Right haven´t looked at the slots... so 3 max Well I know you could stack almost everything.. but this case looks clean / nice and has got an cooling solution build in.

But the ability to pull out anything from in bw the stack is the what is needed, just like the cases in the server racks.

MB, GPUs, how did you attach the gpus etc?! yeah sure , MB : h81 pro btc rev 1 or rev 2 GPU : sapphire nitro and nitro + 470/480 4gb or 8gb (total 36) Riser : pci express 1x to 16x rev 005 Psu : 5 leipa maxgold 1000W, enermax platinum 1700W, Leipa platinum 1700W I screw the riser directly on the shelf . One shelf for MB (2 by shelf) and PSU and one shelf for GPU (12 by shelf)

Wait! I just found something that might be better: http://www.silverstonetek.com/product.php?pid=488- Stackable - ATX - 12.2 inch gpus - fans included (well they´re probably weak but at least they already thought about a cooling solution / air flow...) Right now I´m investigating further... (how many gpus will fit etc...) Only a board like the Biostar GT7 which has 4 physical slots could work in a case like this. And this case has 7 PCIe slots so a maximum of 3 cards. You need something with 8+ slots. And dont worry about stackable. lol .. no. Tyan case and mobo , 8 GPU just fine.

A question to all the ones using server PSU... How do you power your pci-e x1 to usb risers? Do you use some kind of PCI-e 6 pin to 2xSATA extender? So, a server PSU with x8 PCI-e 6 pin connectors is not for 4GPUs, it is for 3 GPU plus risers..
I'm thinking into buying a really cheap refurbished FSP 500W ATX psu for mobo+cpu+16x GPU, and a server PSU for every GPU with a riser, But I can't see how to power risers only with server PSU without wasting so many connectors. PCI-e 6 pin are made for 150W max, aren't them? So for 75W max from PCI-e connector, that should be a PCI-e 6pin to 2xSATA for 2 risers.

bud there are now risers that have a 6 pin pci express plug housing instead of the molex ones, 6 pin powered risers are much better

So, I've been on the hunt for a good MB to do 6+ GPUs with. Awhile back on a hunch I bought the ASUS Z270A PRIME -- 7 PCIe slots and two m.2 slots - I thought maybe I could get 9 GPUs on it. But I was restricted to 4 with the bios that shipped with it. At this point, however, I have gotten 7 GPUs on it-- the max I have space for right now. Sharing the details here in case it is useful for someone else: Here's what I found: -- Had to flash the BIOS. Board shipped with 5.0.0 and I updated it to the latest (7.0.0 I think)-- this is necessary to get the "Above 4g decoding" option. Which appears on the boot menu in the bios. -- PCIe switched to Gen2 -- Didn't make other changes. WARNING WARNING WARNING When I flashed the BIOS the onboard network hardware stopped working with linux. this caused a bunch of problems. I had to run this utility to refresh the network drivers ROM to make things work: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/19186Current setup for this board- -- Ubuntu 16.04 server -- 7x NVIDIA 1070 8GB Cards Working fine. (And about %10 more hash under linux than under Windows.)

Use PCIe risers that come with 6 pin connectors instead of molex/sata (they are availible now) Use 1X2 PCIe power cables for the Server PSU, oir get PCIe power splitters, and use the two plugs per cable in GPU Power and Riser Power, thus powering One Card from one power slot.

You don't really need permanent partitioning. Hot air rise so even if you use TARP to partition without impacting structures, you can see huge improvements.
I agree with that, tarp partitioning will work nicely for a cheap & easy method for non-permanent partitionning

Has anyone with the Biostar TB85 had any issues getting 6 rx 480 8gb cards working out of the box? Seems the 2 middle pci lanes for me dont work and I am unsure if its a hardware issue or a bios config issue.

You probably have a bad board. I have that board, no issues with 6 GPUs. Many others have it too. Return it and get a new one.
P.S TB85 is available on Newegg.com again. Get it FAST before they sell out again.

Thanks, yea I am gonna RMA it, also just picked up 2 more on newegg. Have another question about this board, I never come across a board with molex power directly on the board, whats the purpose and is it needed?

Many boards have it. Some are required when you want to power 3 or more GPU such as the ASROCK H97 Anniversary. The ASROCK H81 BTC Pro have it but it's optional as you can hit the Letter N when it warns you and it won't prompt you to plug in the molex anymore. For the TB85, you won't need to use it. It's for back in the days when people were using non powered risers which can put too much load on the MB and fry them.

*********** TIME TO BUILD ********************* HAPPY DAYS!!! FINKSY STUFF ARRIVED! * Lotsa 4KW PSU * 20 Picos * Lotsa HURRICANE FANS * Lotsa PCI RISERS! * Lotsa Cables * Lotsa FUN!!!!!!!!! The PICO is designed for Miners. Long enough EPS cable, only 4PIN is needed even for 8Pin EPS for the CPU. You can use the one on the Pico or from the custom cable Finksy provide. His cables are delayed so I dont have to show. So I just use the 4Pin from the Pico. It have MOLEX, SATA, everything you need!!! I love it. He will also have the EPS cable split with the 2.5MM Barrel cable to power the Pico but that is delayed. Cryptowatcher is making me some as a backup plan. Check it out!! Time to GO SHOPPING FOR DA BUILD!!! Get the HD Man to do some Cutting! Check out this new sexy LGA 1151 MSI Enthusiast MB! But will it support 7 GPU or will it disappoint like the PRo Carbon even though there's a thread that actually shows how to get it to see 7 GPU but it didn't work. SEXY!
