Self-Custody is a right. Say no to"Non-custodial"

Jay, I am writing another reply to you.  This first:

Modification of terms:  I say that there is also at least one other PM, in addition to the one to Wilhelm (which I did not know about).

Accruing evidence of habitual PM-begging.

I believe that it may well be acceptable to describe some contents and context of PMs.. but it is generally not a good practice to either disclose them or offer to expose them.. and I am not sure if the fact that such PMs might break forum rules would be enough because there is already a remedy for that, which is to hit the report button within the PM.

It is generally not a good practice, as a matter of etiquette and common decency.  I am deeply sensitive to the privacy of good-faith correspondents, with whom I am mutually engaged.

That generality does not apply to unsolicited requests for money—i.e., beggar-spam.  Especially not from a random stranger.  (It also does not apply to personal attacks and harassment from trolls, etc.)

Please also remember that I didn’t just suddenly start getting PMs dragged out in public.  I started with what you say: “describe some contents and context of PMs”.  I briefly noted that Dabs had a history of begging for money in PMs.  goldkingcoiner lashed out at me, insulted me, smeared me as a liar—and he demanded evidence.  Well, that last part is reasonable enough!  I am a big believer in going by the evidence.

My word has been challenged.  I called on Dabs to come clean; he has not done so, and at this point, I think it may be too late.  If I seek to establish that anyone who called me a liar is, in fact, lying about me, then any and all extant Dabs begging PMs are the evidence.

And—I know you are aware of this, Jay; but for the n00bs, I should make it clear that posting PMs is not against forum rules.

Re: Publicly posting PMs
There is no restriction against it. PM = Personal Message, not Private Message.
Compare "private interview" to "personal interview" or "private locker" to "personal locker". Something private isn't expected to be made public, but something personal is only owned by or associated with a single person, not necessarily with a strong guarantee of privacy.

Fair enough... there may well be times in which either personal messages are posted or referred to in terms of some kind of evidence of character or conduct.... which might even delve into fuzzy areas of whether some forum rules might have been broken or there are attempts to use reputation in questionable ways.. even though raising the contents of PMs as an issue might not be the go to first step in regards to some kind of a dispute.. .. as you have already conceded that

I doubt that we have a whole hell of a lot of tolerance for getting into too much reputation disputes in this thread, and there have been times in which solicitation has been allowed here (or looked the other way)..and so sometimes the line between soliciting on behalf of a member or some charity or something that might be "acceptable" might not be clear.. but surely sometimes it can end up going too far... and gosh a lot of us are likely feeling tough times current..... some worse than others for sure.. . even though maybe some folks have good intentions they might get tricked into some of these kinds of matters.. I frequently tend to attempt to not get involved.. but even that.. maybe there could be obligations to say something from time to time..

Also I would rather talk about king daddy too.. but king daddy seems to be kind of "on the ropes" at the moment, so even my lil precious is not a very exciting topic.. hard to find silver linings in overshooting and seemingly never ending times like these.. except maybe some froth is being fleshed out.. uncomfortable as it feels as it remains ongoing, persistent and insistent...

Consider selling 20-25% of my Bitcoin. Anyone else? I have this great reset theory and now they introduced the digital USD. Its going into that direction. I start to be worried BTC will end up like Luna, once the panic kicks in? Dumped to 18.6K and nobody is buying WTF.

I am in since 2013 and ever since holded BTC. Never took profits. Never sold. I would go nuts leaving this game without a cent in my pockets after 9 years Cheesy

All these people writing only an idiot would sell at these levels. I remember people were saying the same at 69K while talking about 300K.

Is this a joke?

I panic sold in my 1st cycle and learned it the hard way back then...  But you are in your 3rd, so I'd say what the fuck are you talking about?

But maybe everyone has to have the experience to sell near the bottom (73% down). So if you feel you must sell here, do it. But make sure to buy back in on the way up.. which is the hard part

You need to learn how to properly use the ignore feature. Tongue

I think I shut him up on his first post here.

from 20500 to 19000 seems like microstrategy liquidation , anybody here know any news about them , follow the sound crying CEO.

Ignored, see how easy that is. Smiley

Thanks for the pro tip   Tongue
For about 9 years I read the WO but I found myself to prefer it pure and unfiltered...
Sometimes I really get teased to use the ignore button though. Like when reading MSTR liquidation fud for the thousands time...

Good morning Bitcoinland.

Another day, another leg down... currently $18862USD/$24572CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

Still waiting to see how this goes. What a week.
___

It looks like I may have to pass on the house I was planning on buying. I'd rather forfeit my $70k deposit than sell another $1.3m+ at these prices.

When I signed the purchase-sale agreement, Bitcoin was worth over $40kUSD. I started to DCA my BTC liquidation and was about a third of the way there after selling another 5BTC last week (June 6-10). I planned to sell another 3 coins on Monday and more again on Friday (yesterday) but backed off when I saw the dip. I consulted my main OTC connections who said they were also suspending business until things stabilized a bit. Now it's almost a week later and there's no rebound in sight.

The house is what I'd been looking for... ideal downtown location, income potential (AAA tenants in place), fully renovated, rooftop garden, etc...
but I'm not going to gut my BTC nest egg to buy it. I don't want to ever have a mortgage again. I learned that lesson over 30 years ago when my cheap 6.5% mortgages jumped to almost 20%. I laugh at kids who bellyache about single-digit inflation. I swore I'd only ever pay cash. Credit is a scam.

My BTC stash is still enough to live happily ever after. I want to keep it that way.

On the bright side, you’ll likely be able to pick that house up for less a year from now

I know that must have been a hard decision, but good on you to make the right choice for you. I'm sure you'll get another chance to own such a property in the future.

If it is any consolation, we had to do a similar thing. We punted on a major expansion project on the house that we had been planning for two years now. My SO and I said the same thing: "No way that we are going to sell any btc at these low prices to finance that project." And the irony? After waiting all this time, our builder just finally freed himself up to do the work. Lol. Luckily we hadn't signed any contracts with him yet. He'll likely be a little disappointed that we are not moving forward with it right now.

We'd rather live free forever than sacrifice our future over a 'want', not a need. Life is all about hard choices.

Off topic (on topic is depressing)  Pro tip for today...
When ordering at a fast food joint and the server has a name tag like Chianti, Janelle, Phelipi, or Erez, (or some such nonsense),
has permanent, illegible bumper stickers plastered all over both arms,
is sporting giant hula hoop earrings, and you are hard pressed to tell what biological parts they are packing.....
....check your order before leaving.

A pretty good time to live Cheesy
Check your portfolio to see if you need to add in a big discount. It would be a pity if this was allowed to go away because indeed while waiting for the strongest support there, there is nothing wrong with increasing the load little by little.

Area of interest upcoming... One potential bottom.  Volume is looking OK for it, but on a Saturday?  Meh?  Plus I think it gets worse.

But fibs from covid low to the ATH we have the 78.6 mark @ 17730 - 17901depending on exchange... if not a bottom we will see a bounce... might already be in really.  My fantasy bids are 18100 and 18200.
