Hello all,

Yesterday I have posted this question in other thread, but unfortunately I got no advice, so I am trying here today. I am getting very frustrated with my 2 Saphire VEGA64 cards and castXMR setup . The problem is that one of my cards just stops hashing after 1-6 hours (randomly) and miner freezes. I am getting no errors reports in CastXMR or wattman at all. The miner seems to be active and is reporting hashrate for one card. When I am trying to use command "q" to quit it does not react. I have to close it's window and them my wattman setting resets. I am using blockchain driver and applied 1050 registry mod. I also lowered power limit to -21% and GPU. Temperature is below 50 celsius. Please give me some ideas/hints what can cause this problem. I spent several days reinstalling my system and it seems that nothing works Sad

Don’t use wattman or amd driver tools.
First follow the guide vegamining.blogspot.com. If this doesn’t help then test your cards one by one. Could be that one card needs other settings or is faulty.
Hi, what is your mobo?
I had the same problem and it was caused by the asrock h110+. Such a piece of junk if you want to use it with vegas...
New mobo asus mining expert did the job and rig with 8x vegas mining nonstop for 8days for now...
Before that I had a crashes and freezing of miner 2-4x times per day...

I have asus prime B250 plus. I noticed that there is a new bios available for this mobo. Should I update it?

Please stick to the original topic -- amd vega hash rates.

So, any predictions for the upcoming custom Sapphire, PowerColor and Asus cards when it comes to hash power? Sapphire announced +7% gains in frame rate over the referent RX Vega. Can we also expect a 7% increase in hash rate?

I dont think it will hash better. It will be cooler for sure but the hash looks to be memory related and since it will come with the very same memory...Will you expect different results from same memory:

PS. About the bios, update if you are having problems.

I am following the vega blogspot guide and when I run the registry file for the soft power play tables after a reboot the computer will not boot up. (I have the monitor plugged into one of the vegas) It  boots black screen but green for monitor, waits about 1 minute and then restarts and loops forever. safe mode and removing the registry entry fixes it. I have tried all the registry files and the safe one and it still puts my computer in an endless reboot loop.

I am not sure what to try next

I found this and I too have no device description
https://www.reddit.com/r/MoneroMining/comments/79xkc7/none_of_hellaes_powerplay_table_mods_will_work/
I am still trying to get this solved

Thanks

I just ordered 16 ROG Strix 64s (wanted a better cooler). I'll let you guys know once I get them up and running. I already have a 8 vega 64 rig hashing @ 16.03kh/s. I doubt there will be any difference at all but I'll let you guys know once I build it.

Hey guys, some vega 64s came up for sale at my local market.

You think I should buy some of these considering their more expensive and more power hungry compared to the vega 56?
Isn't the vega 56 a clear winner, if not how does one justify buying a vega 64?
I justified buying a Vega 64 simply because I could not get a 56.   Grin

Hi All, I have a couple of questions if anyone can help

Can anyone tell me what the P Values in Overdriventool change. I believe P7 is the memory frequecy of the card and P3 the cards Ram? but what are the others.

also, I always stop the miner before making any changes in Overdriventool. Is it ok to make changes while the miner is running?

Thanks

Quick question:

Can I have 4x Vega 56 in the same Rig?

Currently:
2x 570
2 out of 6 PCIe slots occupied.

Windows 10
I have 3 of 56 (bios mod 64) 1 of 64, all running with 1 RX580 on the same board.
When I added the 580 it worked almost  out of the box. There were a few small tweaks for open CL on the miner set up, but the system recognized them all fine.
Of course I had to reinstall drivers, power tables for the Vegas etc... from scratch.

Explanation from a ignorant non-expert

There are P1-P7 for the core which includes frequency and voltage and the is P1-P3 for the Memory which includes frequency and voltage. Think of them as GPU presets. They GPU selects a preset based on load. Here is an example for what I am trying to say. These percentages are completely made up but the principle is what I am trying to convey.

    % Load     P-State
    <5.          P0
    <10.        P1
    10-20.      P2
    21-30.      P3
    31-50.      P4
    51-70.      P5
    71-95.      P6
    96-100.    P7

Same for memory P states except there are 5 states

I have the Nitro 56 using the reg files. I don't think you will be disappointed although I have had a few crashes on the miner.

Why would the registry files be any different than the stock blower style cooler? It's the exact same card.. It baffles me how people think changing the outside cooler turns it into a completely different card. If the core and memory are the same (from same manufacturer), the card will perform exactly the same (apart from better thermals of course)...

FWIW, while I don't know anything about the Nitro, the MSI Air Boost (which looks the same as the reference cards) does not perform the same. It seems to have Hynix memory (according to GPU-Z), and I was never able to get it to work even remotely well.

Guys sorry for the Noob question on this thread but as I was struggling to find RX580 maybe is better for me to get some Rx Vega for my rig.
Can someone recommend something or I should just keep looking?
Thanks in advance

Any ideas if the extra memory on vega Fe helps with intensity on sgminer or nsgminer?

I spent several days reinstalling my system and it seems that nothing works Sad

I am completely lost Sad Yesterday I sent one of my Vegas back to the store. Now I have 1x Vega64, 1x rx580 and 1x rx480. RX580 and RX480 are mining ETH and working without problems. Vega64 is mining ETN on castXMR miner. I changed PCI positions, reinstalled everything and now also disabled IGPU (intel) and the error is still there Sad Vega just randomly resets to default values (and everheat to 75C) while not submitting any information to CastXMR Sad Can anybody help me? Please shot any ideas ... I am really desperate Sad

Have you tried mining without the registry mod, or it could be just the MOBO giving you a headache.

Yes, I tried to mine also on default setting without any registry mods, but it failed also. I updated mobo to the latest firmware and problem seems to be even more intensive.
