https://www.deepdotweb.com/2016/01/23/bitcoin-playing-an-increased-role-in-crime-europol-says/

Would you believe that the existence of bitcoin has increased the number of criminality in  some countries in the world. This is the issue that was being thrown by the EuroPol and the UK Metropolitan Police. According to them bitcoin has played a huge role on the increasing criminality in their area. They added that a huge number of cybercriminals were using bitcoins in their activities.

This just shows that as bitcoin develops both advantages and disadvantages will tag along.
Not only bitcoin ,anything and everything will have advantages and disadvantages, and they start growing, their advantages and disadvantages will grow along with it.It hardly takes some time to find a loophole, but to make sure that loophole will be  never found  is next to impossible. So like it or not bitcoin is getting a bad impression and we are getting a bad impression as people think that all those who use btc are criminals and nothing else.

Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

Over the years, people have engaged in criminal activities in all climes of the society even as at the time when people only valuable resources is wrist watch or glasses and the likes. Even at the present moment people still engage in all sort of criminal activities just to rob people of their resources and using bitcoin is just a way for a criminal minded individual who would use anything he lay his hands on for his selfish interest. In all bitcoin cannot be stopped to be used for these activities because entrance is not screened.

i doubt it.
criminal activities were happening even before bitcoin. for example the ransomware that everyone is talking about these days have been around a very long time before bitcoin was created!

and besides since bitcoin doesn't offer real anonymity it can not really help the criminals as much as things like hard cash helps them.

I have a normal idea about it. In world criminal activities are increasing day by day. Most criminal are used bitcoin. Actually they can not use bitcoin ,they abuse bitcoin. Now, in my country criminals are abuse bitcoin. It,s very harmful for any country. Bitcoin is a trusted site, so don,t abuse it.

I don't understand, you mean people that are criminal in your country are abusing bitcoin and can not use it? I guess what you are trying to imply is that criminals are not using bitcoin for normal good transactions and instead they use it for illegal transactions, right?
I guess that’s what he means, lol. Bitcoin is not the cause of criminal activities, because their have been such even years before Bitcoin was invented. But, I will also say that Bitcoin kinda makes things easy for them in a way.

With the decentralized functioning and the anonymous nature of bitcoin usage has been found to be an easier way for criminality. This has made a bad image for bitcoin from people who doesn't have good understanding about bitcoin and its related factors.

This is not applying only to bitcoins this can happen some other sources also and many peoples doing this already good and bad peoples in every field just saying bitcoin's anonymous nature is easier for criminality is not good

Many Idiot people using bitcoin in a bad way like buying drugs, illegal weapons and fire arms and also different organ of human body. I saw it in a site of a deep web, the payment that is using is bitcoin. That is one of the disadvantages of the bitcoin.
My friend here is blaming bitcoins to be used in the wrong way instead of the people who are misusing such asset. If you were able to access deep web, you must also be aware of that FBI and other agencies can trace such criminality as it happened with Ross. I don't know how they were able to get their hands on his private key but it happened.

Bitcoin is a very promising form of investment. This is what makes criminals commit criminals dibitcoin, some very great features in bitcoin is certainly very profitable for everyone. And this does not rule out the perpetrators of criminals will take advantage of existing features in bitcoin to make transactions for crimes they committed. The many forms of criminalization of the existence of bitcoin certainly must diwaspadi by bitcoin users, lest we lose the actions of criminals who can harm us.
Criminals are using bitcoins to perform their illegal activities basically due to the anonymity it gives to its holders. They can make large transactions and nobody can catch them so they are finally free from all the worries of getting caught. They are forgetting karma. If you do badly with others, ultimately it will return to you.

Not all criminal activities can be linked with Bitcoin
Bitcoin cannot be used with any kind of criminal activities
But we can can agree that with the use of Bitcoins, those who are into ransom has increased their chances of not blowing up their cover.
Those who use money as payment to drugs, gun smuggling can use Bitcoin to pay and remain unknown
However, not every criminal in this world are into this kind of technology, keep in mind that there are more small time criminals out there that those who are big time and small time ones prefer cash and fast money.
what if we say many cyber crime is happen due to bitcoin, just like previous days, Script of GOT was hacked by hacker and then HBO pays them $250k worth bitcoin and after then GOT's episode was hacked, and again hacker want bitcoin, so my point is why not bitcoin transaction become traceable by intelligence agencies?? if it happen then no one will blame bitcoin for criminal activities.

We have to take the bad with the good. There’s always people that are gonna take advantage of the services offered by Bitcoin by using it through illegal means. As Bitcoin continues to develop, more and more people will come to use. And we cannot choose who uses it. We just have to live with the fact that people will be people and will use Bitcoin however they like. However, we don’t have to tolerate this. We should stand against criminality sullying Bitcoin’s name and giving it a bad reputation. We should at least discourage use of Bitcoin if its use to commit crime.

Anyone who wanted to earn bigger amount of money resorts to doing illegal things.  And bitcoin is a good way or mode to send or to receive money they use for illegal activitites.  Through bitcoin there is no way that their names and identities can be traced.  For sure bitcoin is being used for illegal and criminalities.  Anyways, anyone who intends to do evil will always find a way to their evil plans.

bitcoin are anonymous thats why criminal take the advantage of it for them to be more anonymous, also many people dont want to involve in bitcoin because they think that bitcoin is just for illegal purpose. Well knowledge criminals and Millennial criminal are using bitcoin as payment for every transaction as it is not detected by government and banks. but still there are more criminals that go to old school as it is cover instant/quick and really money. Small time and Big time criminals are expanding their knowledge so they cope up with the new trend...

Well if you think thoroughly, Bitcoin does increase criminality since criminals could use bitcoins to do illegal payments as well as storing their money. This case apply to corruptors where they can buy bitcoins, buy another altcoin and mix them.

Because of certain features that's unique with it, the increase in criminality can be caused. At the same time with if calculated about the criminality caused through bitcoin the count will be much lesser than the USD which is the most used currency or asset for illegal transactions and criminal activities.

Maybe this one of the reasons that the government could not make bitcoin a legalize currency im some countries because they are afraid that bitcoin can be used to illegal activities that may increase the numbers of criminals. But if bitcoin don't have any record of cyber crimimals maybe it can be legalize by the government.

I do not think that many criminal schemes go through bitcoins. It's also possible to calculate if the case is seriously taken by the police, I think it's just that sometimes they can take instead of the usual money.

I will not be shocked if it's factual or not. Bitcoin's decentralization and anonymity attract syndicates and/or powerful people/families, to transact under the radar of the Government. Being anonymous would give them an edge to freely do their dirty works and they have total control on it, also this is an advantage towards their competitors. Plus, These syndicates are now working with advanced technology and the fact that they have access on the web they could easily adapt to a better payment and transaction system which is Bitcoin. They could manipulate it if they want to, and nothing could stop them.

A bitcoin facility that can make users anonymous is very beneficial to many, including high-ranking state officials who want to launder money, and this will be very profitable for them in many ways either through their transactions or the sending and receiving that will not be known to anyone
If Bitcoin should cease to exist tomorrow, would those corrupt officials cease to be corrupt or would the world have heard the last of crime minded people?  Bitcoin of course cannot be the reason why crimes are on the increase all across the globe and instead of looking for a scape goat, all those pointing accusing fingers at Bitcoin should rather throw their weight behind finding lasting solution for the diversed inequalities everywhere we look. Life isn't particularly fair, but some stone hearted people make it even worse,

Banks and governments specially spread opinion about what bitcoin contributes to the development of crime. This is an information war against crypto currencies. In fact, there is no data confirming this. Cash is much more anonymous than bitcoin.

criminality is an old issue a lot of people is doing illegal activities through fiat currency a well. Bitcoin is being use for a lot of wise purposes also all I want to say is that using something depends on the user that how he want to use it and how they think. If they use bitcoin for criminality it is the bad luck of the user we cannot blame bitcoin for at all so bitcoin can be use for both good and bad reasons but it does not mean bitcoin is a bad currency.
