Good news TH is finally going to test the new K16 PCB.
Seems like this should have been done a couple of weeks ago.
If changes need to be made this could cause more delays.
Lets hope it goes well and the boards hash with low hardware errors rates this time.

This should have been done in mid-late July, not just a couple weeks ago. Truth is, even if TH had received the chips on time they would not have been ready to have the boards made and shipped by Aug. 15th.

The Spartans were parsimonious of patter. When they refused Athenian terms, on one occasion, the herald declared : "If we come to your city, we will raze it to the ground."
The Spartan answer was the one word: "If."
"If" is a two letter word with a huge meaning. If a bunch of gas particles did not get together to form the Sun, we wouldn't be here today.

TH did not think any if's were possible.
Not every thing always goes as planned.
I hope the PCB's are good and don't need any more revisions.

That would have been extremely amusing, if after I read it I didn't realize you have time for that, but not time to respond to any support tickets.

*grabs pitchfork* yea! damn them!

while we are still waiting on chips, hope TH caught this:
NOTICE:

There is an error in the K16 Parts List on Github.

R47 is marked as 0603 package but the board requires an 0402 package.

This is a 100 ohm resistor.  Qty 6 should be reduced to Qty 5 and an 0402 Qty 1 added.

I've fixed the error in the parts list but if you have ordered 0603 resistors for production you will need to also order some 0402 of the same. For DIY hand assembly you may be able to fit an 0603 in as a hack. I'll update later as I see how this works out.

Sorry everyone. I thought all the errors had been caught some time ago but this one slipped in as part of the last revision.

It's fairly minor in comparison to the ASICs that never ship, but it's a nuisance, I know.

Yea, already ordered the new part. We have ordered enough components to assemble upto 200,000 chips or 12,500 K16s. The only part in shortage right now is the PIC. But, we have enough of them for 40,000 chips and more are coming in around August 15. Heatsinks will be here next week. The cases were supposed to arrive today, but the shop says they are delayed by a couple days, which is fine for now. Power supplies and fans (for the cases) have been ordered as well. Cable harnesses for powering upto 40 K16s from a single power supply have been custom made, they will be here by next week too.

Look at the date posted. When will you stop the lies.

The reason we did not spend money on these is, in case Avalon chips never show up, we would be able to refund some of our customers money.

1. PSUs: Can be delivered within 48 hours, after we get the chips. We could have ordered them right now, and they could have sat here idly while we wait on the chips, or a huge waste of money in case the chips never arrive.
2. Cases: 3-4 weeks lead time. Will be here early next week. We could have rushed the delivery by paying extra, but for what?
3. PCBs: 1-2 day lead time. We could have ordered these as well, but again, for what? For the chips that may never arrive?

... problem is... he claimed to have been "ready" for production as soon as the chips arrived with ALL components needed.

He never was.

Is he now?
Well... he ordered them... what yesterday? 1 month ago? 2 months ago?

Same story. Never came through.

"If" TH had met deadlines even set by their self long before chip delay.
"If" TH had customer service, and didn't release information now before they want something.
"If" TH had a board that hashed right without HW errors

"If" TH was a fighting force they would not be Spartans, they would be Custer.  We have this guys, just follow me into battle!!!

Meaning that you had no idea that the chips would not have come when you expected them, i.e., approx. Aug. 1st. Meaning you should have been placing orders and had ALL parts, and had all test boards running at 100% expecting the chips at the beginning of August, but you did not. Had the chips arrived when they were supposed to (and you had no absolute reason to believe they wouldn't), you would not have had the parts to put the boards together and deliver by Aug. 15th. The claim that you did not order so that you could refund some money is irrelevant since you did not have foreknowledge that the chips would not arrive on time. IOW, that was never and could not possibly have been a reason for having all parts ready and test products functioning.

Not trying to be an ass about it, just calling it what it is. TH was not ready to meet the expected delivery date. "Luckily" for them, Avalon failed to come through, which bought TH some time to get its ducks in a row. This is possibly the same for other group buys since there were some part shortages reported with the PICS. But now the late deliveries can be blamed on Avalon.

How do you not have him and atomic ignored. I refuse to believe there are people this naive so the only plausible explanation is that they are trolling.

Good question. Not sure really. Some days, the irrational banter makes me chuckle. Other days...  Those are the days I post. Smiley

What do you think they will say when they receive their boards? They'll probably complain about the size of the heat sinks or find some FTC rule that has been violated regarding the proper shipping method for electronics. JK

On the topic of overclocking...

Terrahash, for those that will be hosting with you, are you offering the option to overclock the miners?
