CANT STOP.............WONT STOP!!!! FIDDLING w PCI Powered Risers and Server PSU in Preparations for Picos ****************** OFFICE SERVER PSU and PICOs ************** In order for use the Server PSU in my office, I needed a quieter FAN solution. The other fan solution using Finksy or HAWKFISH007 fans are a no brainer for the Garage or Shed but for the office, I need to have it quiet so I can still handle my Day Job's conference calls. Playing with different FAN options (LED FANs get bonus points). Since the office is much cooler than the Garage, my guess is 2 x 75 CFM fan is sufficient for low to average load. I still want to power 3-4 Rigs per 4KW bundle. However, things are now changed once I go PICO route as 99% of the power will be handled by the server PSU vs split load with the baby PSU. This means it may get hotter than usual. So will have to test to know for sure if that is sufficient. Can you see my level of EXCITEMENT when I can cheaply SOURCE GOLD RATED or even PLATINUM Rated pair of server PSU and share it with many rigs to help keep cost down? Mark AZ is also using the IBM 2500W server PSU but he use them individually with a small breakout board with Pico. I will add his rig setup in the Sexy Rigs section on Front page. VERY QUIET NOW. HAWKFISH007 have these PCI powered riser now. They are by FAR the highest quality RISER ever. This should have been how risers are made from the beginning. They also come with 6pin to SATA connection so you can use with normal ATX PSU. The Capacity are bigger. The card is heavier and the cable is very solid, it won't be easily disconnected and catch on fire like the cheapy old riser MOLEX to SATA. Now I'm just waiting for my last part of the PICO setup. The PCI to Barrel adapter coming tomorrow. I bought splitters so that cabling will be neater and SEXIER. This also help reduce the valuable PCI SLOT used so I can power more rigs per 4KW bundle.

Good plan Cryptowatcher. Let's make something sexy for the community. I am liking your idea, you got my support 100%. Would be happy to order the supply for you to help push the project along for a Sexier Pico cabling design.
On different news - Eth cool down a bit this morning and I decided it's probably a good idea to take profit and convert to Bitcoins and ride that wave. Also work up to a rig that was down from a MSI RX470 being shorted. EVGA PSU are very smart, if there's a short. It will not power back on until you remove the power connection to that GPU. So I have to isolate which one and in order to get the PSU to turn back on, I have to remove the MB cable and plug it back. After that I take the shorted GPU and I bring it to my Corsair to power it up and end it's Life fast as that's when the GPU WILL sizzle and goes to smoke. After that it's RMA time.

@ GMPoison - 600 AMP to be EXACT.but I lowered the Main for the Garage to 150AMP. Garage - 200 AMP - Wire rated for max of 175 AMP but Electrician kept arguing. I had another Electrician confirmed and drop the Main breaker to 150AMP to be safe. Outdoor - 2 x 200 AMP Siemens Copper bus as listed in the front page. Picture of the Garage panel installing the Eaton whole house surge protector. All 3 Panels have the Eaton whole house Surge protector inside. Outdoor panel @ m1n1ngP4d4w4n - Reelen have his GF doing the cabling and connection for his server Rack. The picture of the Sapphire Server Rig that looks good was done by his GF not him. Hahaha

Anyone mining DASH with AMD or NVIDIA? How does that compare to the Baikalminer ASIC miner? A friend just brought that conversation up today and I know nothing about mining DASH but it's smoking hot in prices right now.

I've been reading this forum for months now and I finally created an account just to say thank you to Nhan and everybody else that has contributed here. I've been running 10 rigs for a year now as a trial and am getting ready to scale up to +- 60 rigs in August. There is so much useful and practical information in this single thread that I put my entire life on hold to read through it all. There is one critical piece of information that I can't seem to find anywhere though. I need a BTC address to send a donation. Writing and moderating this thread has literally saved me weeks of research, drastically cut down my costs on building rigs (mostly via Finksy who I'm planning to contact once I see his design for Server PSU only rigs) and countless amounts of time and money by allowing me to avoid some of the pitfalls you did, and I would have, made. It seems only fair to return some of my savings to you.
Thanks to all. You guys are the $hit. -TBT

Tried to find those risers you said are sold by HAWKFISH007? can't find the thread? Happen to have a link to those risers? Thanks

@ bittawm and WhyMe - Thanks. This ASIC does interest me a lot due to it's low Power usage and high current income. However DASH just got smoking HOT, if it cool down and go back like the way XMR cool down, the ROI people may not be as exciting as it is now. I'm still semi interest, may have to look further and see if it's even worth the risk as the 30 days warranty is so pathetic. @TheBottomTurle - First, thanks for the kind words. No donations necessary, just pay it forward. I'm very Lazy by nature but I felt the need to share as when I first started doing Bitcoin mining, no one really had much experience mining in a Garage or Shed. Everywhere I turned to to ask, they either don't know or advise me that it's not going to work. I spent tens of thousands on stupid design changes, etc. Hawkfish, myself and a few other friends literally lost hundreds of dollars if not close to a thousand on crap risers that almost burn down our rigs. This is when Hawkfish said Enough is Enough and decided to sell risers. The best way to say thanks, is by supporting our community and VENDORs that Support US well. Very happy to hear that you're going to be up to 60 rigs by Summer. This means you're going to be TheFLYINGTurtle vs TheBottomTurtle with your 60 rigs!!! We're here if you need anything or have any questions. Here is Hawkfish Amazon Link https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06WRX86YN/ref=cm_sw_r_oth_api_s7qRybC027P01If you do order from now until end of next week. Just P.M hawkfish007 to show the order # along with your PayPal address. Say Nhan Do sent ya. I'll have Hawkfish send a $10 bonus to you making each Riser effectively close to $6 while getting Super Amazon shipping speed. He still prefers Ebay over Amazon due to slim profit margin but I said I want Amazon because I can PURSE his stuff for cheaper and FASTER shipping later. =) All he ask is that you guys leave a 5 Star review. P.S As stated in the first post. I get no Kickbacks or incentives to pushing any products or referrals, so you can trust that it have to be good when I put my STAMP of approval on it.

The BIOSTAR TB85 is a great Board and Great alternative to the SOLD out ASROCK H81 BTC Pro. No Issues getting it to recognize 6 GPU, no drivers needed for Network card. Simplemining.net as well as Windows work like a champ. CPU slot is 4 vs 8 Pin. The Biostar 7 Slot GPU Z170GT7 Racing is a SEXY Board. I really really want it to work but it didn't. It's actually a very stupid card. All Looks and no go. Max is 4 GPU. You have to flash the BIOS in order to see some CPU models. How do they expect us to do that? Have a spare CPU just for that? I bought 15 of them, I may only keep 1 for a ROM / Test station. Why would they tease us with 7 Slots but only 4 are designed to work? That's like going to an ALL YOU CAN EAT Buffett, just to be told It's ALL YOU CAN EAT, NOT YOU CAN EAT ALL!!!

But I3. 7xxx I5. 7xxx I7 7xxx All need to flash mobo. Which means you need a spare CPU if you have new CPUs. Or you just buy the older CPUs.
