2.) why do people need a payout from pool of 0.20 BTC like 5 times a day (see screenshot somewhere above)? Do they spend these coins instantly? Do they not trust slush for 1 BTC? (note: I don't really care, since a lot of transactions are a good test of the network, I just don't understand the logic)

If you look it's like twice a day(i had special situation for that to happen) to once every two weeks, I'm a slow miner so I get a nice feeling just getting them sent to me, I'm not worried or anything. I should probably turn it up to 1BTC though, but with difficulty sky rocketing, it be a month maybe before i'd get paid ~$4 worth of BTC....

EDIT: This is a problem with bitcoin, if small transactions are bad, then that spells trouble. IRL I could give back and forth a penny to someone a million times withour issue, in Bitcoin this is terrible.

If you buy a piece of gum, your stressing the network... there's too much reliance on others to make sure it works.

Sounds like you almost certainly spending more on electricity mining than you are earning in bitcoins arleady.  You will never get ahead without upgraded hardware.  If you are serious about mining, then I suggest that you invest in the necessary hardware [used will work if you know the hardware is in good shape].

Most of that time was spent at ~14GHash/sec.

Look at the number of shares submitted instead of time.

Pool was in unstable condition for more than 2/3 time of the round #4288, hard to take those numbers seriously. I just wake up to check pool status and everything operates normally, new round started few minutes ago.

Im sorry but if things continue on being unstable as they are im gonna have to take me and my miners to another more stable pool i certainly like the idea of a miner fail over and i understand things are not easy for you slush ..

but until such time as the pool is stable i don't think you should be charging the pool 2% for a unstable service

it is understandable that thing can and will go up and down but there should be some forum of redundancy for your service

much like say a cell phone would you be willing to pay for it if it only work and 1/8th of a time ?

just a little note for reference and why I support slush

I have been mining for the last 8 days with a ati 5870 rockin the guiminer at approx 375m/hashs

I am a network administrator with over 20 years of experience but I am new to Bit Mining, I originally chose slush's pool because he seems sincere, and the payment method seemed the most straight forward.

In any case I mined almost 15 BTC in the last week and was pretty happy with that, that was at around 335 m/hashs I made some tweaks today and I hope this week will get me almost 20, and I plan to buy some more hardware when funds come available to make the purchase

anyways like I said Im new and slushs pool was the first I tried, when he was down today I tried deep bit, half the day I did the proportional payments and the other half of the day I did the Pay per share,.... I must say its an odd thing, PPS is great except they over compensate themsevles with a 10% fee to make up for paying for shares that did not really get submitted. I can almost bet that in the long run they greatly profit because on that 10% and the actual amount that they pay out that they shouldent have is probably in the low single digits most of the time.

Now running the proportional payments is kind of scarry cause it is based largely on luck and analyzing some of the shares I can see situations where I made 1BTC and one single other person made the rest, and I hate seeing that. Also the way proportional payments are set up its almost as if you really need to stay with deepbit indefinately or you may never get what you deserve, kind of like you are always waiting for the "long run" to show up......

Slush I would like you to answer how your payment methods differ from deepbit and I also want to pledge my support to you. I think that this technology is very new and there are kinks to work out. My prediction is that Slush will still be a big name when the last coin is mined, and I look forward to working with you to get out every last one.

one other thing I'm dying to know, slush or any of the other big dogs around here, can you please just for reference post a couple of things?

what kind of mining hardware your using?
how many m/hashs are you getting on your miners?
how may BTC's are they mining per week?

Make sure that you have room in that case of yours for the 6990; it is a long card and very power hungry.

And you also have to be very very aware of the way that it vents heat towards the front of the case (into the case). You may need to move fans or turn some front intakes into outflows.

What can I say, I'm really glad this wonderful is back to action. I briefly tried other mining pools, but I don't know, it always seems like it takes way longer for me to get shares for it. Let it running nearly all day while working on my programming project and barely got 0.09 BTC when my rewards with Slush's pool would be closer to 0.15 or even 0.20 if I get lucky. I really don't want to switch over to another pool, as the alternatives don't seem nearly as attractive.

I'm a pretty serious miner who is well in the multiple ghash/s any downtime at all is of a great loss I know I could solo mine and be better off but with that said I also want to contribute back by supporting various projects but if those projects don't have redundancies now it comes out of my pocket and that's unfair to me so why would I contribute and continue supporting something that costs me money ?

Hmm, this is weird..I have "0.63640126 BTC" showing as unconfirmed and it has been that way for many hours. No new blocks show up in the stats and none that I participated in so I guess I can kiss these bitcoins goodbye?

I do not run all day, only done that twice.
I am also not serious as I'm more checking this bitcoin thing out and get in early JUST IN CASE.
I also use a CPU miner with unused left-on computers at my college

I don't think you understood what I was trying to get across. I do realize it has to be confirmed, but I do not see any unconfirmed blocks that I participated in anymore - meaning all of the ones that I've participated in show as confirmed. The only thing that I can think of that may be going is that the stats on the main page are broken?

This happen when fails some database writes in time of finding block. I have to fix those things manually, which I didn't do yet. Mining works, but I need to fix this stuff today.

Warweed, I absolutely understand your feelings, but please wait to full report of outage. I'm doing my best, but I cannot assume all kinds of failures. This was serious one and I solved it ASAP. I'm not sitting 24/7 on the line waiting on troubles, I need holiday time to time.  Trust me that you're not alone who is upset with weekend troubles... Btw I'm not taking fees from failed blocks, of course.
