Recognizing Revolutionary Potential, China Encourages Bitcoin Mining In SichuanThis episode displays the power that Bitcoin has to radically transform economic systems in practice. Perhaps due to the pandemic, these miners are now being recognized for the real muscle they can bring to the Sichuan Province’s bustling economy, and the possibilities seem to only be expanding from here. This development can spell interesting things for the future of Bitcoin adoption worldwide. https://www.nasdaq.com/articles/recognizing-revolutionary-potential-china-encourages-bitcoin-mining-in-sichuan-2020-09-14"With the highest rates of bitcoin mining per capita, miners in the area have seen electricity prices as low as one cent per kilowatt hour."

Spread the word around, King just turned five digits old, in all his glory.
#haiku
We may never be able to purchase BTC for less than 5 digits again, ever. You heard it here, first. #nohomoFurthermore, I am not even clear if the various (perhaps 5-ish clusters, give or take 1 cluster) short-term sinkenings below 5 digits between 9/3 and 9/8 would have "officially" counted as sub 5 digits, since the BTC price never did close any daily candle below 5 digits. In other words, if no daily candle had closed below 5 digits, did below 5 digits even happen? #justasking As I type this post, I get an eery feeling that I am about to witness supra $10,600 in the near future, aka soon tm #justsaying ridiculous thought cheap coins here and there, ten fold in just fifteen months #haikuI am a bit confused about the ambiguity of the nostradamus wannabe-ism(s) within your haiku. Would you be suggesting (or would I say wannabe soothsaying?) that BTC prices are going to be around 10x higher in 15 months, or would you be suggesting that we are going to be able to purchase corn for 10x cheaper in 15 months? I am thinking the former rather than the later, but seems to me that your wordiology could reasonably be interpreted in either direction.

I want to publicly thank proudhon, for being who he/she is, always original, always there to cheer us up. WO wouldn't be the same without you. Keep up the good work and be sure to provide your analysis of bitcoin price action. Just make sure it's confirmed before you post. This is very important. Never post unconfirmed data, as this can lead to CGFMs*, and we don't want those in WO.
Thanks again hon.

Sometimes you haiku. Other times your ass gets haiku'ed. Regardless, I hodl.
Pfiou. I'm more of a small tits kind of guy but she wears them well! Alas, I need 100k BTC to just get 'invited' to a party where there are enough 'rich guys' to even have such 'fantasy women' show up!..sure... I still would not have a shot..but..hey, at least then someone looking like her might 'talk to me'. Whereas now, if I was to approach to ask directions, w/o such a party invite, I'd get maced and arrested for 'stalking' or some such. (sheesh) Anyway, little steps BTC Hoard/HODL...little steps....soon! damn, looked in the mirror that is a sh*t load of BTC at a 100k price tag and the odds are still long! Brad If/when I am rich screwing a few girls like that would be nice for sure, but I don't want to live with a gold digger. Of course not. None of us would want to settle down with any kind of girl like that. Surely, it wouldn't be good.

[important message embedded in an image]
need to decentralise mining pools. right fucking now
[important links] Damn, V8s, important message posted while I was writing long thing. The deeper problem is ASICs. Special-purpose hardware can be controlled on the supply side. What happens if mining hardware requires a licence to purchase? What, you think they won’t go that far to prevent terrorist laundering and money financing?
I am in Bitcoin because it is more or less our last hope. I intended to write of this recently... I actually don’t believe in much of the maximalist economic stuff. Yes, Bitcoin has long-term fundamentals and will increase in value. No, I don’t buy that it will become a “world reserve currency”; I know this is impossible, but I would like to know what Hal Finney would think of the overall Bitcoin situation, exchanges, forks, asics farms, long shorts, bets He was WAAAAAY clearer on his basic positions that Satoshi seemed to be, and he also saw more deeply into the future I think. He saw the whole decentralized censorship resistant quality to be important enough that I believe it was CLEAR that he would have been a small block supporter (I think that argument is harder to make for Satoshi, but it is trivially easy for HF, posts here reflect it) and I think if you read his posts to this forum you will see him making small block arguments. On thing I am interested in that he foresaw that is STILL ahead of the curve as far as the community goes is the need for banks. He saw (before anyone and even before most of us now) that existing banks, bitcoin banks, and existing payment rails would continue to be in use as this tech evolved. He saw that bitcoin was a settlement layer before that was a thing for the rest of us. Man, I REALLY wish he was still here. He would be such a clear voice of reason, I believe.

A.Pompliano talked Jim Cramer into investing 1% of his portfolio into bitcoin. https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/383-jim-cramer-becomes-a-bitcoin-bull/id1434060078Pompliano plans to release a new podcast episode on Monday, 14th September, to feature how he managed to convince Cramer.
Cramer is one of the most respected and recognized individuals in the financial media sector, hosting the famous “Mad Money” show on CNBC media company.
Bitcoin Investment Hopes Rise
Cramer’s relationship with the top cryptocurrency has been quite erratic. In the past three years, he has been sending mixed signals concerning Bitcoin. In June 2017, Cramer claimed that Bitcoin’s price could hit $1 million. But he has also been critical, calling Bitcoin an "outlaw currency".
When Bitcoin was approaching its all-time high of $20,000 in December 2017, Cramer made a prediction that the launch of Bitcoin Futures by Chicago-based Cboe Global Markets Inc., would “annihilate” the largest cryptocurrency.
After Bitcoin fell below $6,000 in August 2018, Cramer said that the tide had turned against the cryptocurrency. He added, “I’m not saying its time has passed but there is a notion that the sun seems to be setting.

Man, I REALLY wish he was still here. He would be such a clear voice of reason, I believe.
As an amusing thought experiment, imagine that Bitcoin is successful and becomes the dominant payment system in use throughout the world. Then the total value of the currency should be equal to the total value of all the wealth in the world. Current estimates of total worldwide household wealth that I have found range from $100 trillion to $300 trillion. With 20 million coins, that gives each coin a value of about $10 million.
So the possibility of generating coins today with a few cents of compute time may be quite a good bet, with a payoff of something like 100 million to 1! Even if the odds of Bitcoin succeeding to this degree are slim, are they really 100 million to one against? Something to think about...
Hal https://www.mail-archive.com/cryptography@metzdowd.com/msg10152.htmlSince I have been here I have tried to document myself with everything related to Finney, this quote is from Jan-2009 (satoshi/hal), the vision of the future that this person had for Bitcoin is amazing.
