I would really love a black wallet, with gold highlights. Something sharp and classy Wink

One Midnight Special coming up.

(I don't do classy very well - you may need to advise changes)

I use the black and gold theme for Netcoin, it looks attractive.

so here is my skins project so far - it's actually pretty cool  Smiley

Bitbar-skins.zip this is the Bitbar-qt wallet.
unzip and put where you want.

skins.zip this is the skins and images
unzip this and put the skins folder in the same place that your bitbar wallet.dat file is.

The way I designed it, anybody can make there own skin file.
just copy one of the .qss files, and edit away - remember to save it as a different name - and edit the first line (description)

the qss file is nothing more that a css file, like web sites use.  The hard part is figuring out what group -or 'thing' is called that you want to change.

This is far from done, but it is far enough along you can actually use it.

the three checkboxes on the skin page don't do anything - and may end up being scrapped.
Your settings will be kept for the next time you run the wallet.

We may have to setup a 'depository' for people to add their skin designs, that would be cool!

New BitBar wallet is cool but it wont stay in sync.It keeps falling behind everyday and when/if I get it to sync it just goes back out,is there a reason for this and why does the wallet still say the checkpoint is to old?

Thanks for any help,not trying to be negative or an ass,just reporting issues and hoping for solutions  Grin

looking at the explorer http://btb.cryptocoinexplorer.com/ I've noticed the chain stopped for several hours (like over 12 hours at a glance).
Block 167476 was the last block for several hours.
exploring the transactions on the address in block 167476 shows:
05-09-16 23:37:27   amt 0.141484
05-09-16 23:36:42   amt 0.141484
05-09-16 23:34:33   amt 0.141484
05-09-16 23:30:14   amt 0.141484
05-09-16 23:29:50   amt 0.141484
05-09-16 23:27:50   amt 0.141484
05-09-16 23:27:32   amt 0.141484
05-09-16 23:26:44   amt 0.141484
05-09-16 23:23:43   amt 0.141484
05-09-16 23:21:22   amt 0.141484
05-09-16 23:17:51   amt 0.141484
05-09-16 23:17:15   amt 0.141484
05-09-16 23:16:29   amt 0.141484
05-09-16 23:15:36   amt 0.141484
05-09-16 23:14:10   amt 0.141484

those blocks are pretty fast. I'm thinking too much hash in one spot.  They may be off mining their own chain.

Please report any issues - the more information the better.

I haven't heard back from dreamwatcher about the checkpoint server.  I sent him the private key for setting it up back on Fri 4/29/2016, guess I'll sent it again....

- general info for all readers:

As for your wallet syncing (or not), I would shut it down, delete the peers.dat file and both .log files(easier to look through) and try again.

you can add nodes to your config file from the list at http://btb.cryptocoinexplorer.com/peerinfo it's generally not needed, and it doesn't hurt.

addnode=65.102.140.116
addnode=82.181.121.182
.....

(don't add the :xxxxx)

note: If for some reason you were on a different chain, or your wallet just hiccuped and spewed nonsense out to the network, your wallet could end up being banned for 'misbehaving'
It's a temporary ban set for 24 hours. (most wallets are 10 minutes - I don't know why they designed bitbar this way)

I think if you use "-connect" instead of "-addnode" it might help out with the sync issue. I have to say that I often delete my peers list but probably wouldn't have to if i just used "connect". But it doesn't seem to hurt anything even when i am solo mining on the network to just leave it alone. It's annoying though right? After I delete the peers list and run the wallet again it shows as synced almost instantaneously.

Also, don't mind what the green bar says on the bottom of the wallet, look in the console and the blockcount should match the block explorer or extremely close. That's what matters I believe.
I can still solo mine while it's "syncing" this way. I think the green bar shows up when a node shows a higher blockcount. So one on a wrong chain.

I kinda feel like this is a bug in the wallet, that it'll do this. But this happens to many different coins also. But it still is in sync if you check in the console - just doesn't appear as such because of the green bar at the bottom. The same thing is happening in the LTB wallet also and in 42 wallet I notice it happens in also. I've seen in happen in the Franco wallet also.

oh ya are you using a windows wallet? lol i wrote above in the perspective of a windows version wallet because that's what I use.

Sounds like part of the original over engineering of Bitbar, with emphasis on security.

520 Confirmations over 120
Difficulty Adjust every block
Pos/Pow hybrid
ect?

Its all about what the people want...

I agree somewhat on the over engineering.

I don't understand why misbehaving wallets aren't banned permanently or until they meet certain criteria which would then after, allow them back on the network.

__

Could it be that the og Dev thought there would be over 120 nodes on the network at any given time?

Waiting for 520 confirms does take forever right now but what if there were over 120+ nodes on the network? Right now, 520 confirms is way over ambitious in my opinion and may even be a deterrent for use of BTB.  A person might not want to wait that long especially because of how fast as it's value can change on the exchanges. Someone might be mining it because it is profitable over, say LTC. BUt by the time that mined amount is mature it might no longer be profitable and selling could be at a loss. So there is risk involved that way and said person might feel like a "bagholder". Which is not so good. Sure we want people to hold bars because that keeps them rare but we NEED people to spend/use them also.

__

I like the diff adjust after every block. I wish more coins were like that! I feel an unfair advantage can be had otherwise for an amount of time.
 For instance, when I jumped onto the LTB network before anyone else did... before Spidersbox pushed out the first new updated wallet (I took a risk mining the wrong chain). I found literally 46 blocks the first minute, the count went higher per minute before it went down until the diff was adjusted. But only slowed down slowly also as the diff kept being adjusted. I felt like I hit the jackpot. Alerts for blocks found wouldn't stop, I had to turn the sound down. ching! ching! ching!ching!ching cha-ching! lol

PoW/PoS is good too

so the skins wallet doesn't work as it should on windows.
here is the fix for now:

make a directory c:/bitbar

unzip the skins.zip file to c:/bitbar
note: you might end up with skins/skins.  if you do, move the files and images to the first skins.
you should end up with something like:

c:/bitbar/skins-|
                   [] images
                   default.qss
                   midnight.qss
                   pnw.qss

then you will have to edit the qss files default, and pnw  - left click open with - wordpad (notepad squishes it all up with no end of line returns)

change the line that looks like:
  border-image: url(skins/images/pnw-background.jpg) 0 0 0 0 stretch stretch;

and change it to:
  border-image: url(c:/bitbar/skins/images/pnw-background.jpg) 0 0 0 0 stretch stretch;

while you are at it, paste this to the file:
QMenuBar::item
{
  background-color: transparent;
}

Once done and saved, use the browse button in the skins page of your browser and select c:/bitbar/skins
then hit the find button to reload the list and double click on the pnw skin - it SHOULD change the background to clouds.

note: feel free to copy one of the qss files and edit it.  you don't need to restart the wallet for the changes to take place.
You can just check one of the check boxes (or uncheck it) and the wallet will reload.

yes. It works well.
I was just going with the normal windows programs - keep it simple (as possible)
Besides, once you use wordpad, it puts in the missing 'windows' end of line  (carriage return or line feed, don't remember) and then you can use what ever editor you want.

I didn't know that about wordpad. I'm glad I found out about notepad++ though. It helped me through a bunch of boring projects for a C++ course.
