I don't really need a 1250 PSU for a K64, right? I was thinking a 250 would work fine, as the boards are the only thing I need to power with my planned setup.

Im starting with a 550 watt dual rail 38 amps for,  2 k16, 2 k64's = 320 watts pulled....so.... even if over clocked down the rd,,,still plenty of room....ya even an old 250 will be enough for a singe k64. Some in here are going out and buying godly PSU's for a few boards.... i know a quality one is best though, so it doesn't blow and take out your boards with it...always that chance with any however....

Why not just use a DC Power Supply?

I really wish we could get a clear picture of the size of board with heat sink attached and a template for the mounting holes in the board...Maybe I missed it?...but need to know depth with sinks on....if anyone knows yet?

I was hoping to see pictures and specs of the DX Mini case by now?

Especially as all of my support tickets (3) regarding a refund for my case have gone unanswered. So presuming that I will not be getting a refund for said case, it would be nice to see what I will be getting?

Ya probably no refund without a lot of pressure....but, if your order is filled, it would be nice to have the case and all within. I didn't order a case as I was trying to make the most of my budget and put it all into boards for now. eventually I will order a case most likely. I assume the mini will look like the large only smaller....

PLEASE get a board template for mounting holes/standoffs and the thinkness with heatsinks attached, and the exact dimensions of both boards...I know k64 is simply 4 k16's but.... and I assume sinks are on the back side opposite of the pci-e connecters etc.... but find all that out,,,and what the boards are actually hashing at last check :

Hey Bargraphics, I second the computer history museum and if you like Italian food be sure to visit Joe's.  It's by the museum if memory serves me right in downtown San Jose.

*EDIT, I got the computer history museum confused with the Tech museum.  Joe's is near the Tech Museum and it's called "Original Joe's Italian Restaurant".

Hey MMNC. I am working off of Steamboat's board info for dimensions of the heatsinks and such: http://liquidsyndesigns.com/shop/klondike.html
With heatsink, fan, and standoffs Steamboat's k16s are approximately 4"x4"x4" (10x10x10cm)
If we take off the fan, and subtract the length of the bottom standoffs, it looks like it's going to be about 2"-2.5" thick (including the PCIe connector). 
It's approximate of course, but I think relatively close. On BKK's thread they talk about using heatsinks ranging from .75" to 2" thick. Standoffs are cheap from Grainger, so I bought 200 2" hex 4-40s.

Hey KL! thanks for that, I will look at grainger as well, I had found some standoffs on amazon, but not was i was looking for...2" is what i want. Cool beans! Thanks again KL.  ( the k16's are smaller than I had been thinking) so the k64's should be 8x8"  
PS: I did see your hardware list you posted the other day, very nice list....just hadn't pursued the standoffs untill I maybe new the depth with heatsinks.... but the 2" should cover any final senario's

Yeh, I had a tight budget to stick to and wanted to get as many boards as I could, but it just felt safer to order a 'plug and play' type device! I'm no Bitcoin noob, but maybe a bit of a computer tech novice and at the time of ordering I didn't want to get involved with the actual construction of the rig, whereas now I feel like I'm a lot more clued up and could handle such a task!!

Also, the shipping cost is crippling! $400 to the Uk, that's just not right!!?

Does anyone have any idea of the customs charges I may have to pay on it?

If you go with the heat sink labeled #4 on the BKK thread, you are getting good passive heating and much better temperature with fan cooling- around 45 C. I modeled that heat sink and posted it in another thread. I think, without a fan it was keeping temps around 80C. I did a model with a fan blowing over it but never posted the results.

I also modeled the Steamboat design, but said I wouldn't release any specs. Are they selling that design as the one in that link?

With a fan, the steamboat design did pretty well, but its passive cooling isn't excellent due to the small spacing of the fins.
