Any form of currency has illegal users. Users also in bitcoin can also be subject to theft, scams, and frauds. Since bitcoin transactions are untraceable and because of lack of regulation, it became easier for criminals and scammers to perform their evil deeds. One example is when a scammer put a false car advertisement online, and told the perspective buyer to send them money using a Bitcoin ATM. There was no way to cancel the transaction when it was realized that it was a scam, and the Bitcoin were lost forever. It just really depends on how we handle btc and use it. It is still a perfectly respectable and good investment and form of payment.

Although, there are some articles that i have read regarding criminals cannot hide behind bitcoins, still, there are difficulties tracing transactions using cryptocurrencies. That is why law enforcement agencies should have a to change their procedures to pursue criminals who make use of the latest technology to commit crimes. Let the law find a way to evolve to address new tech challenges. There is no reason to expect that law enforcement won’t be able to get a handle on this new cybercrime.

Anything can be used in crimes as long as people wanted it to be used in crimes, that doesnt exempt bitcoin or anything. Bitcoin has lots of help that it could offer to people, but some people are using it in the wrong way, and we cant blame that on bitcoin or the other cryptocurrencies, its people who does it not the coins.

OP made a short brief about connections between bitcoin and crime. I agree with most things he said, people weren't aware of Google, face book, internet before, and internet is the place full with many opportunities. We can talk about it for days, but its a fact that people do that not the bitcoin, internet, Google, bitcoin. All this things should be here to help us in our lives, but some people use it for their own illegal purposes.
Law enforcement agencies will be able to handle new crimes, they are working on that. They need to be ready for new times, and sure they are searching for ways how to control people who use crypto currencies for illegal things. Generally I think that bitcoin is making economy revolution, we need to see revolutions in government sectors too, only like that we can have better future, bitcoin itself can't help a lot if we don't change entire system!

Dark markets to this day still use Bitcoin as the main form of payment, m,any don't accept anything other than crypto. Monero is slowly making an appearance as well.
