Well, we decided to splash out for another rig since December has been an excellent month for the checkbook. I hadn't looked at GPUs much in the past several days, but in less then a week stock has dropped allot, especially for AMD. What's still in stock is at least $50 higher now too (Rx 580s in particular). We considered getting a mixed rig of GTX 1070 Ti and GTX 1060s, but wound up going for 8x GTX 1070 instead since that matches the other hardware we already have on hand better. We hadn't been planning on any new gear until summer at the soonest, but with current profits it's too good not to expand to the limit of our power capacity.

1080's have a tiny bit better than 1070 Ti's?
If you aim for max efficiency, 1070 ti will at least match and usually beat 1080 hashrate in the 100-110 watt power range at the same power usage. This depends on the card model and sometimes the specific card, I've only seen ONE match situation on "same model" cards, my Zotac Mini 1080 vs my Zotac Mini 1070 ti - but that's a case of the 1080 Mini I have being THE BEST 1080 I have in that power range by a bit. If you push for higher hashrates at the cost of efficiency, the 1080 starts outhashing the 1070 ti typically around 120-125 watt level but never outhashes a same-model 1070 ti by the common 10% cost differential, presuming same power level on each card. *IF* you can get a "same model" 1080 for the same price or within 2-3 % of a 1070ti, it's probably worth doing IMO - otherwise no. if you don't mind refurbished and are looking for a hybrid evga the 1080 hybrid is 549 https://www.evga.com/products/product.aspx?pn=08G-P4-6188-RXthe 1070 ti hybrid is 529 https://www.evga.com/products/product.aspx?pn=08G-P4-5678-KRconsidering that it should pay off in well under a year the refurbished 1080 may be the better deal. ZCL has jumped from 60 usd to 124 usd. This has pulled my nicehash zec mining up a lot overnight I should reach my 0.10 payout on Sunday morning. https://www.nicehash.com/miner/16yLHLoeyuCLPMXkVpC3gyrRYvwRGwjKJrI look at the monthly projections for all my cards on the one address and it is 0.628 btc or about 9118 a month This does not count my 4x s-9's which earn about 0.25 btc a month total of 0.88 btc a month = damn! I just don't believe it.

Yeah... the 2 big increases for mineable coins the last 1-2 days are ZCL & SUMO. Certainly makes me wish i had my GTX rig build already but I just now started building my Vega rig, even though I only have 3 of them to install in it lol. I moved 3 of my 4 rx470 rigs over to SUMO about 24 hours ago when it was at $5 and it's already around $10 now. of course, diff is going up big time but it's still by far the most profitable coin currently to mine with 470's, and Vega's even more so once I get that rig up and running.
Speaking of the Vega's... I have a question for those of you who have already built Vega rigs...
What exactly is the requirement for power on these things? Meaning, aside from the riser, what exactly do i need to plug into the 2 power ports on the top of the GPU? Here's my situation specifics:
- EVGA 1000w G2 PSU - comes with 4 8pin (PSU side) to 6+2pin (GPU side) cables and 2 8pin to 6+2pin & 6pin cables.
Clearly, I do not want to you 2 PSU ports and 2 of of the single 6+2's for each GPU since that would limit me to 3 total GPUs on this rig.
I assume I can make use of the 2 double pronged cables, but have a question about that since 1 is only 6pins. My Gigabyt2 Vega 56 came with a 8pin male to 2 6pin female adapter. Therefore, can I just plug 1 of this adapter's 6pin female into the power cable's 6pin male, and then subsequently use that 1 cable with adapter (now has a 6+2 from main power cable and and 8pin from the adapter) to power a single GPU with 1 PSU cable?
If so, this will solve the issue for 2 GPUs, and then for now, since I only have 3 Vega's, I can double up the PSU cables for the 3rd without any issues, correct? This would still limit me to 4 total Vega's on this rig but Im assuming I can try to get extra PSU cables/adapters towards the end state of hopefully 5 Vega's.
Any suggestions on this would be most welcome!

I have a ticket open with Sapphire support to see what they recommend. I assume that is why they included the adapter but as I said, I am not really keen on risking blowing up $800 on even an educated guess ;-)

Phil and others with 10 series GTX rigs and any familiarity with 1070ti's specifically... I am looking to get a build going and have narrowed it down to 1070ti's at least 4 and maybe up to 6 eventually. I liked the EVGA Black edition for about $470 but it's out of stock everywhere, so I started looking at the various MSI models as I have had great luck with their 470's. Looks like they have 3 main models... 1- Gaming (very similar look (red-black) to the 470 gaming) https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168141372542- DUKE (3-fan model) https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168141372583- Titanium (dual fan silver and black model) https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814137255I am leaning towards the Titanium and could get 2 of those on newegg and 2 elsewhere for avg cost of about $485. Price is very similar for all 3 but availability a bit of an issue on the Gaming model as newegg is out of stock and I plan to pay with BTC for at least half this order. Anyone have any recommendations among these 3 for mining purposes? I am still trying to get used to the vast array of different models available on the GTX side lol.

Duke is dual power connnector. Not sure on the others - they have at least ONE model that runs from single 8-pin but I don't remember which one it is (other then their blower model).
IIRC the Titanium and the Gaming are the same card except for the color scheme.

If it was my money, I would wait until a single power plug model from either MSI, ASUS, or Zotac become available.

I mentioned those three brands because that's what I have in the way of 1070/1070TIs that I use for mining. Generally speaking, I usually buy higher end EVGA cards for gaming but not necessarily for mining. That's not really on purpose, more a function of cost. I've got a set of 1060 EVGAs for mining and they are so-so. That's probably more a reflection of the fact they are 1060s than the fact they are EVGA. Though, my Zotac 1060 Minis hash much better than my EVGA 1060s. Standard disclaimers apply, take everything with a grain of salt, your mileage may vary, etc.

Getting any new asics without over paying will be tough.
In fact gpu prices are rising.
Amazon is kind of mostly sold out. Provantage is short.
Not much gear to be had at the moment.
