Bitainistan's second city (might be just usual, youthful exuberance, might be turf wars, which my spies tell me are brewing up in Europistan's major ports), some brave protests in Southern Mongolia, and serious unrest in 'Belarus'.

All links from the virulently leftist state propaganda organ the BBC. Wonder what's really going on. One thing is certain: we need more guns over here. Bodily sovereignty and all that. Oh and more bitcoins.

Whenever I refer to a random poster on this forum I use the the pronoun "they" rather than he or she.
(And yes "they" is grammatically correct for referring to the singular, or so I've heard.)
And not because of all this politically correct gender pronoun nonsense, but simply because  I dont automatically assume
the gender as being a "he" (albeit on this forum, that's usually the case).
I only mention this because in all this swaystar hullabaloo, (apparently triggered by a post of mine)
I was actually suspecting this sway character could be a she. (or not)

back in the day, as in way back in the day, when i learned english (in two different english speaking countries) i thought i learned that when a singular person of unknown sex was referred to "he" could refer to either sex.

however *main memory checksum error* so..

You learned correctly. Language is plastic (ask JJG about that one). Rules change.

Price side, I see again green on my Bitcoin ticker widget app, that's enough of a good morning. Need to pick a day to buy some corn in September for my DCA long term strategy. I welcome suggestions.

Divide your DCA allowance into 4 parts. Buy 1/4 right away. Thereafter, buy 1/4 each of the next three weeks. Does that not help?
Thank Jay, sounds good to me. I am about to try this strategy during September.  Cool

I see again green on my Bitcoin ticker widget app
Also have the BTC price showing on the face of my watch.

I still hate you, but, decided to unignore you, because, like, "Recovering former angry guy" sorta thing.

Toxic can give me ole taint a proper tongue-banging, anytime tho.

JJG I've come to attain cosmic harmony with completely ignoring anything he produces. My brain has evolved to the point where it's developed a JJG-blocker for quoted text.

Life is pretty good right now, all things considering.

Still concerned with increasing violence in Dallas, tho.

Well, yeah. The sooner it moons, the sooner Rick can retire, and we can start living happily ever.

Rick is retiring "soon" irrespective of BTC price, but, like, if corn was $25k right now, Rick would be all like "See ya !" and rage-quit.

Still concerned with increasing violence in Dallas, tho.

I didn't know they've had 100 days of protests, too. They must just generally not be as exciting as the Portland protests, for the most part. Except for today:

https://twitter.com/Central_Track/status/1302337914228047877

I dunno Bob, if you wanna have a gun, all the more power to you. I'm not gonna disparage people for choosing to own a gun. Sometimes it seems like the smart thing to do.

But the guys who are the quickest to pull their guns out in a situation have the smallest dicks.

Not going by first hand knowledge or a scientific study or anything, that's just my sensible conclusion guess.

Don't get me wrong; I just want to stay home, grill, and play video-games for the rest of my life. But if organized mobs start marching in our part of the suburbs where we are, things will have devolved to a very bad point.

I don't go seeking any trouble at all. Only would want to defend my property, along with the rest of the community militia.

I guess I'm talking about absolute worst case scenario, that I hope never plays out, and this stuff just ends up collecting dust in the closet, sort of thing.

With the elections coming up, I'm reading reports that are beginning to scare me.

America is in a really bad place right now, sadly.

Rather be prepared for worst case scenario.

Very strange times we are living through.

EDIT: Also, we genuinely enjoy target shooting at the ranges. It's a lot of fun, working on improving my pistol aim. I admire the peer group we have, for their skill, when we go practice. Rifles are just easy-mode, but I'm still not pleased with my pistol performance. Maybe Rick and I can take up competitive sport shooting in our retirement years.

God Bless America.

Looks to me like the $1,000/btc and below price levels need more testing. I'm just telling ya'll the truth. I could see maybe bitcoin long term stable in the $200-$500 range after a lot of faffing about.

If we do go down there, $975 looks like some good support

I still hate you, but,

eh join the club. I hate me too for what I did to you. I did defend it for a few minutes before you departed, but soon came to some sense, and have not and will not defend it since, because obviously cannot. Grossly stupid of me, I am truly sorry.

Bitcoin Core version 0.20.1 is now available from:

https://bitcoincore.org/bin/bitcoin-core-0.20.1/

This minor release includes various bug fixes and performance improvements, as well as updated translations.

Please report bugs using the issue tracker at GitHub:

https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/issues

To receive security and update notifications, please subscribe to:

https://bitcoincore.org/en/list/announcements/join/

How to Upgrade
If you are running an older version, shut it down. Wait until it has completely shut down (which might take a few minutes in some cases), then run the installer (on Windows) or just copy over /Applications/Bitcoin-Qt (on Mac) or bitcoind/bitcoin-qt (on Linux).

Upgrading directly from a version of Bitcoin Core that has reached its EOL is possible, but it might take some time if the data directory needs to be migrated. Old wallet versions of Bitcoin Core are generally supported.

Compatibility
Bitcoin Core is supported and extensively tested on operating systems using the Linux kernel, macOS 10.12+, and Windows 7 and newer. Bitcoin Core should also work on most other Unix-like systems but is not as frequently tested on them. It is not recommended to use Bitcoin Core on unsupported systems.

From Bitcoin Core 0.20.0 onwards, macOS versions earlier than 10.12 are no longer supported. Additionally, Bitcoin Core does not yet change appearance when macOS “dark mode” is activated.

Known Bugs
The process for generating the source code release (“tarball”) has changed in an effort to make it more complete, however, there are a few regressions in this release:

The generated configure script is currently missing, and you will need to install autotools and run ./autogen.sh before you can run ./configure. This is the same as when checking out from git.

Instead of running make simply, you should instead run BITCOIN_GENBUILD_NO_GIT=1 make.

Notable changes
Changes regarding misbehaving peers
Peers that misbehave (e.g. send us invalid blocks) are now referred to as discouraged nodes in log output, as they’re not (and weren’t) strictly banned: incoming connections are still allowed from them, but they’re preferred for eviction.

Furthermore, a few additional changes are introduced to how discouraged addresses are treated:

Discouraging an address does not time out automatically after 24 hours (or the -bantime setting). Depending on traffic from other peers, discouragement may time out at an indeterminate time.

Discouragement is not persisted over restarts.

There is no method to list discouraged addresses. They are not returned by the listbanned RPC. That RPC also no longer reports the ban_reason field, as "manually added" is the only remaining option.

Discouragement cannot be removed with the setban remove RPC command. If you need to remove a discouragement, you can remove all discouragements by stop-starting your node.

Notification changes
-walletnotify notifications are now sent for wallet transactions that are removed from the mempool because they conflict with a new block. These notifications were sent previously before the v0.19 release, but had been broken since that release (bug #18325).

PSBT changes
PSBTs will contain both the non-witness utxo and the witness utxo for segwit inputs in order to restore compatibility with wallet software that are now requiring the full previous transaction for segwit inputs. The witness utxo is still provided to maintain compatibility with software which relied on its existence to determine whether an input was segwit.

0.20.1 change log

GUI
19097 Add missing QPainterPath include (achow101)
19059 update Qt base translations for macOS release (fanquake)
Build system
19152 improve build OS configure output (skmcontrib)
19536 qt, build: Fix QFileDialog for static builds (hebasto)
