https://www.deepdotweb.com/2016/01/23/bitcoin-playing-an-increased-role-in-crime-europol-says/

Would you believe that the existence of bitcoin has increased the number of criminality in  some countries in the world. This is the issue that was being thrown by the EuroPol and the UK Metropolitan Police. According to them bitcoin has played a huge role on the increasing criminality in their area. They added that a huge number of cybercriminals were using bitcoins in their activities.

This just shows that as bitcoin develops both advantages and disadvantages will tag along.
This what the government afraid for, that people use bitcoin for there criminal activities such as selling drugs. Maybe that's why the government don't want to make bitcoin legalize because of this people. We should remove this people for the sake of our bitcoins.

Before the introduction of bitcoin cybercrime exist usually western union money transfer was used in money laundering, however it is better to equip INTER POL with more sophiscated tools to check the nefarious activities of this cybercrimes rather than blaming increasing cybercrimes on bitcoins.

Even a terrorist has found a bitcoin weaknesses and used it to transfer their funds. People have tried to ban the technology they do not understand or what they think is harmful to them. I think in everything you can find crime, if you look good.

I also heard that. Even many people who complain that bitcoin is just for criminal activity users. I become frustrated that criminal activities can be linked with Bitcoin. So, this currency encouraged criminality? Could be as Bitcoin is anonymous it is a tool of criminals most choice.

That's correct, in bitcoin their criminal activities is enhanced. They are adopting to modern way of sending/receiving payments. Take a look that "wannacry" online extortion, ransomware, they are using bitcoin for ransom.

Yes maybe because bitcoin use is so anonymous and you cannot tell who uses bitcoins or not.  And for that reason, criminals was encouraged to use bitcoin for their illegal activity.  Also it is so convenient and no trace of whatever things you bought.

In fact, we can not stop crime and money laundering. Criminals are not stupid people, they are complacent with their communications and use it to harm others, criminals are always looking for and using anything, bitcoin is an example, Although bitcoins bring a lot of benefits to our lives, they also benefit criminals. A clean currency is stained.

This argument again? Bitcoin is just a currency. Criminality will always exist. Even if they ban bitcoin criminals just move to cash.
I don't think any government really blames bitcoin or any other payment method for criminality. This argument keeps popping up all the time, but it makes little sense.

But we can't deny the fact that criminals do use Bitcoin in their transactions or they directly still Bitcoin. Also when you really look at the recent investment scams which are called "HYIPs" you will see that Bitcoin is their main mode of payment or is accepted to the investment scam. There are different kinds of criminals although not seeing it physically they exist online and they are really taking advantage of new members of Bitcoin users which they fool them by sending their money to those wallet addresses.

Even if it does not make sense, it is on of the most popular arguments against bitcoin and one that you are going to hear more and more as people try to enter bitcoin while others try to discourage them, and this is one of the arguments they are going to use to try to get their way, it is sad but I think an important amount of people are going to stay out of bitcoin because of these false arguments.

bitcoin is like any double edged weapon; u can use it for a good purpose or bad one. it depends on the person using it. after all, bitcoin is a currency that you can use for charity activities or to pay someone to commit a crime Wink

Bitcoin and other crypto-currencies are playing an increasing role in all criminal activities, not only cybercrime
Technology is in continuous development, offering new possibilities for cyber-criminals but also to law enforcement agencies that are investigating their criminal activities. Those who use money as payment to drugs, gun smuggling can use Bitcoin to pay and remain unknown. This is certainly the reverse side of bitcoin, but at the same time I can not say if theoretically to exclude the possibility of a connection between crime and bitcoin, then there will be no crime at all.

No, considering that first-world countries always had methods for conducting TX for criminals and it was never an issue, from cash to bank transfers and the fact everyone can view a bitcoin transaction is better than unpublished ones which can't be viewed except with a judge order.

Bitcoin did not do that in my opinion, considering it being most likely that the same people would be doing the same illegal acts with or without the existence of bitcoin and crime generally never suffered lack of methods to pay and get paid.
People like blaming the coin rather than blaming the ones actually in fault: the criminals.

Yes i think there is a relation because of bitcoin nature as an anonymous currency usable online and offline it might have increased some online crimes like cross-continent drug dealing and with no ID's and evidence.  And so some criminals had the idea of using bitcoins to use bitcoin in their crimes.

I don't agree with that because even before the advent of bitcoin, have they been able to curb crime, they devise ways to discourage movement of cash, still they could not stop crime. They come again and said any money above $10000 is money laundering yet they couldn't stop crime. What I see is someone trying to find a way to give bitcoin a bad name is other to slow down its process and popularity among the populace.

We should accept it that because of the anonymity of bitcoin we can't prevent having a bad image for bitcoin because of that feature it is being use in the black market to transact different illegal transactions like buying illegal drugs, firearms, services and so on and that is because of the anonymity and it means that they can't be traced so i think we can't do much thing about different negative thoughts about it.

Well of course there will be bitcoin in criminal actions. It is perfect way of paying. Paying with Bitcoin gives person anonymous identity, and that is perfect for black market and criminal actions. But if you ask me it is same with fiat currency so... But to believe that bitcoin is responsible for increased number of criminality, well i doubt that. People will always find way to scam other people. Bitcoin is innocent Tongue .
