i do believe that one of the very reason why bitcoin become popular during its early stages was due to the support or usage obtained from criminal activitues.
We cant deny the fact that bitcoin has been by criminal since they have also seen the advantage of using it to conceal their transactions.

It would be naive to think criminal activity wasn't a major factor back in the day, but now most of the users of bitcoin are traders and users which want to earn money in a legal way, this is nothing new, a significant number of new technologies are adopted first by the military or by criminals so I don't think bitcoin is unique in that aspect but thank god we've left those years behind us.
Everything starts at the bottom I guess since there where less people using bitcoin back then they saw it as an opportunity to use it as a medium on making their illegal transactions but still there are people using it for themselves. Especially now a days that earning bitcoin is a great source of income a lot of people are engaging to use this and they cannot really identify who is using it for illegal transactions because you reamain anonymous through out the process.

The Bitcoin software, network, and concept is called "Bitcoin" with a capitalized "B". Bitcoin currency units are called "bitcoins" with a lowercase "b" -- this is often abbreviated BTC.

Technology always advances and with the criminal art. It's unfortunate but technology only brings more of this in addition to progress

i doubt it.
criminal activities were happening even before bitcoin. for example the ransomware that everyone is talking about these days have been around a very long time before bitcoin was created!

and besides since bitcoin doesn't offer real anonymity it can not really help the criminals as much as things like hard cash helps them.

You are right, There are already criminals before but with bitcoins, It may increase further more since this is a digital currency and everyone can use it, They can buy anything online even those people who wants to create illegal transactions and that is the reason why some government are avoiding bitcoins to circulate in their country.

https://www.deepdotweb.com/2016/01/23/bitcoin-playing-an-increased-role-in-crime-europol-says/

Would you believe that the existence of bitcoin has increased the number of criminality in  some countries in the world. This is the issue that was being thrown by the EuroPol and the UK Metropolitan Police. According to them bitcoin has played a huge role on the increasing criminality in their area. They added that a huge number of cybercriminals were using bitcoins in their activities.

This just shows that as bitcoin develops both advantages and disadvantages will tag along.
Yeah, that is the problem with new technologies. Sometimes, I don't know what is wrong with security agencies, they are always left behind in terms of catching criminals and they always refer it something, it is pretty obvious that this time they blame it on bitcoin. Hmm, that's very funny!

Since the currency of the crypt is a new market, the situation in the crime regulation law can not be organized.
Since bitcoin does not create crime, I will not have any problems in the near future.

bitcoin can be used as criminal purpose. because whether you use it for good or bad work depend on you.it is not human being or it has no artificial intelligence that prevents it from bad ppurpose. it is just a digital currency. it is unfair to blame bitcoin.
but it is also true that criminals always search for the opportunity of any system for their purpose.so crime can be increased. if justice is everywhere criminals reduce then there will be no problem.
so the government  which blaming bitcoin, you may first find criminals and reduce the quantity then blame bitcoin.

Heads and tail, the two sides of each coin. In a similar manner if anything has numerous advantages then it too possess disadvantages also and the so with BTC. BTC is boon for the humanity but due to its decentralization, it often engaged in several criminal activities including serious threat like terrorism and that is the reason why several countries had complained about BTC as being use for criminal activities. So in the future centralization of BTC is very much necessary.

This is sad but it´s probably true. The biggest revolutions always have good and bad things and Bitcoin shamely is not the exception. I hope that in some years it will change, but with the current situation this trend will keep growing.

Not only was Bitcoin used for criminal activity back in the day, but that was it's main use actually. Most online drug dealers, weapon sellers and other illegal activity providers would use BTC to accept payment for their services because it offered relative anonymity and ease compared to any other method that was easier for governments/authorities to trace.

As most things that end up being accepted by society, they often end up being first used for illegal purposes. Bitcoin is not exception. It is used by crimnals to this day, although they have more recently switched over to Monero because it offers truly anonymous transactions whereas BTC is obviously only pseudo-anonymous in that if your identity is discovered your transaction history can all be traced.

Bitcoin sophistically attracted criminality as it's
internet and computer security is extremely weak. It is subject to theft, scams, and frauds, which was made easier because of its structure and lack of regulation. The very nature of Bitcoin makes fraud prevention hard, and no way to revert the transaction. This makes easy for scammers to get their money and run.

Even though Bitcoin can make it easier for criminals, it still is a perfectly good investment and form of payment. Any form of currency has illegal users, Bitcoin is no different in this regard.

Bitcoin played a certain role in the direction of increasing crime. However, this should not in any way affect the distribution of crypto currency throughout the world. Technical progress can not be stopped only on the grounds that someone will try to use certain things for criminal purposes. Virtually any items of the material world can be used for their illegal purposes. This is a problem of law enforcement bodies, which must oppose new kinds and methods of criminal actions.

It’s up to the people how they are going to use their Bitcoin money. But, sadly, some are using them for illegal transactions such as buying drugs or weapons.

Money laundering should be mentioned when we talk about criminal usage of bitcoin.

Yes of course using and holding BTC is not crime itself, but we should admit that it is often used for criminal activities, especially for money laundering and buying illegal staff.

You can not blame bitcoin for that. If there is no bitcoin then the same people will find an alternative to the bitcoin for the illegal transactions. Bitcoin is just a mode of virtual transaction and the criminality is occurring in reality. But we are ignoring the reality but blaming the virtual.

not every crime can be linked to Bitcoin but I am pretty sure every crime can be linked to Money and Gold or other precious things - will you stop using money and go back to stone age? people who think bitcoin is crime money just need to grow up because Bitcoin is a serious thing, not lollipop for kids.
